Abstract

This study explores the marriage crisis in the digital era through a netnographic analysis of TikTok content related to Generation Z's perceptions of marriage. The primary aim is to understand how Gen Z interprets the concept of marriage, examine the influence of TikTok content on their views, and identify key factors contributing to the crisis from the perspective of Islamic Family Law. Using a qualitative approach and netnographic methods, data were collected through observations of videos, comments, and trends on TikTok, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that Generation Z tends to have a dynamic, often conflicting understanding of marriage, shaped by both religious values and popular social media narratives. Phenomena such as the “marriage is scary” trend, the glorification of non-committed relationships, and fear of traditional marital roles significantly contribute to a negative perception of marriage. Additionally, low levels of digital and religious literacy further intensify this crisis. From the standpoint of Islamic Family Law, this situation highlights the need for more adaptive, digitally integrated educational and religious approaches. The study recommends active involvement of religious institutions and educators in crafting positive narratives about marriage in line with Islamic values, utilizing platforms like TikTok to effectively engage with Generation Z. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini mengkaji krisis pernikahan di era digital melalui studi netnografi terhadap konten-konten di platform TikTok yang berhubungan dengan persepsi Generasi Z terhadap institusi pernikahan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze parental responsibility towards children in the Society 5.0 era from the perspective of Islamic family law in Indonesia, as well as to identify relevant parenting patterns and challenges faced in Jakarta. The Society 5.0 era presents new challenges for Muslim families, especially related to digital interactions, the influence of technology on children's morals, and Sharia responsibilities that must still be carried out by parents. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with documentation techniques and interviews with several informants (parents, religious educators, and Islamic family law experts). The results of the study show that: a) Parental responsibility based on maqāṣid sharia now extends to the digital realm, including maintaining the honor and security of children's data. b) Parenting patterns such as smart-parenting, techno-modeling, and digital family contracts can strengthen children's spiritual and moral interactions in cyberspace. c) The main obstacles include time constraints, digital literacy gaps, children's dependence on gadgets, and minimal systemic support. d) The solutions offered include Islamic parenting training, selection of sharia applications, weekly reflections with children, and strengthening communities based on Islamic values.

Abstract

Work-life balance (WLB) is an individual's ability to balance the demands of work and personal life. For single parents, this balance is a big challenge considering that they have to carry out the dual role of being the breadwinner as well as the main caregiver in the family. The imbalance between work and personal life often triggers stress that has an impact on family conflict. This study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance on family conflict in single parents in Jelbuk District, Jember. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design to measure the relationship between work-life balance (Variable X) and family conflict (Variable Y). The study population consisted of single parents who have lived as single parents for at least two years. The sampling technique used stratified random sampling, with 10% of respondents taken from each age category of single parents. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The results of the study are expected to provide scientific insight into how work-life balance affects conflict in single-parent families. The findings are also expected to be a reference for intervention programs that support the improvement of family welfare through strengthening work-life balance in single parents.
