Abstract

This article focuses on the study of the use of language forms in the realm of visual imagery that are built from rhetorical elements to Andi Bombang's Kun Fayakun novel using a qualitative approach through stylistic theory. The purpose of this study is to explain the visual imagery built from the rhetorical elements in Andi Bombang's Kun Fayakun novel. The rhetorical elements that are the focus of discussion in this study are figurative language or comparative types of figurative language, including metaphors, personifications, and similes. The data used are all language signs in the novel Kun Fayakun by Andi Bombang which are also useful as data sources. This study uses a semiotic method with a first-level reading technique, heuristics, for data collection and a second-level reading technique, hermeneutics, for data analysis. The results of this study show an explanation of the use of language forms in the realm of visual imagery that are built from rhetorical elements in Andi Bombang's Kun Fayakun novel. The use of visual imagery through rhetorical elements in the novel is used as an embodiment of a more real picture and an emphasis on meaning related to story events so that the reader can create concrete images.

Abstract

Penelitian Isu lingkungan terutama perubahan iklim dan penurunan keanekaragaman hayati, semakin mendesak dan mempengaruhi keberlangsungan hidup di Bumi. Karya sastra, seperti The Overstory oleh Richard Powers, berfungsi sebagai media untuk menyuarakan kekhawatiran ini dan meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya pelestarian alam. Dalam konteks ini, ekokritik menjadi pendekatan yang relevan untuk menganalisis cerpen Taman Bermain, yang menggambarkan hubungan kompleks antara manusia dan lingkungan. Analisis ini menunjukkan bagaimana narasi dalam cerpen mencerminkan kondisi ekologis dan sosial yang lebih luas, serta dampak negatif urbanisasi terhadap alam. Taman dalam cerita tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai ruang fisik, tetapi juga simbol kenangan dan kehilangan, mencerminkan perjalanan emosional karakter. Dengan pendekatan ekokritik, cerpen ini mengajak pembaca untuk mempertimbangkan tanggung jawab mereka terhadap alam dan menyoroti ketidakadilan ekologis. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif melalui analisis isi. Langkah awal yang dilakukan dalam pengumpulan data adalah menyimak langsung cerpen Taman Bermain dengan teliti untuk dapat membaca tanda atau simbol yang berkaitan dengan lingkungan. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan cara mengatur urutan data dari yang telah dikategorikan. Kemudian, mengumpulkan data menjadi satu pola dan satuan uraian dasar untuk dikembangkan menjadi kategorisasi data dan sintesiasi data. Lebih lanjut, dilakukan kondensasi data dan diakhiri dengan penarikan kesimpulan berdasarkan rumusan masalah dan hasil penelitian. Berdasarkan penelitian yang sudah dilakukan, cerpen Taman Bermain karya Alit Wahyuni memuat data : kesadaran mencintai lingkungan, keputusasaan merawat tanaman, mulai langkanya spesies tertentu di lingkungan sekitar, dan degradasi cinta lingkungan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction between the Concept Sentence type cooperative learning model and interest in reading poetry on poetry writing skills. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a population of all seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 9 and SMP Negeri 6 Purwokerto. The sample was taken using cluster simple random sampling technique. Data collection was done through tests and questionnaires. The analysis prerequisite tests include normality test (Liliefors) and homogeneity test (Bartlett). Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The results showed a significant interaction between the learning model and interest in reading poetry on poetry writing skills. This is indicated by the calculated F value of 7.71, which is greater than the table F value of 3.99 at a significance level of 0.05. Thus, the cooperative learning model and interest in reading poetry together have an effect on poetry writing skills.

Abstract

Urgensi literasi membaca di Indonesia, terutama dalam ranah pendidikan formal jenjang SMP menjadi alasan mendasar untuk menyelenggarakan kegiatan pengabdian sebagai upaya memberikan solusi konkret dalam mengatasi rendahnya minat baca. Melalui budaya literasi membaca, dapat menjadi sarana untuk menguatkan karakter bangsa dengan mempelajari cerita rakyat yang mengandung nilai-nilai moral berdasarkan kearifan lokal. Hal tersebut, diwujudkan dengan kegiatan pengabdian berupa sosialisasi literasi membaca melalui cerita rakyat di SMP Kota Yogykarta yang diselenggarakan dengan tujuan untuk dapat memberikan wawasan dan pengetahuan tentang cerita rakyat sebagai penanaman nilai kearifan lokal, khususnya di daerah Yogyakarta sekaligus menjadi langkah baik agar dapat membangkitkan motivasi dan minat baca siswa. Sosialisasi literasi membaca melalui cerita rakyat dilakukan secara langsung bertatap muka dengan peserta yang terlibat. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, dan kuisioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pemerolehan wawasan dan pengetahuan baru oleh para peserta, dari hasil perbandingan pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah sosialiasi dilakukan. Proses rangkaian kegiatan sosialisasi literasi membaca melalui cerita rakyat, dapat menunjukkan adanya antusiasme dan ketertarikan oleh para peserta untuk dapat lebih mengetahui dan memahami isi serta nilai-nilai yang terkandung di berbagai cerita rakyat, khususnya daerah Yogyakarta.

Abstract

This article examines the role of religiosity and humanitarian values in modern Indonesian literature and their implications for literature learning in higher education. Unlike philosophy or history, literature presents reality through imaginative expression while adhering to principles of plausibility, integrity, novelty, and aesthetic value, making it a strategic medium for conveying moral and spiritual messages. Using a descriptive-qualitative method with content analysis, this study analyzes selected literary works, including Sang Pencerah by Akhmal Nasery Basral, Negeri 5 Menara by A. Fuadi, Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata, Kubah by Ahmad Tohari, Family of Permana by Ramadhan K.H., as well as short stories by A.A. Navis, Umar Kayam, and Nugroho Notosusanto. The findings indicate that these works contain strong dimensions of religiosity, such as monotheism, worship, and faith, alongside humanitarian values including friendship, empathy, devotion, and social awareness, which are embedded in characters, settings, and narrative conflicts. These values can be utilized as effective media for character education in higher education, particularly in fostering tolerance, responsibility, and respect for others. The study offers novelty by integrating religious and humanitarian values into character-based literature learning strategies, positioning literature not only as an aesthetic form but also as a relevant instrument of moral and humanitarian education in responding to globalization and the moral challenges faced by younger generations.

Abstract

The legend of Alue Sungai Pinang is an oral tradition of the people of Aceh Barat Daya that represents cultural values and local wisdom. This research aims to describe and interpret the cultural values contained in the legend based on the theory of cultural value orientation of Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck. This research uses a literary approach with a descriptive-qualitative method. The research data is in the form of legend texts obtained from public speech and written documentation sources. Data collection is carried out through literature studies and documentation, while data analysis includes the process of identifying, classifying, and interpreting cultural values in texts. The results of the study show that the legend of Alue Sungai Pinang contains five cultural value orientations, namely the essence of human life, the essence of human work, the position of humans in space and time, the relationship between humans and nature, and the relationship between humans and others. This finding confirms that legends function as a medium for inheriting cultural values and strengthening the identity of the people of Aceh Barat Daya
