Abstract

Sustainable agriculture plays an important role in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs). The use of organic fertilizers is increasingly important to increase agricultural productivity that is environmentally friendly and reduce farmers' operational costs. One of the strategies that can strengthen agriculture is innovation in the use of organic fertilizers made from livestock manure. This research aims to explore the potential for organic fertilizer innovation from livestock waste in supporting sustainable agriculture and the achievement of the SDGs. This research will analyze the economic, social, and environmental benefits of using organic fertilizers, and identify the main challenges faced in its implementation The research method used is qualitative research with data collection through interviews, questionnaire distribution, and field observation. The data collected is on the income and economic growth of five farmers in Jambi City from February to July 2024. The analysis stages are carried out through primary data collection, data analysis, and interpretation of results. The study results show that using organic fertilizers can increase the productivity of farmers' crops by up to 20%. The social implications of using organic fertilizers include improving farmers' welfare through improved soil quality and higher crop yields, which directly impact income and economic stability. In addition, the use of organic fertilizers also reduces farmers' operational costs by up to 30%. This study concludes that the use of organic fertilizers is a strategic step in realizing sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture in the future.

Abstract

The study had explored the influence of high school students' mathematical curiosity on their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning. Using a quantitative approach, the study had involved 271 students from various high schools, who had filled out a questionnaire regarding their level of mathematical curiosity and interest in STEM learning. Regression analysis had been conducted to identify the relationship between the two variables. The study's results had revealed a significant relationship between mathematical curiosity and interest in STEM learning, with a p-value of <0.05. This finding had indicated that students' mathematical curiosity had simultaneously influenced students' interest in STEM learning with several indicators that had significantly affected interest in STEM learning, namely the desire to detail information and enthusiasm for learning. The implications of these results had highlighted the importance of designing teaching strategies that could trigger students' mathematical curiosity to increase their engagement in STEM fields.

Abstract

Students' mathematical problem-solving skills are an important ability to have. One of the factors that can affect mathematical problem-solving ability is the teacher's pedagogic in learning mathematics. This study aims to analyze the pedagogical aspects of mathematics learning. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects consisted of 35 grade VIII students in one of the schools in the city of Bandung. Data collection was carried out through observation of the mathematics learning process, test items of mathematical problem-solving skills, and the implementation of interviews with teachers and students. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the percentage of answers to the item test for mathematical problem-solving ability and analyzing the pedagogic learning of mathematics. The results showed that the average mathematical problem-solving ability as a whole reached 64.5%, indicating a medium category. The lowest indicator of mathematical problem-solving ability is the recheck indicator. Based on the analysis of pedagogic aspects in mathematics learning on mathematical problem-solving abilities related to teachers' ability to use learning methods and technology. This means that learning methods and technology are important in improving students' mathematical problem-solving skills.

Abstract

The development of technology can transform the learning process, especially in relation to instructional media. Existing instructional media can be modified and developed according to technological advancements and in alignment with the Merdeka Curriculum. Based on a needs survey, 100% of teachers require training in creating instructional media and materials related to differentiated learning, while 40% of teachers express difficulty and the need for training in algebraic concepts. This community service activity aims to enhance mathematics teachers' competence in implementing differentiated learning, particularly in algebra, and using GeoGebra technology in teaching mathematics at the Junior High School level. The activity consists of two parts: webinars and workshops. The webinars focus on the concept and strategies of differentiated algebra-based learning approaches, aimed at helping teachers understand the diverse learning needs of students. Meanwhile, the workshops provide practical training for teachers in using GeoGebra to enrich mathematics education, especially in visualizing algebraic concepts. Through this activity, teachers are expected to apply a more effective and inclusive approach to mathematics education and improve their technology utilization skills in the classroom. Evaluation results showed an 80.7% increase in teachers' understanding of differentiated learning and an 82.7% improvement in teachers' skills in using GeoGebra. Additionally, 84.6% of teachers stated that using GeoGebra in instruction is essential to help students understand algebraic concepts.

Abstract

Improving problem-solving in mathematics education can be achieved by applying a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach that prioritizes active student involvement. This research offers a PBL model that is integrated with digital technology to improve students' problem-solving skills more effectively and efficiently. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of the problem-based learning model in improving the problem-solving ability of junior high school seventh-grade students. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design of the control group. The research sample consisted of 66 randomly selected seventh-grade students. The selection of 66 students as a research sample was carried out to ensure adequate representativeness, taking into account the diversity of academic backgrounds and problem-solving skills, so that the results of the study can accurately describe the impact of the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on various levels of student ability. The instruments used include problem-solving ability tests berjumlah 5 soal and observation sheets for learning activities. The data analysis technique used was the Mann Whitney to see the difference in improvement from the two groups of research samples. The results showed that students' mathematical problem-solving skills experienced a high improvement (Ngain = 0.813) after learning mathematics using problem-based learning. Furthermore, the implementation of the problem-based learning model significantly improves students' mathematical problem-solving skills. These findings indicate that open-ended problem-based learning is one of the effective alternative interventions in improving students' mathematical problem-solving skills. Therefore, educators in the field of mathematics, such as teachers and lecturers, can use open-ended problem-based learning to improve students' mathematical problem-solving skills.         Keywords: problem-based learning, problem-solving skills. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i3.pp1067-1079
