Abstract

Tea is a type of plant that is popular as a drink. In general, based on the processing method, tea can be classified into three types, namely green tea, olong tea and black tea. The aim of this research is to find out whether there is an effect of tooth coloring on people who consume black tea. The method used is literature study to find theoretical references that are relevant to the cases or problems found. The data used comes from journals, scientific literature, rivew, which contains tooth coloring sheets in people who consume black tea. The results of the research show that there is a relationship between public knowledge and tooth coloring. The conclusion is that the effect of tooth coloring on people who consume black tea is due to the lack of public knowledge about the content of black tea which contains a lot of tannins, which can cause teeth to change color from brown to black.

Abstract

One important part of body health is teeth and mouth. Teeth in the mouth are one of the organs of the body that have several functions, thus oral dental health is an integral part of overall health. The purpose of the study was an effort to reduce the number of caries in oral and dental health by increasing public knowledge in the work area of the Pate'ne Health Center, Maros Regency. The research method was in-depth interviews and surveys using questionnaires regarding the knowledge of oral and dental health in the work area of the Pate'ne Health Center, Maros Regency and by determining the priority of alternative problem solving using the Multiple Criteria Utility Assessment method. Results Knowledge increased from 75.3% to 94.5%. After being carried out through dental and oral health examinations through increasing public dental health knowledge. The conclusion of the study shows that efforts to improve dental and oral health through increasing public dental health knowledge is a very important activity in helping to maintain a person's dental and oral health.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Denture base materials, acrylic and thermoplastic nylon, have the disadvantage of high water absorption. Green tea contains tannins wich can cause discoloration of the denture base. Objective: To compare the magnitude of the color change in heat cured acrylic resin and thermoplastic nylon after being soaked in green tea. Method:The design of this research is laboratory experimental with a pretest and posttest only control group design, consisting of 2 groups. Group 1 is resin acrylic and Group 2 is thermoplastic nylon, both were soaked in green tea for 7 days. The samples were measured using a spectrophotometer. Results were analyzed using One Way ANOVA. Results: Based on the One-Way ANOVA test, it is known that the p-value of 0.000 is smaller than 0.05 (p < 0.05). so it can be said that there is a significant difference in color change of resin and thermoplastic nylon denture bases after being soaked in green tea. Conclusion: Thermoplastic nylon absorbs more color agent (tannis) compared to acrylic resin Keywords: Acrylic resin, Thermoplastic nylon, Green tea, Color change

Abstract

Background: Thermoplastic nylon is a flexible denture base. Denture base strength was measured by transverse strength test. A natural Denture Cleanser can be made from mangosteen peel extract. Mangosteen peel extract has antibacterial and antifungal properties so it can be used as a cleaning medium for nylon thermoplastic dental plates. Purpose: To determine the effect of soaking effervescent mangosteen rind extract (Garcinia mangostana L.) with concentrations of 30% and 60% as a Denture Cleanser on the transverse strength of thermoplastic nylon. Methods: True experimental laboratory research with a post test only control group design. This study used nylon thermoplastic samples with a total of 24 samples divided into 4 groups, namely control group (-), control (+), treatment 1 (30% mangosteen effervescent extract), and treatment 2 (60% mangosteen Effervescent extract). Results: The Shapiro-Wilk test showed results that were not normally distributed because the sig values of the control group (-), control (+), and 60% mangosteen extract had a p value <0.05. In the homogeneity test between homogeneous groups. Then proceed with non-parametric statistical tests using the Kruskal Wallis test showing a p value <0.05. Conclusion: There is an effect of effervescent mangosteen rind extract (Garcinia mangostana L.) as a Denture Cleanser on the transverse strength of thermoplastic nylon.
