Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see and categorize some of the functions of the Karawo embroidered cloth seeing from the motifs in Goronalo, Karawo itself is a typical traditional cloth originating from Gorontalo whose manufacture is produced by handicrafts. Karawo itself has a unique way of doing it, such as making karawo which requires patience and thoroughness, making karawo takes one week to make one karawo that is ready to use. To support the research, we use descriptive methods and the data collected in the preparation of journals are analyzed descriptively, data collection is also in the form of interview data and study results from literature sources. The results show that Gorontalo karawo embroidery has its own meaning to the function of the motifs that will be used as a complementary ornament of the cloth so that the karawo embroidery is formed. This is because each of the motifs continues to develop and shift to a more modern direction which makes the karawo motif in a certain function has its own meaning for its users which is then adjusted to what the consumer likes. However, this can add to the function of the more modern karawo motifs as time goes by which then choose to leave Gorontalo customary and cultural motifs. The conclusion of the research is to find that the karawo embroidery handicraft has a function of every motif that has been made, from traditional cultural motifs to modern motifs that tend to be liked or interested by users. Abstract

Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara dengan jumlah penduduk terbesar di dunia, sehingga permasalahan sosial di Indonesia tidak lepas dari aspek demografi. Selain itu, penduduk Indonesia dari banyak suku, adat istiadat serta budaya yang sangat berbeda. Karena perbedaan yang begitu beragam, permasalahan sosial tidak dapat dihindarkan. Fenomena ini memerlukan perhatian serius dan upaya efektif melalui media kampanye sosial contohnya Ricko, korban salah sasaran pengeroyokan oleh sesama bobotoh dalam laga Persib kontra Persija Jakarta di Stadion Gelora Bandung Lautan Api yang menjadi korban pengeroyokan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang media kampanye sosial yang efektif dalam menyampaikan pesan mengenai bahaya dan dampak negatif dari tindakan kekerasan pengeroyokan. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan komunikasi visual yang mempertimbangkan strategi komunikasi AISAS (Attention, Interest, Search, Action, Share), Konsep Pesan, dan Strategi Kreatif. Melalui media kampanye ini, pesan yang dihadirkan dapat menghindari tindakan kekerasan dan memilih penyelesaian konflik secara damai. Maka dari itu media kampanye ini dirancang dengan baik sehingga menjadi alat yang efektif dalam mengurangi angka kekerasan pengeroyokan dan memilih jalan damai dalam penyelasaian masalah.

Abstract

Gorontalo is the 32nd province located in the northern part of the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. Gorontalo is known for its rich culture and deep traditions. One of the most famous cultural heritages of Gorontalo is Karawo embroidery fabrics. Karawo is a cloth decorated with intricate hand embroidery, usually used in traditional events or as a symbol of social status. The motifs on Karawo fabric are inspired by nature and the social life of the people of Gorontalo, have high symbolic value and become a distinctive cultural identity. However, along with the times, the motifs on Karawo fabric began to shift. This study aims to analyze the shift in motives, using a qualitative approach strengthened by the theory of the totality principle and the time principle. The principle of totality helps to analyze aspects of function, meaning, and symbolism in Karawo's design, while the principle of time examines the changes that occur in Karawo fabrics based on four indicators: what is fixed, what is lost, what is new, and what is changing. Despite the shift of Karawo motifs towards more modern designs, some Karawo fabrics still retain strong traditional cultural elements. In this study, it was concluded that even though there were changes in the design of the motifs, Karawo fabric still reflected Gorontalo's dynamic cultural identity and was able to adapt to the demands of the times.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the promotional media strategies used in the management of the Paisu Matube hot springs tourism site in Banggai Laut Regency. This tourist attraction has appealing natural potential; however, the low number of domestic visitors indicates that the promotion being carried out is not optimal. This study employs a qualitative approach by examining the roles of the Tourism Office and the Community Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in utilizing various promotional media, including social media, print media, and electronic media. The results indicate that tourism promotion is predominantly conducted through social media platforms such as Facebook, while print and electronic media are not utilized to their full potential. Therefore, there is a need for the development of more diverse and intensive promotional strategies to increase the interest of local and international tourists. This research contributes theoretically to the field of communication as a tool for tourism promotion and provides practical benefits for tourism managers in optimizing promotional media to boost visitor numbers.

Abstract

Upaya pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi visual dan pemahaman sinematografi di kalangan generasi muda di Kota Gorontalo dengan fokus pada praktik bedah film. Berlatarbelakang paparan konten visual yang masif di era digital dan kurangnya kemampuan analisis kritis terhadap konten tersebut, bedah film ini membekali peserta dengan pengetahuan tentang sinematografi sebagai fondasi visual cerita. Metodologi pelaksanaan pengabdian melibatkan identifikasi prinsip-prinsip belajar aktif dan relevansi langsung, dimulai dengan tahap pra-pelaksanaan untuk menentukan tujuan dan sasaran, yaitu meningkatkan literasi film dan melatih analisis kritis bagi generasi muda yang tertarik pada sinematografi. Film yang dibedah adalah short movie berjudul "‘Panggoba’" karena film ini memiliki potensi memicu generasi muda untuk berdiskusi tentang budaya Gorontalo. Kegiatan bedah film ini dilaksanakan pada 9 Mei 2025, di Justmie X Justcoffee Gorontalo. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup pengenalan budaya ‘Panggoba’ dan bagaimana mengemas budaya tersebut di dalam sebuah film pendek. Adapun feedback peserta menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman tentang budaya ‘Panggoba’ dan sinematografi, serta minat untuk praktik pembuatan film secara langsung, mengindikasikan dampak positif dan berkelanjutan dari kegiatan ini. Hasilnya adalah 68 generasi muda yang terlibat dalam program ini memiliki peningkatan pengetahuan dan minat di bidang sinematografi. Program ini direkomendasikan untuk berlanjut dengan pelatihan praktis, mendorong generasi muda untuk menghasilkan film bertema budaya Gorontalo.
