Abstract

The porpose of the study was to find out whether the use of Teams Game Tournament (TGT) model will be effective to improve students’ reading comprehension in learning English at the tenth grade students of SMKN 1 Kota Bima in academic year 2015/2016. The research design was experimental research which involves two groups of students: an experimental group and control group. The two group are given different teaching treatment. There will be a pre-test before treatment is given to the experimental and control group and after the treatment were given the same instrument to the experimental and control group. The population of the research were the tent grade students of SMKN 1 Kota Bima which consist of 63 students , 32 students in the experimental group and 31 student in the control group as the sample. The research instrument were used a test. Based on data analyzed, this research applied two techniques, namely descriptive and inferential analysis. The data shown that in the pre-test result, the mean score of the experimental is 6.88 amd the control group is 6.84. it can be interpreted that the students of both groups posses equal intelligence and the resulf of the post-test, it is found that the improment of the meanc score of the experimenatal group is 0.6 points and the control group is o.16. the significance from both of the groups are higher than 0.05 and the values of probability are higher than 0.05 and the obtained t-score was higher than the critical score on the t-table (2,465>1,9996), the difference was statistically significance. This means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

Abstract

Objective of this research is to know the influence of using picture in teaching comparison degrees. The research design is experimental. In this research the population was the eleventh grade of SMAN I Monta in academic year 2017/2018 which consist of 144 Students from 4 classes.In this study, the writer used cluster random sampling technique to take the sample, the writer was taken two small piece of paper. The small piece of paper is roll and mixed. Then, without prejudice the writer take two small piece of paper, they are the first taken was class MIP A 3 34 students as the experimental class and the second taken MIPA 4 34 as the control class. The instrumen for this research is test. Based on the analysis data,he result showed that the null hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypothesis is clearly accepted. So, the picture has positive influence in teaching comparison degrees.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to increase students’ reading comprehension at eight grade of SMA N 3 Kota Bima in academic year 2017/2018 through RAP (read ask paraphrase) strategy. The research designed was Classroom Action Research which has four procedures, namely: Planning, Implementing, Observing, and Reflecting. The subjects in this research were the eight grade which has 30 students consisting of 13 males and 17 females students. The researcher used two kinds of research instruments, namely: Observation sheet and Speaking test. This research applied in two cycles. The data shown that both of teacher and students activities were in active level the students’ speaking skill, based on the result observation data gained mean score class of first cycle were 73 and total of students were fulfil the criteria of individual only 17 from 30 students, so that, precentage of learning result were 56%. It means that the research was unsuccessful because the target of the success in this study was 85% among the whole member of the students. So, the researcher should arrange for the second cycle, after doing improvement in second cycle the result of observation data gained mean score of the class were 86 and total of students were fulfill the criteria of individual 27 from 30 students, so that, percentage of learning result were 90%. It means that the application of the RAP is suitable to increase students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to improve students’ speaking skill at eleventh grade students especially in class XI IPA2 of SMA N 1 Palibelo in academic year 2017/2018 through the learning cell method. The research designed was Classroom Action Research which has four procedures, namely: Planning, Implementing, Observing, and Reflecting. The subjects in this research were the eleventh grade students especially in class XI IPA2 of SMA N 1 Palibelo which has 30 students consisting of six males and twenty-four females students. The researcher used two kinds of research instruments, namely: Observation sheet and Speaking test. This research applied in two cycles. The data shown that both of teacher and students activities were in active level the students’ speaking skill, based on the result observation data gained mean score class of first cycle were 73 and total of students were fulfil the criteria of individual only 17 from 30 students, so that, precentage of learning result were 66,6%. This score have not fulfilled the (KKM) of SMAN I Palibelo, it means that the research was unsuccessful because the target of the success in this study was 85% among the whole member of the eleventh grade of SMAN I Palibelo. So, the researcher should arrange for the second cycle, after doing improvement in second cycle the result of observation data gained mean score of the class were 85,33 and total of students were fulfill the criteria of individual 27 from 30 students, so that, percentage of learning result were 90%. It means that the application of the learning cell method is suitable especially to improve students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kreativitas mahasiswa semester IV mahasiswa program studi pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di STKIP taman Siswa Bima melalui penerapan pembelajaran generatif berbasis masalah terbuka. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu dengan desain tes awal untuk kedua kelompok-perlakuan-tes akhir. Mahasiswa yang dipilih sebagai populasi sekaligus sampel penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester IV yang hanya satu kelas (akan dibagi dua kelompok). Sebelum menerapkan pembelajaran generatif berbasis masalah terbuka terlebih dahulu diberikan tes awal (preetest) untuk mengetahui kreativitas mahasiswa dalam membuat/menyusun karya tulis. Kemudian dilaksanakan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pembelajaran generatif berbasis masalah terbuka pada mata kuliah writing yang dilaksanakan selama enam kali pertemuan dan dipertemuan ke tujuh diberikan posttes. Analisis data untuk mengujian hipotesis digunakan uji-t pada taraf signifikan 5 % dan dk = n1+N2-2 (30-2) dengah syarat Ha diterima jika nilai t-hitung lebih besar dari t-tabel. hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Nilai t tabel dengan N1 + N2 -2 = 28 sebesar 1,7011. Hasil analisis data bahwa nilai t hitung diperoleh sebesar 3,937 dengan dk (28). Dengan membandingkan nilai t hitung dengan t tabel (1,7) maka dapat diketahui bahwa hipotesi yang diterima adalah Ha dan Ho ditolah yang berarti Terdapat peningkatan kreatifitas mahasiswa melalui pembelajaran generatif berbasis masalah terbuka

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the use of deixis by teachers and the floating of maxim in EFL classroom videos. It is hopefully will be useful for the institution where the researcher studies, for other students, other researchers, or readers in general. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. There are four videos which were used as source of data. In collecting the data, the researcher transcribes the videos, classify the data based on types of deixis and maxim. After all of the data were collected, the researcher analyze the data and draw the conclusion. The result of this research can be seen as follows: (1) There are found 996 deixis used by teachers in EFL classroom videos, which consist of 617 person deixis, 217 discourse deisis, 124 temporal deixis, 24 spatial deixis, and 14 social deixis. (2) There are found 119 maxims floated in the videos, which consist of 68 maxim of quantity floated, 28 maxim of relation floated, 14 maxim of quality floated, and 9 maxim of manner floated. Those results show that the most dominant type of deixis used is Person Deixis, and the most dominant type of maxim floated is Maxim of Quantity.
