Abstract

This study aims to determine whether Duolingo application effectively increases students’ interest and how much it increases student’s interest in Arabic learning. This study used a quantitative approach with experimental methods (one group pretest posttest design), and the population was class IX students of MTs Al Riyadhul Jannah. The sample in this study were students of class IX C, totaling 21 students using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data hypothesis testing was carried out through paired sample t-test and N gain test. The results showed a significance value of 0,003 < 0,05 that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, also the N gain percent value was 26,8198. So, Duolingo application is effective in increasing students’ interest in Arabic language learning and there is an increase in interest by 26,82%. The main contribution in this study is to apply new teaching media based on online games that are expected to increase students’ interest in Arabic learning.

Abstract

Authentic assessment is an assessment that can describe the development of learning. At the same time, it can assess the process and learning outcomes of students by directly observing the student learning process. The purpose of this study was to examine the assessment of reading skills in the Al-’Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik textbook Volume II and to innovate authentic assessments that can be carried out on these skills. This research method was qualitative research. The research technique used was literature study. The source used in this study was the primary source in the form of the Al-’Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik textbook Volume II. Meanwhile, the secondary sources were journals, books and other relevant data. The data analysis techniques used were content analysis and descriptive analysis by collecting data and interpreting data. The conclusion of this study was to innovate the maharah qira’ah practice in the Al-’Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik textbook Volume II with the theory of authentic assessment by giving authentic assignments to retell the content of the reading. Retelling the content of the reading is one of the productive language skills that produces ideas and thoughts. Innovation in authentic assessment by giving authentic assignments to the Al-’Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik textbook Volume II can improve the quality of improving the maharah qira’ah in Arabic learning.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the language of instruction used in class VII Arabic textbooks published by the Ministry of Religion. The language used for instruction in class VII Arabic textbooks should be easily understood by students, so it is necessary to analyze it in order to evaluate it if there are any discrepancies in it. This research used qualitative methods with a library research approach. The result explained that there are 115 questions instructions in the Arabic textbooks for class VII MTs published by the Ministry of Religion in 2020 which is divided into 6 chapters. In chapter I there were 23 question instructions, chapter II 19 question instructions, chapter III 23 question instructions, chapter IV 16 question instructions, chapter V 18 question instructions, and chapter VI question instructions. Instruction language that complies with the 1st criteria is 99,1%, 2nd and 3rd criteria are 100%, 4th criteria is 57,4%, and 5th criteria is 18,3%. So that this book is feasible to be used as Arabic teaching material by evaluating several points to comply with the feasibility of teaching materials based on Rusydi Ahmad Thu’aimah’s standards, especially in the theory of instruction language.
