Abstract

Penyakit yang berkaitan dengan tekanan darah merupakan salah satau penyakit degeneratif yang saat ini sering tidak disadari masyarakat kehadirannya. Gangguan atau penyakit yang berkaitan dengan tekan darah umumnya terjadi pada lansia ataupun anak muda. Hal ini berkaitan dengan pola hidup dari masyrakat yang kurang sehat, keturunan ataupun konsumsi obat-obatan tertentu sehingga dapat menyebabkan penyakit degeneratif. Oleh karena itu pemeriksaan tekanan darah pada masyarakat sangat penting dilakukan sebagai deteksi dini penyakit degenerative dan edukasi mengenai penyakit degeneratif menjadi sangat penting dilakukan sebagai pencegahan agar masyarakat dapat menjaga pola hidup sehat. Pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilakukan di sekitar lokasi Kambang Iwak dan bertujuan untuk melakukan pemeriksaan tekanan darah masyarakat yang melakukan aktifitas di sekitar Kambang Iwak dan memberikan edukasi kepada msyarakat mengenai penyakit hipertensi sebagai salah satu penyakit degenerative. Metode yang digunakan diantaranya adalah survey lokasi dan persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat dapat mengetahui nilai tekanan darah dan mendapatkan edukasi mengenai hasil pengurkuran tekanan darah. Kegiatan pemeriksaan tekanan darah diikuti oleh 50 peserta dan 80% peserta memiliki nilai tekanan darah normal dan 20% penderita memiliki nilai tekanan darah yang cukup tinggi. Melalui pengabdian masyarakat ini, sangat membantu masyarakat sebagai upaya untuk deteksi dini mengenai penyakit hipertansi dan juga sebagai sarana edukasi untuk memberikan pengetahuan mengenai tekanan darah yang normal bagi tubuh serta deteksi dini dan pencegahan penyakit degeneratif. Sehingga melalui kegiatan ini, diharapakan mampu meningkatkan kesehatan masyarakat yang melakukan kegiatan didaerah Kambang Iwak Kota Palembang.

Abstract

Diabetes melitus merupakan penyakit yang diindikasikan oleh kadar gula darah yang melebihi batas normal. Pada pemeriksaan gula darah sewaktu, batas gula darah dikatakan normal jika berada dikisaran 70 mg/dL hingga 200 mg/dL. Tingginya kadar gula darah dapat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai aspek seperti pola hidup yang tidak sehat seperti konsumsi gula yang berlebih ataupun faktor genetik. Penyakit diabetes melitus dapat memicu berbagai penyakit lainnya bagi penderita dan bila dibiarkan dapat berdampak buruk bagi kesehatan penderita. Beberapa kalangan masyarakat saat ini masih memiliki keterbatasan dalam melakukan diagnosis dikarenakan masih minimnya edukasi mengenai penyakit diabetes kepada masyarakat. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan pengecekan gula darah sewaktu dan edukasi mengenai penyakit diabetes melitus sebagai upaya skrining awal bagi peserta kegiatan dan tindakan pencegahan agar masyarakat lebih peduli dengan kesehatan khususnya mengenai kadar gula darah. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini diantaranya adalah tahap persiapan dan observasi lapangan yang dilakukan di Kambang Iwak Palembang, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi data. Hasil kegiatan yang diikuti oleh 50 orang peserta ini, menunjukkan hasil kadar gula darah normal untuk seluruh peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan pemeriksaan kadar gula darah. Kegiatan edukasi yang diberikan kepada masyarakat mengenai diabetes melitus juga berdampak baik terhadap pengetahuan peserta mengenai batas normal kadar gula darah dan pola hidup yang harus dijaga untuk menghindari penyakit diabetes melitus.

Abstract

The Branded Imperial Eooxylides tharis Geyer, 1837 is a lycaenid butterflies found in mainland Sumatra and Belitung Island, but no references provided information if this butterfly occur in Bangka Island. On 7 December 2024, few individuals of E. tharis were observed and documented in Pelawan Forest, Namang  Village, Central Bangka  District, Bangka Island, Sumatra. In addition, there are two reports from citizen science platform about the presence of E. tharis in Bangka Island. The status of which subspecies is discussed, and it is possible that population of E. tharis from Bangka Island represent a new subspecies. Abstract

Pukan Beach is gently sloping intertidal sandy shores that have a great potential for tourist and having great number of inshore biodiversity in Bangka Island, Sumatra. A survey to collect information on species diversity of fishes has been conducted on 7 December 2024. The fishes were collected using a hand pulling fishing net as long as 5x7 m, at evening, time ranges between 4.00 p.m to 8.00 p.m. A total of 19 species of fishes from 14 families has been documented from the study site. Abstract

This study provides an annotated checklist of macrofungi in Pelawan Forest, Bangka Island, Indonesia. A total of 59 species of macrofungi from 22 families were documented, highlighting the presence of macrofungi in the area. The families Polyporaceae, Agaricaceae, and Marasmiaceae were the most diverse, accounting for over 50% of the total species recorded. The most common family found was Polyporaceae, with 13 species. Our findings indicate that Pelawan Forest has significant economic potential related to macrofungi, such as species used as food or medicine. This study can serve as a reference for developing effective conservation and management strategies for the forest ecosystem in Bangka Island. Abstract

This study examines documented cases of humans being preyed upon or attempted to be preyed upon by Reticulated Pythons Malayopython reticulatus in Indonesia, spanning nearly a century from 1927 to 2025. Our study reveals 17 incidents, with snakes involved measuring between 5-8 meters in length. The victims' ages ranged from 13 to 90 years old, with 13 fatalities reported. Both males and females were affected, with 8 incidents involving men and 8 involving women. Sulawesi emerges as a hotspot for such encounters, accounting for a significant proportion of reported cases. This study highlights the importance of understanding human-python encounters and promoting a more harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife in Indonesia. Abstract

This study reports new records of freshwater fish species from Simeulue Island, Aceh Province, Indonesia. A biodiversity survey conducted in July 2021 revealed five additional fish species not previously documented on the island, including Acentrogobius sp., Giuris margaritaceus, Cestraeus oxyrhyncus, Poecilia reticulata and Clarias sp. The survey also confirmed the presence of introduced species, such as Nile Tilapia Oreochromis niloticus and Guppy Poecilia reticulata, highlighting the need for monitoring and managing non-native species in the region. The discovery of C. oxyrhyncus, currently classified as Data Deficient, accentuates the importance of further research to determine its threats, ecology, population size, and trends. This study contributes to the understanding of freshwater fish diversity on Simeulue Island and emphasises the importance of conservation efforts to protect the biodiversity of small islands in Indonesia. Abstract

The Punti Kayu Recreation Forest is a managed urban green space in Palembang City, South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. Over three survey periods in 2010, 2012, and 2019, a total of 16 butterfly species from five families were recorded. The Nymphalidae family was the most dominant, with an increasing trend in species richness observed over time. The findings highlight the importance of urban green spaces for supporting butterfly diversity and emphasize the need for continued conservation efforts, including the creation of butterfly-friendly habitats and protection of existing green spaces.

Abstract

Indonesia, one of the world’s most biodiverse countries, hosts a staggering array of ecosystems and species, many of which remain undocumented, particularly spider (Arachnida: Araneae). While spiders are widely recognized for preying on insects and small animals, fish predation by spiders is a rare behavior predominantly associated with semi-aquatic species such as Dolomedes. This study reports three instances of fish predation by spiders in Indonesia, observed across North Sumatra, Bangka Belitung and East Kalimantan Province during biodiversity fieldwork in 2004, 2022 and 2024. Spider and fish species involved were identified using taxonomic keys and photographic documentation, revealing interactions between Dolomedes sp. and fish from taxa such as Cyprinid, Common Snakehead Channa striata and Licorice Gourami Parosphromenus sp. These findings provide valuable insights into this understudied phenomenon and highlight the need for further research into spider predation in Indonesia’s freshwater habitats.

Abstract

Water Buffalo Bubalus bubalis are an essential livestock species in Indonesia. However, mass mortality events have been reported in recent years, highlighting the need for better understanding and management of the causes of these cases. This study presents the first comprehensive retrospective analysis of B. bubalis mortality events in Indonesia between 2010 and 2025. Data were compiled from scientific reports, government records, media coverage, and citizen science platforms. A total of 34 documented events were identified, with most attributed to infectious diseases, particularly Septicemia Epizootica (SE) caused by Pasteurella multocida. Environmental stressors such as floods and droughts, along with parasitic infections like Surra, were also contributing factors. Mortality peaks occurred in 2013 and 2023, each involving hundreds of deaths in single outbreaks. These findings underscore the urgent need for region-specific disease surveillance, vaccination programs, and improved husbandry practices.
