Abstract

The role of academics in achieving the goal of educating the nation is very important, as demonstrated by lecturers and academic staff. Effective time management is essential, yet procrastination is still common, often putting off tasks such as preparing teaching materials, grading, and completing research. Procrastination, a complex issue involving self-control, negatively impacts work quality and academic productivity. This study aims to analyses the influence of self-control on academic procrastination among lecturers and academic staff at Kalimantan Institute of Technology, focusing on gender-based patterns. Using purposive sampling, data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS). Findings showed a significant negative relationship between self-control and procrastination, with a stronger effect among male academics. This suggests that higher self-control correlates with lower procrastination tendencies. These results underscore the importance of self-control in managing academic responsibilities and highlight the need for targeted interventions to improve time management and self-regulation. It is recommended that educational institutions develop training programs that focus on improving self-control, especially tailored to male academics, to reduce procrastination and improve overall productivity.

Abstract

Kampung Banyumas merupakan daerah yang memiliki dataran lahan tani yang signifikan dengan jumlah penduduk 184 kepala keluarga dengan mayoritas kepala keluarga berprofesi sebagai petani (75%) dengan komoditas utama singkong. Singkong melimpah namun pemanfaatannya kurang optimal karena pemasaran hasil pertanian masih bergantung kepada tengkulak. Belum ada inovasi produk singkong yang dilakukan, hal ini dikarenakan masih kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat Kampung Banyumas untuk mengolah singkong menjadi produk yang memiliki nilai jual lebih tinggi. Sehingga, penulis melaksanakan pelatihan dan pendampingan guna mengoptimalkan pengolahan singkong di Kampung Banyumas. Melakukan pemberdayaan masyarakat, mengolah bahan baku singkong menjadi keripik dan tepung mocaf dengan alat sederhana. Metode yang digunakan adalah melakukan sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan. Sosialisasi adalah proses pemberian informasi kepada masayarakat untuk meningkatkan pemahaman. Sedangkan, pelatihan dan pendampingan merupakan kegiatan membersamai masyarakat sasaran untuk melakukan latihan, memberi contoh praktik yang dilakukan secara bersama-sama. Hasil kegiatan ini merupakan wujud pemberdayaan, memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada masyarakat tentang produk olahan singkong. Mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan singkong serta meningkatkan efisiensi produksi dan kualitas produk yang dihasilkan. Dari hasil monitoring menunjukkan bahwa program ini bermanfaat, meningkatkan keterampilan masyarakat, serta mendapat respons positif dari masyarakat. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat membantu masyarakat Kampung Banyumas menjadi masyarakat produktif, menciptakan peluang ekonomi yang dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat setempat.

Abstract

This community service initiative is a collaboration with the Balikpapan Branch of the Indonesian Orchid Lovers Community (PAI). The activity aims to improve the competitiveness of local orchids in Balikpapan through product innovation. The main challenges faced by the partner, Bakoel Kembang Ruhui Rahayu, are low service and packaging diversification, a lack of product information, and suboptimal branding. These conditions hamper market penetration and limit the selling value of orchid products. Through product innovation, it is hoped that orchids will have more competitive added value. The objective of this activity is to equip partners with the skills to design creative and informative services and packaging, as well as improve the quality of product displays. The implementation method includes practice-based training, starting from researching service and packaging trends, material selection, design planning, and packaging simulations with QR code integration. Evaluation was carried out through participant feedback and testing the feasibility of packaging in the local market. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' skills in designing market-standard service and packaging models for young, juvenile, and mature orchids. All participants were able to create packaging designs with clear labels and product information. Improvements in services related to product innovation were recorded significantly, such as Custom Bouquets and Hampers (225%), Classes and Workshops (200%) and Online Sales (160%). Participants also began integrating packaging with digital marketing strategies to increase sales reach. Positive impacts were seen in the increased variety of services and the enhanced professional image of the products. In conclusion, this product innovation training successfully achieved its target, expanded partner services, and increased the market appeal of local orchids.
