Abstract

The case of dichotomy, Islamization, and integration of knowledge is a part of the education movement. This condition cannot be separated from the phenomenal background which occurs in the history of knowledge development. The emergence of ideas from Islamic education figures through Islamization and integration of knowledge is the answer to the problem of dichotomy which gives the bad effects toward Islamic education development. This matter will be the responsibility of an educator as the agent who develops the learning process and interacts with the students educationally.

Abstract

Education is the main foundation in nation building, and teachers play a strategic role in creating a quality learning process. The professionalism of teachers greatly determines the success of education, especially in facing the challenges of globalization and technological developments. This article aims to examine the importance of teacher competency development as a strategy to strengthen professionalism in improving the quality of education. This study uses a qualitative approach through the literature review method by examining various academic sources, government policies, and related research results. The results of the study show that the development of teachers' competencies, both pedagogical, personality, social, and professional, must be carried out in a systematic, structured, and sustainable manner. Some of the strategies identified include individual training, observation and reflection, involvement in curriculum development, as well as scientific forums and professional organizations. Programs such as pre-service education, in-service training, as well as reinforcement through teacher working groups (MGMP) and classroom action research are integral to this process. With comprehensive competency development, teachers are expected to be able to become adaptive, innovative, and professional educators in facing today's educational dynamics.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education presents new moral challenges for teachers, especially in maintaining academic integrity, protecting students' personal data, and fairness in technology-based learning processes. This article aims to analyze the moral dilemmas faced by teachers in the digital era through deontological and consequentialist ethical approaches. This research uses a literature study method with a qualitative-descriptive approach, reviewing literature on moral philosophy, professional ethics, and digital education practices. The results of the analysis show that teachers often face complex ethical choices, such as adjusting values due to combined access to technology or students' use of artificial intelligence. Deontological ethics emphasizes the importance of adhering to universal moral principles, while consequentialist ethics prioritizes the positive impact of actions. Integration of both is recommended to enable teachers to make fair and responsible decisions in the digital context. This study recommends strengthening digital ethics education in teachers' professional training as well as the establishment of education policies that are adaptive to technological dynamics. With a reflective and comprehensive ethical approach, teachers can maintain their moral role as educators and character building agents amidst the complexity of the digital world.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji nilai-nilai pendidikan Islam yang terkandung dalam hikmah pelaksanaan ibadah, zakat, waqaf, dan haji sebagai bentuk aktualisasi keimanan dan penguatan karakter umat Islam. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode tinjauan pustaka (library research), penelitian ini menganalisis berbagai sumber literatur, antara lain ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an, hadis, serta pendapat para ulama dan pakar pendidikan Islam. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa setiap bentuk ibadah dalam Islam mengandung dimensi pendidikan yang integral bagi pembentukan pribadi muslim yang beriman, berakhlak, dan bertanggung jawab sosial. Ibadah seperti salat menanamkan nilai kedisiplinan dan keikhlasan, zakat serta waqaf menumbuhkan kepedulian sosial dan keadilan ekonomi, sedangkan haji memperkuat ukhuwah dan kesetaraan umat. Secara keseluruhan, hikmah dari pelaksanaan ibadah-ibadah tersebut mencerminkan konsep pendidikan Islam yang menyatukan aspek spiritual, moral, dan sosial dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa nilai-nilai pendidikan Islam tidak hanya diajarkan secara teoritis, tetapi juga diinternalisasikan melalui praktik ibadah yang membentuk insan kamil yang bertakwa dan berakhlakul karimah. Abstract This study aims to examine the Islamic educational values contained in the wisdom of worship practices such as prayer, zakat, waqf, and hajj as forms of faith actualization and the strengthening of Muslim character. Using a qualitative approach with a library research method, this study analyzes various sources of literature, including verses from the Qur’an, hadiths, as well as opinions of scholars and Islamic education experts. The results of this study show that each act of worship in Islam carries an integral educational dimension for shaping a faithful, moral, and socially responsible Muslim personality. Worship practices such as prayer instill discipline and sincerity, zakat and waqf cultivate social concern and economic justice, while hajj strengthens brotherhood and equality among Muslims. Overall, the wisdom behind these acts of worship reflects the essence of Islamic education, which integrates spiritual, moral, and social aspects into daily life. Therefore, this study emphasizes that Islamic educational values are not merely theoretical concepts but are internalized through worship practices that develop the ideal Muslim individual (insan kamil) who is pious and noble in character.

Abstract

This study aims to renew and contextualize the scientific values ​​in Islam that grew and developed during the golden age of Islamic civilization as a strategic effort to improve the scientific and spiritual character of students in the learning of Islamic Cultural History (ISCH) in the modern era. The background of this study departs from the reality that ISCH learning is often perceived as limited to memorizing historical events, thus less able to foster intellectual enthusiasm and reflection on values. Therefore, it is necessary to update the learning approach by re-exploring the Islamic scientific tradition that is rich in scientific and spiritual values. The research method used is qualitative with a literature review approach to the works of classical Muslim scholars, such as thinkers in the fields of philosophy, science, and education, combined with contemporary Islamic educational sources. This approach aims to find the relevance of classical scientific values ​​to the needs of ISCH learning amidst the development of the times. The results of the study indicate that scientific values ​​such as the spirit of lifelong learning, the ability to think critically and rationally, the integration of religion and knowledge, and an open attitude towards various ideas and differences of opinion are the main foundations of the progress of Islamic civilization. These values ​​have proven highly relevant when internalized in Islamic Studies (IS) learning through inspiring and holistic methods. This study also found that learning that emphasizes the role models of Muslim scientists, critical dialogue, and reflection on values ​​can increase learning interest, deepen understanding of the material, and shape students' scientific character. The implications of this research confirm that strengthening scientific values ​​in IS learning can be a solution to address the challenges of the digital era, revitalize the intellectual spirit of Islam, and shape students who are religious, critical, and have character. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperbaharui dan mengontekstualisasikan nilai-nilai keilmuan dalam Islam yang tumbuh dan berkembang pada masa kejayaan peradaban Islam sebagai upaya strategis dalam meningkatkan karakter ilmiah dan spiritual siswa pada pembelajaran Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (SKI) di era modern. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari realitas bahwa pembelajaran SKI sering kali dipersepsikan sebatas hafalan peristiwa sejarah, sehingga kurang mampu menumbuhkan semangat intelektual dan refleksi nilai. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pembaruan pendekatan pembelajaran dengan menggali kembali tradisi keilmuan Islam yang sarat dengan nilai-nilai ilmiah dan spiritual. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan kajian pustaka terhadap karya-karya ilmuwan Muslim klasik, seperti pemikir dalam bidang filsafat, sains, dan pendidikan, serta dipadukan dengan sumber-sumber pendidikan Islam kontemporer. Pendekatan ini bertujuan untuk menemukan relevansi nilai-nilai keilmuan klasik dengan kebutuhan pembelajaran SKI di tengah perkembangan zaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai keilmuan seperti semangat menuntut ilmu sepanjang hayat, kemampuan berpikir kritis dan rasional, integrasi antara agama dan pengetahuan, serta sikap terbuka terhadap berbagai ide dan perbedaan pandangan merupakan fondasi utama kemajuan peradaban Islam. Nilai-nilai tersebut terbukti masih sangat relevan ketika diinternalisasikan dalam pembelajaran SKI melalui metode yang inspiratif dan holistik. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa pembelajaran yang menekankan keteladanan ilmuwan Muslim, dialog kritis, dan refleksi nilai mampu meningkatkan minat belajar, memperdalam pemahaman materi, serta membentuk karakter ilmiah siswa. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa penguatan nilai-nilai ilmiah dalam pembelajaran SKI dapat menjadi solusi dalam menghadapi tantangan era digital, menghidupkan kembali semangat intelektual Islam, serta membentuk peserta didik yang religius, kritis, dan berkarakter.

Abstract

The background of this study stems from the condition of contemporary Muslim society, which faces a spiritual crisis, moral decay, and the dominance of materialism that weakens the foundations of faith. This research positions itself within the field of Islamic da'wah history and spirituality studies, focusing on two main aspects: the characteristics of Meccan society at the beginning of Islam’s spread and the substance and strategies of the Prophet Muhammad’s da'wah during that period. In this article, the discussion is conducted using a qualitative-descriptive approach with an analysis of classical sources such as the Sīrah Nabawiyyah, hadith, and Makkiyah Qur’anic verses. Meccan society is portrayed as a community with strong social structures but overshadowed by polytheism, social inequality, and tribal fanaticism that rejected the values of monotheism (tawḥīd). In this context, the Prophet implemented a gradual da'wah strategy focusing on the development of faith (ʿaqīdah), the cultivation of patience (ṣabr), and the formation of noble morality through personal example. The findings of the study indicate that the essence of the Prophet’s da'wah in Mecca was not merely about conveying theological teachings but also about shaping the spiritual and social character of the believing community. From this struggle, it can be concluded that steadfastness in faith grows through a deep understanding of tawḥīd, patience in facing trials, and commitment to divine values that serve as the foundation of Islamic civilization amid the storms of life. Abstrak Latar belakang permasalahan berakar pada kondisi umat Islam masa kini yang dihadapkan pada krisis spiritual, dekadensi moral, dan dominasi materialisme yang melemahkan fondasi keimanan. Penelitian ini menempatkan diri dalam ranah kajian sejarah dakwah dan spiritualitas Islam, dengan fokus pada dua aspek utama: karakteristik masyarakat Makkah pada awal penyebaran Islam serta substansi dan strategi dakwah Rasulullah pada periode tersebut. Dalam artikel ini, pembahasan dilakukan melalui pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif dengan analisis terhadap sumber-sumber klasik seperti Sirah Nabawiyyah, hadis, dan ayat-ayat Makkiyah. Masyarakat Makkah digambarkan sebagai komunitas yang memiliki tatanan sosial kuat namun diliputi kemusyrikan, kesenjangan sosial, dan fanatisme kabilah yang menolak nilai tauhid. Dalam konteks ini, Rasulullah menerapkan strategi dakwah bertahap yang berfokus pada pembinaan akidah, penanaman nilai-nilai kesabaran, dan pembentukan moralitas luhur melalui keteladanan pribadi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa substansi dakwah Nabi di Makkah bukan hanya tentang penyampaian ajaran teologis, tetapi juga pembentukan karakter spiritual dan sosial umat yang beriman. Dari perjuangan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa keteguhan iman tumbuh melalui pemahaman mendalam terhadap tauhid, kesabaran menghadapi ujian, serta komitmen terhadap nilai-nilai ilahi yang menjadi fondasi peradaban Islam di tengah badai tantangan kehidupan

Abstract

As the oldest Islamic educational institutions in the archipelago, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) have a significant influence in shaping the religious practices of Indonesian society. They serve not only as centers for the teaching of Islamic knowledge but also as agents of ongoing moral, social, and cultural development. This article aims to analyze the role of pesantren in strengthening moderate da'wah practices in Indonesia through the educational process, the formation of the students' personalities, and community empowerment activities oriented toward the values ​​of welfare. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach, drawing on various academic sources, pesantren institutional documents, and relevant previous research findings. This approach was chosen to gain a comprehensive understanding of pesantren's contribution to strengthening moderate da'wah, both theoretically and practically. Data were analyzed descriptively and analytically to uncover the patterns, strategies, and values ​​developed by pesantren in the context of Islamic da'wah in Indonesia. The study's findings indicate that pesantren function as centers for the dissemination of wasathiyah Islamic values, which emphasize tolerance, balance, inclusiveness, and openness to differences. The role of the kiai (Islamic scholars) as central figures and the santri (students) as agents of da'wah (Islamic outreach) are key to instilling these values ​​through the teaching of Islamic texts, exemplary morals, da'wah activities, and community programs. Furthermore, the ability of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) to adapt to developments in information technology, such as the use of digital media and social platforms, has helped expand the reach of moderate da'wah amidst the challenges of globalization. Thus, Islamic boarding schools have proven to contribute significantly to supporting the strengthening of moderate da'wah and maintaining interfaith harmony in Indonesia. Abstrak Sebagai institusi pendidikan Islam tertua di Nusantara, pesantren memiliki pengaruh yang sangat besar dalam membentuk pola keberagamaan masyarakat Indonesia. Keberadaan pesantren tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai pusat pengajaran ilmu-ilmu keislaman, tetapi juga sebagai agen pembinaan moral, sosial, dan budaya yang berkelanjutan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran pesantren dalam memperkokoh praktik dakwah moderat di Indonesia melalui proses pendidikan, pembentukan kepribadian santri, serta kegiatan pemberdayaan umat yang berorientasi pada nilai-nilai kemaslahatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan telaah pustaka terhadap berbagai sumber akademik, dokumen kelembagaan pesantren, serta hasil-hasil penelitian terdahulu yang relevan. Pendekatan ini dipilih untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang komprehensif mengenai kontribusi pesantren dalam penguatan dakwah moderat, baik dari aspek teoretis maupun praktis. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif-analitis guna mengungkap pola, strategi, dan nilai-nilai yang dikembangkan pesantren dalam konteks dakwah Islam di Indonesia. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pesantren berfungsi sebagai pusat penyebaran nilai-nilai Islam wasathiyah yang menekankan sikap toleran, seimbang, inklusif, dan terbuka terhadap perbedaan. Peran kiai sebagai figur sentral dan santri sebagai agen dakwah menjadi kunci utama dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai tersebut melalui pengajaran kitab keislaman, keteladanan akhlak, aktivitas dakwah, serta program-program kemasyarakatan. Selain itu, kemampuan pesantren dalam beradaptasi dengan perkembangan teknologi informasi, seperti pemanfaatan media digital dan platform sosial, turut memperluas jangkauan dakwah moderat di tengah tantangan globalisasi. Dengan demikian, pesantren terbukti berkontribusi nyata dalam mendukung penguatan dakwah moderat serta menjaga kerukunan dan harmoni umat beragama di Indonesia

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of Islamic inheritance law (mawaris) in contemporary Muslim society as a means to realize justice and blessing (barakah) in the distribution of inherited wealth. The research is motivated by the growing number of inheritance disputes caused by limited understanding of faraid principles, the persistence of customary inheritance practices, and the coexistence of national legal systems that often diverge from Islamic inheritance regulations. These conditions frequently lead to unequal distribution and family conflicts. The study aims to examine the relevance of mawaris in modern contexts and to explore how its application, when aligned with the objectives of Islamic law (maqasid al-shariah), can address current social challenges. Employing a qualitative method with a normative library research approach, the study draws on primary sources such as the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical fiqh texts, as well as secondary sources including contemporary books and scholarly journal articles. Data were analyzed through content analysis to identify key concepts and arguments regarding the contemporary application of mawaris. The findings show that proper implementation of Islamic inheritance law fosters justice, minimizes family disputes, strengthens kinship ties, and safeguards the blessing of wealth. Nevertheless, insufficient public literacy on Islamic inheritance law and the dominance of non-sharia considerations remain significant barriers. Therefore, the study underscores the need for enhanced public education, greater involvement of religious scholars in inheritance mediation, and contextual integration of Islamic legal principles to ensure fair and beneficial inheritance distribution in modern Muslim families.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of fitnah in Islam, focusing on its definition, forms, risks, and social impacts. Fitnah, referring to false accusations, deceit, and the spreading of misleading information, can pose a serious threat to individual integrity and social balance. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a literature review from classical Islamic texts, Quranic verses, the teachings of the Prophet, and the latest scholarly articles from trusted sources. The findings indicate that fitnah is a significant moral and social violation that can lead to various issues, such as conflicts, defamation, social division, and the loss of trust within society. The study also emphasizes the importance of Islamic ethical principles in preventing and addressing fitnah, especially in the digital age, where information can spread rapidly and widely. The study concludes that preventing fitnah requires an increase in public literacy, more ethical communication, and adherence to Islamic values that emphasize honesty and caution in disseminating information. These efforts are expected to reduce the negative impact of fitnah in social life and foster a more harmonious society.

Abstract

The development of national character is a strategic agenda in addressing moral, social, and cultural challenges in the era of globalization. Strengthening fundamental values derived from Islamic teachings is considered an important solution, particularly the values of obedience to Allah SWT, the spirit of competing in goodness (fastabiqul khairat), and work ethic. These three values play a crucial role in shaping individuals who are faithful, possess noble character, are responsible, and have high competitiveness. However, the reinforcement of these values in the practice of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels has not yet been optimally and systematically integrated. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the concepts, urgency, and strategies for integrating the values of obedience, competition in goodness, and work ethic into PAI learning. The research method employed is a literature study using a qualitative-descriptive approach through the analysis of scientific literature, curriculum documents, and relevant concepts of Islamic education. The findings indicate that the value of obedience serves as a spiritual and moral foundation for students, the value of fastabiqul khairat encourages active, collaborative attitudes oriented toward positive contributions, while work ethic strengthens discipline, responsibility, and productivity. The integration of these three values can be implemented through the development of teaching materials, the application of contextual learning methods, educators’ role modeling, and the cultivation of a religious school culture. The implications of this study affirm that integrating these values into PAI significantly contributes to the formation of a young generation with integrity and readiness to build a dignified nation.
