Abstract

AbstractThis research was motivated by the demands of the 2013 curriculum where students are required to be able to think critically, so that a learning model was needed that can improve students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine the effect of applying the Problem Based Learning model to critical thinking skills of class XI IIS 2 Muhammadiyah Senior High School Pontianak. This research was conducted with a quantitative approach and a quasi experimental design method with the form of Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design and the sample in this study was a class XI IIS student of Muhammadiyah 2 High School Pontianak. The results of prettest and posttets analysis of data on sociology subjects in class XI IIS of Muhammadiyah 2 High School in Pontianak showed that 1) the Gain calculation results obtained increased by 16.53 points, between the matter of the pretest and Posttest. 2) the average result of the posttest question of the first meeting is 64.20 and the second meeting is 74.67. 3) the results of the percentage of completeness of students in working on the problem of the first posttest meeting 73% with 22 students completing from 30 students and the second meeting amounting to 90% with 27 students completed from 30 students. 4) the results of the Wilcoxon first meeting with a significance value of 0,000 and the second meeting with a significance value of 0,000, with a significance level of 0.05. Keywords: Problem Based Learning Model, Thinking Ability Critical

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe goal of this research was to know the associative social interaction in forms of cooperation and accommodation of arowana fish entrepreneurs at Tanjung Village in Suhaid Sub-district of Kapuas Hulu District. The method used was qualitative method with descriptive analysis. The data collection tools were observation guidelines, interview guidelines, and documentation tools. The data analysis techniques used were datareduction, data presentation, decision making, and verification. The results were (1) the associative social interaction in form of the traditional cooperation in arowana fish entrepreneurs at Tanjung Village in Suhaid Sub-district of Kapuas Hulu District, was evident in M. Amin, Saleh, Ruslan, Sunardi and Syah Bandi who helped each other in theprocess of fishing in other areas in Kapuas Hulu, in the process of marketing fish to costumers in several areas, in the process of fish packaging ordered by customers in Pontianak, in the process of delivering fish to Pontianak, in the process of arowana fish contest at PCC building in Pontianak; (2) the associative social interaction in form of thecompromise accommodation in arowana fish entrepreneurs at Tanjung Village in Suhaid Sub-district of Kapuas Hulu District, was proven in Ruslan and Sunardi in finding solutions to their entrepreneurship problems through discussion.Keywords:Arowana Fish Entrepreneur, Social Interaction.

Abstract

AbstractThis study was conducted to explain and analyze the role of parents in introducing sex education to teenagers in Kampung Kapur, Banjar Serasan, East Pontianak. This study aims to determine parental understanding of sex education, how parents carried out their role as educators, friends, and counselors in introducing sex education. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive method. The sources of this research were parents and teenagers in Kampung Kapur. The results of the study indicate that; 1) the role of parents as educators in introducing sex education to teenagers and played a role in educating their children. Parents gave about sex and moral values, mass media, and religious values to their children in the form of advice and prohibitions, 2) the role of parents as friends in introducing sex education to teenager had not played well where parents still lack of knowledge about sexual transmitted diseases. Therefore, there was no explanation from the parent to their children, 3) the role of parents as counselors in introducing sex education to teenager showed that the parents did not have enough understanding about sex such as puberty, fertility, function and reproductive health, they were still considered this as taboo.Keywords: Role of Parents, Sex Education, Teenagers.

Abstract

 AbstractThis research aimed to study the implementation of the scientific approach to teaching and learning Sociology in Senior High Schools in Pontianak City. The form of research was is quantitative with a descriptive approach. All Sociology teachers from 10 schools were taken as the population. Twelve instructors who have implemented the Curriculum of 2013 were taken as the sample. The data collection techniques used are survey and documentation, as well as the data collection tools used are questionnaires, notes, and archives. The data collected were calculated using SPSS 18.0. The descriptive hypothesis test used was one sample t-test testing to verify whether or not a specific value (as a comparison) is significantly different from the average of a sample. The data analysis was presented in percentages. The findings showed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha ) was approved. The Scientific Approach in Sociology teaching and learning in High Schools in Pontianak City has been implemented with an average of 87.84%, categorized as very good. Keywords: Scientific Approach, Teaching and Learning Sociology

Abstract

AbstractThis research is intended to find out the process of developing a lesson plan for sociology teachers at SMA Kemala Bhayangkari Sungai Raya. The approach of this research is a qualitative approach, and the method is a descriptive method. The researcher used observation, interview, and documentation as the techniques of data collection. Furthermore, the analysis in this research was presented in a descriptive qualitative which deals with 3 informants, they are the sociology teachers from SMA Kemala Bhayangkari Sungai Raya. The result showed that the aspects of the syllabus development, the identification of material, objective, model, method, strategies, assessment, and the time allocation were had been done successfully based on each indicators. However, there are still some aspects that need to be fixed in the lesson plan that will be used by the teachers. Consequently, the development of the lesson plan will be well develop, and it will be able to be used in teaching and learning process.Key words: Development, Lesson plan, Sociology, Teachers

Abstract

AbstractThe title of  this research was The use of animation media in Social science subject of 1st grade student in Junior High School 2 Sungai Raya. The problem in this research was how is the use of animation media in Social science subject of 1st grade student in Junior High School 2 Sungai Raya. The purpose of this research was to find out about the use of animation media in Social science subject of 1st grade student in Junior High School 2 Sungai Raya.The approach used in this research was qualitative research method with descriptive analysis. The techniques of data collecting were observation, interview and documentation study, while the tools of data collecting were observation guide, interview guide, documnetation, and camera. The results of this research showed that: (1) The planning for Social science learning using animation media went well, all stages implemented well; (2) Good respons from students in Social science learning using animation media proved by their interest and enthusiastic increased in following and participating in all learning activities; and (3) Positive effect from using animation media in Social science learning proved by animation media can attract students’ interest and motivate them, moreover students can have a better, faster, and easier understansing in learning material.Keywords: Animation Media, Social Science Subject, The Use of Learning Media

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to give explaination the Role of Teachers as Motivators in Improving Student Creativity in Sociology Subjects in class XI IIS Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak High School. This research aims to determine the teacher’s role as a motivator in improving student creativity and forms of creativity developed by teachers on sociology subjects. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The Data  collection techniques were observation, interviews and documentation while the data collection tools were observations guides, document and cameras. The informants in this study were sociology teachers and class XI students at IIS Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak Senior High Shool. The result showed that, (1) The role of the teachers as a motivator in enhancing student creativity in sociology teachers and class XI IIS Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak Senior High was well done by the teachers in the classroom, this was evidenced when starting learning the teachers opened by telling stories according to the materials learn, respond well when student argue and explain again if not understood, to arouse students learning enthusiasm teachers intersperse learning with games, encourage students to continue learning, try to achieve high achievements and boast parents, stressing learning is important for the future with provide motivation that encourages students to actively learn. (2) The forms of student creativity that are enhanced by the teahers as a motivator in the subjects of sociology learning are in terms of being active in discussions, asking questions, and expressing opinions during the teaching and learning process. Keywords: Teachers’s Role, Students’s Creativity

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the effect of peer relationships on students' learning motivation in sociology subjects in XI IIS class at SMA Negeri 1 Batang Lupar. The research method used in this research is quantitative research. The data sources of this research are 49 students of XI IIS class and the data is in the form of student questionnaire answer sheets. The results showed that peer association with the same percentage of age (47.66%), intimacy (41%), the group size (41%), and the cognitive development (40%) was included in the quite effective category. The students' learning motivation with the percentage of being diligent in facing assignments (41%), the tenacious in facing difficulties (43%), the interest in learning problems (42%), happy to work independently (41.5%), not bored in tasks activity (41.8 %), can defend opinions (46.5%) and enjoy solving problems (49%) are included in the category of quite effective. The influence of peer association on students' learning motivation in sociology subjects in XI IIS class at SMA Negeri 1 Batang Lupar obtained tcount 20.778 when compared with a table at a significant level of 5% of 2.011, then tcount> ttable (20.778 > 2.011) then, Ha is accepted. The magnitude of the influence of peer association on student motivation in SMA Negeri 1 Batang Lupar with a correlation coefficient value of 0.902. By the percentage of the contribution of peer association influence on learning motivation of 90.2%, while the remaining 9.8% is influenced by other variables that not examined in this research. Keywords: Learning Motivation, Peer Association, Sociology lesson

Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to find out how, The Role of Parents in Raising a Child’s in Learning (A Case Study of a Class V SDN 02 Selimbau). The method in this study used is descriptive with qualitative forms of research. The source of this research is the parents in the villages in the district selimbau. The data-gathering technique in this study is through interviews, observations, and documentations, while the data-collection tool used is the guideline for interviews, observation and documentation. The analysis in the study is presented in a qualitative descriptive way by using the parents' four - person informers. The result show that: (1) The role of parents as motivator increasing interest in child study well categorized, this is proven with the parents always motivate her children to be diligent studying. (2) The role of parents as facilitators in increasing interest learning kids are good, this can be seen from facilities that was given to me by that good old man they include food, clothing, and shelter. (3) The role of the parent as the mediator in increasing interest in learning kids are pretty good, this stuff i can see the parents has good communication with her children.Keywords: Interest in Learning, Role, Parents

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the use of teacher teaching methods on sociology subjects in class X IPS A Ngabang 1 Public High School. The research method used is descriptive. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews and documentation studies. In this research, the data source was sociology teacher in class X IPS A Ngabang 1 Public High School. The results show that the use of the lecture method by the teacher has been used each time teaching in class X IPS A. In presenting the subject matter to students using the lecture method, the teaching facilities used by the teacher are LKS and the selection of the use of lecture methods is based on student factors, subject matter and teaching facilities. The use of the question and answer method by the teacher has been used each time carrying out learning in class X IPS A. As long as the learning activities take place using the question and answer method, only a few students actively ask and answer their questions. In addition, the selection of the question and answer method is based on the characteristics of the learning material. The teaching facilities used by the teacher are LKS. Keywords: Teaching Method, Lectures, Question and Answer
