Abstract

Tamarind (Tamarindus indica L.), a type of tropical plant that grows in Indonesia has various benefits and has been widely studied by various disciplines. The study of Tamarind as a source of ideas for art creation, on the other hand, has not been widely carried out. The aims of this study are: (1) To explain the process of creating Semarang batik motifs using the idea of Tamarind through the stylization of forms; (2) to analyze the shape of the Tamarind batik motif to strengthen the identity of Semarang’s local culture. This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods to examine phenomena related to the creation process and the uniqueness of locality-based batik motifs on batik artisans in Semarang City. The data collection techniques used were observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies. The data that has been collected was analyzed interactively through data reduction, presentation, and conclusions with the scope of analysis in intra-aesthetic and extra-aesthetic studies. The results showed that: (1) Tamarind is a typical plant that is closely related to the toponym of the city of Semarang so it becomes a source of ideas for the creation of locality-based batik motifs through the stylization technique by Semarang batik artisans; (2) Visualization of the shape of the Tamarind batik motif that has been produced shows the diversity and uniqueness of the form as an aesthetic expression of the batik artisan in responding to the beauty of the natural and socio-cultural environment in Semarang City according to the level of knowledge and aesthetic experience. This research contributes to the batik artisan in exploring the diversity of local plant species as a source of ideas for creating environmentally-based batik motifs to strengthen the value of local cultural identity.

The study examined: (i) the school’s vision and mission supporting Cultural Education and National Character Building (PBKB); (ii) the application of character education through value-based expressive drawing to enhance emotional intelligence in elementary school; (iii) the impact of this educational approach on students' values and personalities, as reflected in their learning outcomes; and (iv) changes in students’ attitudes, analyzed through children's drawings. The experimental methods aimed to improve lesson plans, teaching processes, instructional media, and the analysis of values in children's visual symbols. Results indicated positive shifts in students' attitudes and character values, as evidenced by progress reports over two semesters. Various national character traits were identified in children's expressive drawings, notably through the visualization of symbols of honesty, thereby demonstrating the effectiveness of value-based expressive drawing model in character education.

Abstract

This community service program aims to transform entrepreneurship education through the synergy between academic institutions and the industrial sector to foster sustainable business growth. The international collaboration between Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), Indonesia, and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, serves as a strategic foundation for designing adaptive, innovative, and relevant educational approaches that respond to modern business challenges. The program focuses on enhancing students’ competencies in business leadership, digital marketing strategies, financial management, and professional networking. The activities are conducted through training sessions, mentoring, and hands-on guidance involving lecturers and industry practitioners as main facilitators. The program takes place at the UNJ campus, engaging students from diverse entrepreneurial backgrounds. Evaluation is carried out through pre- and post-surveys to measure competence improvement, as well as through tangible outputs such as training documentation, scientific articles, and educational video recordings. Preliminary results indicate an increased understanding among participants regarding business digitalization, the use of technology in business management, and their readiness to adapt within the global entrepreneurial ecosystem. The program also supports the achievement of SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by empowering students to create independent and sustainable employment opportunities. By employing a student- and industry-oriented approach, this initiative not only provides short-term competency improvement but also contributes to developing a collaborative entrepreneurship education model that can be replicated in other academic institutions.
