Abstract

This article delves into the concept of dreams in Islamic thought, particularly through the philosophical approach developed by Al-Kindi, an early Muslim thinker. Dreams have long been a focus of study in various civilizations, including the rich philosophical and spiritual traditions of Islam. In works such as "Mahiyah an-Naum wa al-Ru'ya," Al-Kindi articulates an understanding of sleep, dreams, and their relation to the human soul from a profound philosophical perspective. This research employs qualitative methods and literary analysis to comprehend the phenomenon of dreams in the Islamic scholarly context. Primary data is derived from Al-Kindi's writings and other relevant scholarly works. The findings indicate that Al-Kindi interprets dreams as outcomes of the sleeping state where the soul utilizes its inner faculties, particularly through the concept of "khayal" or imagination. Al-Kindi's viewpoint offers new insights into the relationship between dreams, reason, and spiritual reality in Islamic thought.

Abstract

This research examines religion and humanity from the perspective of the value of diversity referring to Surah al-Hujurat verse 13. A multicultural Indonesian society consisting of ethnic, cultural and religious aspects will have logical consequences for an attitude of understanding and respecting differences. So that diversity is seen as a necessity in all aspects of life without having to cause conflict. In the Qur'an, especially in Surah al-Hujurat verse 13, we find a portrait of a multicultural society as the embodiment of the symbol of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. In this research, the method used is a literature study with technical data analysis in the form of analytical descriptive. The findings of this research are values reflected in the opinions of the mufassir, namely the value of syumuliyyah, the value of kafa'ah and the value of tasamuh. These three values should be internalized and implemented in realizing the spirit of religion in the context of national and state life.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper explores Al-Ghazali’s conception of the soul and its role in the mechanism of dreams. According to Al-Ghazali, the soul is an intricate, metaphysical entity composed of interconnected elements—nafs (soul), ‘aql (intellect), qalb (heart), and ruḥ (spirit)—that together shape human behavior and spiritual experiences. Al-Ghazali’s view posits that dreams are not merely psychological or physiological events but metaphysical occurrences influenced by the soul’s capacity to perceive divine knowledge. He argues that the purification of the soul, particularly the heart, is essential for accessing higher truths, with dreams serving as a medium for divine revelation. This metaphysical perspective marks a significant departure from earlier rationalist interpretations, highlighting the spiritual and intuitive aspects of knowledge. Al-Ghazali’s framework of the soul’s role in dreams contributes to the broader Islamic philosophical discourse on the acquisition of knowledge and spiritual development, bridging rationalist thought with mystical traditions.

Abstract

The driving teacher is the latest breakthrough from the Ministry of Education and Culture which functions as a motivator and school inspiration for students and fellow teachers. Its existence has a big influence and implications for school culture full of educational values. Global challenges are dimming existing norms, thereby weakening spiritual attitudes which give rise to various kinds of degradation, including tests for the nation's nationalist soul. A driving teacher is a figure who minimizes this and brings about change by forming a spiritual attitude based on nationalism. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results obtained are that driving teachers are part of forming a spiritual attitude based on nationalism by playing a role in carrying out habituation, acculturation, and empowerment in a consistent and directed manner.
