Abstract

Buying and selling is part of economic activities that cannot be separated from human life, both in the past and in the present. In the view of Islam, buying and selling is an aspect of life that is grouped into muamalah issues, namely relationships between fellow humans that are regulated so that they remain fair and do not harm each other. With the view of the Qur'an and Hadith, we can find out how the principles of justice in buying and selling are applied. The principles of justice in buying and selling include honesty in conveying information, the willingness of both parties, as well as the prohibition of fraudulent practices (tadlis) and usury. All these values aim to make buying and selling run in a fair way and in accordance with Islamic teachings. In practice, these principles also include the need for an agreement without coercion, clarity of the object of the transaction (bayyinah), and fulfillment of the rights and obligations of each party. This research is important to provide a deeper understanding of Islamic business ethics in the contemporary context, especially in the midst of the development of the digital economy and the rise of online transactions that are prone to manipulation of information and exploitation of weak parties.

Abstract

The Islamic economy, based on the principles of justice, equality, and the prohibition of usury, offers alternative financing through profit-sharing contracts, particularly mudharabah and musyarakah. These contracts are key instruments in Islamic banking; however, their implementation in Indonesia still faces challenges, including the dominance of non–profit-sharing products, financing risks, and regulatory limitations. This study aims to analyze the implementation of risk management in mudharabah and musyarakah financing. The research method employs a library research approach with qualitative descriptive analysis. Data were collected through documentation studies of primary and secondary literature, including books, journal articles, DSN-MUI fatwas, and relevant regulations. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis, which involved identifying themes, classifying information, and synthesizing findings. The results show that risk management in mudharabah and musyarakah includes the processes of risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation, tailored to the nature of each contract. Mitigation strategies include customer feasibility analysis, business monitoring, document verification, and limited use of collateral. Although these contracts have the potential to support inclusive economic development, their application still requires strengthening public knowledge, improving regulations, and implementing systematic risk management to optimize their benefits.

Abstract

Zakat and waqf are two fundamental pillars in Islamic economics, both of which play a strategic role in promoting social welfare and economic stability. This study explores the contribution of zakat and waqf to monetary stability from an Islamic economic perspective, aiming to support sustainable development in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative library research method, the study collects and analyzes data from books, scientific journals, and relevant documents discussing zakat and waqf within the context of Islamic economics. The findings indicate that zakat, through its direct redistribution of wealth, helps increase the purchasing power of the underprivileged and reduce income inequality, while waqf, especially in its productive form, supports the development of public infrastructure and social facilities. Both instruments, when managed professionally and transparently, can serve as complementary tools for fiscal and monetary policy, enhancing economic resilience and inclusivity. The synergy between zakat and waqf not only addresses immediate social needs but also contributes to long-term economic growth by empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and investing in education and health sectors. However, the study also highlights the need for further empirical research to measure the direct impact of zakat and waqf on national monetary stability. In conclusion, optimizing the management of zakat and waqf in accordance with Islamic principles can significantly strengthen the foundation of a just and sustainable economic system in Indonesia.

Abstract

The issue of economic sustainability and the global environmental crisis has created an urgent need for a just, sustainable, and environmentally friendly development system. The green economy has emerged as a solution, emphasizing resource efficiency, carbon emission reduction, and social equity. In this context, Islamic economic principles and Sharia-based monetary instruments can play a strategic role in supporting the transition to green development. This article aims to examine the integration of Sharia-compliant monetary instruments such as green sukuk, mudharabah, musyarakah, productive zakat, and environmental waqf in realizing economic sustainability based on Islamic green economy principles. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The findings show that Islamic financial instruments are not only aligned with sustainability values but also capable of promoting economic stability, empowering the real sector, and enhancing equitable wealth distribution. This integration is in line with maqashid shariah and contributes significantly to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, its implementation still faces challenges, including regulatory gaps, low public literacy, and limited access to green infrastructure. Therefore, cross-sectoral collaboration is essential to strengthen policy, expand education, and foster innovation in Sharia-based financing to achieve inclusive and sustainable development..

Abstract

Abstract

Professional zakat represents an advanced development of zakat concepts within the framework of contemporary economic dynamics, positioning income derived from professional activities as a zakatable asset with significant socio-economic implications. This study aims to examine the contribution of professional zakat to the enhancement of community welfare through structured distribution mechanisms and sustainable empowerment programs. The research employs a literature-based approach by reviewing modern fiqh perspectives, Islamic welfare theories, and empirical studies related to the effectiveness of zakat management. The findings indicate that professional zakat functions as a redistributive instrument capable of reducing income inequality, strengthening the economic capacity of beneficiaries, and fostering social stability. Transparent and accountable management by zakat institutions demonstrates its strategic potential in expanding welfare impacts. Accordingly, the optimization of professional zakat can serve as a fundamental pillar for promoting inclusive and equitable economic development within the Muslim community.

Abstract

The digital economic transformation has significantly altered financial transaction patterns, particularly through the transition from cash-based payments to digital systems. In Indonesia, the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), introduced by Bank Indonesia, serves as a national standard for QR code–based digital payments. This study examines the role of QRIS in shaping financial transaction behavior in the digital era and evaluates its compatibility with Islamic economic principles. Using a library research method, this study analyzes academic literature, regulatory documents, and prior studies related to digital payments and Islamic finance. The findings indicate that QRIS enhances transaction efficiency, supports financial inclusion, and improves financial transparency, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). From an Islamic economic perspective, QRIS functions as a payment instrument and does not affect contract validity as long as transactions are conducted voluntarily, transparently, and free from riba, gharar, and maysir. Nevertheless, concerns remain regarding the fairness of the Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) if mutual consent is unclear. Overall, QRIS contributes to an inclusive and efficient digital financial ecosystem within Islamic economic principles.

Abstract

Productive waqf is one of the Islamic economic instruments with great potential to support social development and community economic empowerment. In Indonesia, waqf assets are widely distributed in various forms; however, most of them are still managed traditionally and not optimally. This study aims to describe the condition of productive waqf in Indonesia, identify the main challenges in its management, and formulate more effective and sustainable development approaches. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method by analyzing scientific publications, waqf-related regulations, and previous research findings. The results indicate that the low professionalism of nazhir, limited public literacy regarding waqf, weak technical regulations, and lack of innovation in asset management are the main obstacles to the development of productive waqf. Therefore, transparent, professional, and empowerment-based waqf management is necessary to ensure that waqf can optimally contribute to social welfare and sustainable economic development.
