Abstract

No study on functions of oral literature Malèlang Madiôn in Aceh Barat Daya has been conducted. Therefore, this study aims to seek novelty as a form of literature revitalization to avoid extinction. It proposes to describe the functions of oral literature Malèlang Madiôn for its supportive community in Aceh Barat Daya. The selected approach was folklore by using Bascom-Dundes' theories. Data were acquired from informants from Aceh Barat Daya through interviews and transcription, supported by a literature study. They were in the form of oral text Malèlang Madiôn. Analyses were carried out using the semiotic reading method through the following steps: (1) interviewing informants, (2) transcribing oral utterances into oral text, (3) reading oral text Malèlang Madiôn heuristically and hermeneutically, (4) revealing the functions of oral literature Malèlang Madiôn based on the function theory by Bascom-Dundes, (5) categorizing the functions of Malèlang Madiôn, and (6) describing the results and drawing a conclusion. The results point out several functions of oral literature Malèlang Madiôn for its supportive community, namely (1) as a projection system; (2) as a means of cultural institutions validation; (3) as an educational tool; (4) as a means of control and supervision for community norms; (5) as a means of social sanctions or punishment, and (6) as a means of social criticism.

Abstract

In linguistic studies, grammatical cohesion is one of the important aspects in discourse analysis, one of which is in literary texts such as short stories. In this study, a short story entitled "Matahari Ready for Sale" will be analyzed based on its classification. This short story not only presents an interesting storyline and social representation, but also shows the distinctive use of gramma in building meaning. This study uses a qualitative approach because this study tries to decipher language data using interpretation. In addition, the data that has been collected will be collected using a quantitative analysis model from Milles & Huberman which includes data collection, data reduction, data display (data presentation), and conclusion drawing and verification. The data that have been collected from the short story will be used to analyze the classification of the human typology and one of them is banyan man.

Abstract

Karya sastra tidak akan terlepas dari fenomena yang ada dalam masyarakat yang adaptif dijadikannya sebagai kritik sosial dalam penciptaan karya sastra. Pendekatan sosiologi sastra teori Swingewood digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk kritik sosial yang terkandung dalam naskah drama Baridin dan Ratminah karya H. Abdul Adjib. Metode deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dengan memanfaatkan kutipan pada dialog-dialog dalam naskah drama yang dijadikan sebagai data, dengan sumber datanya adalah naskah drama Baridin dan Ratminah. Hasil analisis didapatkan dalam naskah drama Baridin dan Ratminah mengandung lima kritik sosial, yakni 1) Kritik sosial masalah kemiskinan; 2) Masalah kejahatan; 3) Masalah generasi muda; 4) Masalah norma masyarakat; 5) Masalah disorganisasi keluarga. Social Criticism in the Drama Manuscript Baridin dan Ratminah by H Abdul AdjibLiterary works cannot be separated from phenomena that exist in society which are adapted to be used as social criticism in the creation of literary works. The Swingewood theory of literary sociology approach is used in this research with the aim of describing the forms of social criticism contained in the drama script Baridin and Ratminah by H. Abdul Adjib. The qualitative descriptive method was used by utilizing quotations from dialogues in drama scripts which were used as data, with the data source being the Baridin and Ratminah drama scripts. The analysis results obtained in Baridin and Ratminah's drama script contain five social criticisms, namely 1) Social criticism of the problem of poverty; 2) Crime problem; 3) Young generation problems; 4) Problems with societal norms; 5) Family disorganization problems
