Abstract

Tristaniopsis obovata  Benn. is one of the herbal plants that contains phenolics flavonoids, saponins, tannins and steroids/triterpenoids. The secondary metabolites are known to have antioxidant activity and toxicity that can affect hematological profiles. This study aims to determine the toxicity effects of ethanol extract of T. obovata Benn. leaves on LD50 value, erythrocyte morphology, and hematological profile in white rats. The study used a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 repeats. The treatment consisted of P0 (control), P1 (dose of 300 mg/kg body weight) (P1), P2 (dose of 2000 mg/kg body weight), and P3 (dose of 5000 mg/kg body weight). LD50 calculation using AOT 425 StatPgm software and hematological profile analysis using ANOVA. The results showed LD50 value of T. obovata Benn. leaf extract. was 1.750 mg/kg BW as mild toxic. The morphology of P2 erythrocytes shows abnormal form anisocytosis and P3 form Burr cells and macrocytosis. The administration of extract in all treatments  was not significant from the number of erythrocytes, leukocytes and hemoglobin comcentration of white rats.

Abstract

Negative impact of the development over time in the health aspect is the change in lifestyle or unhealthy dietary habits, particularly through the consuming of instant foods, which can trigger diabetes. Excessive sugar consumption can lead to increasing weight and blood sugar levels, and potentially cause type-2 diabetes (DM). The community of Koto Ringin Village has developed a family medicinal plant program (TOGA) as part of a strategy to improve community health. This program demonstrates proactive steps in addressing health challenges in Koto Ringin Village, both through disease management and community-based health initiatives like TOGA. The purpose of this community service is to improve the understanding of the PKK (Family Welfare Movement) members of Koto Ringin Village by educating them about plants that are useful for lowering blood sugar levels. This community service is also intended for transferring knowledge from the academic environment to the community at large, especially to the members of PKK Koto Ringin Village, Mempura District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. This activity was attended by 18 women from the PKK of Koto Ringin. The results of the activity showed that the participants’ knowledge improved from 41.1 to 90.0.

Abstract

Climate change driven by greenhouse gas emissions highlights the need to estimate carbon stocks in various ecosystems, including peatlands increasingly converted into oil palm plantations. This study aimed to estimate aboveground carbon (AGC) stocks in oil palm plantations on Tapung peatland, Kampar, Riau. The research was conducted from February to August 2025 in Pagaruyung, Air Terbit, and Sungai Putih villages using purposive sampling with 0.05 ha circular plots. Tree biomass and necromass were estimated with allometric equations, while understory and litter were measured directly. Results showed total carbon stocks ranged from 21.43 to 24.78 ton/ha, with the highest in Air Terbit (24.78 ton/ha), followed by Pagaruyung (23.30 ton/ha), and Sungai Putih (21.43 ton/ha). Oil palm trees were the main contributors (±15–17 ton/ha), followed by necromass (6–9 ton/ha), whereas litter (0.14–0.20 ton/ha) and understory (0.03–0.05 ton/ha) contributed minimally. Variations were influenced by tree age, canal conditions, and plantation management. The study concludes that oil palm trees dominate AGC storage, while necromass provides medium-term carbon reserves. Management recommendations include maintaining oil palm stands, utilizing frond necromass, and sustainably managing litter and understory to support climate change mitigation.

Abstract

The application how processing to fertilizer from household waste with earthworms aims to add positive and productive activities among the farmers of Kampung Bunga Raya in order to increase the economic value of farmers' income. The method used was counseling and direct practice in the field with 19 participants from farmer groups. The results obtained are 1 kg of household waste can produce 2 kg of organic fertilizer and 500 grams of worms. The fertilizer obtained can be used for oil palm plantations and gardening of farming communities in Bunga Raya village, Bunga Raya district, Siak. The Cultivation of earthworms are using household waste can overcome the problem of availability of fertilizer for plantations.

Abstract

Sialang Baru Village since the Covid 19 pandemic has affected the local community's economy, especially in the business of processing duck eggs into salted eggs. So far, the use of duck eggs that have not been optimal has become an obstacle in developing their business. The purpose of this service is to find a way to make smoked salted eggs using an efficient and inexpensive oven. The result of making smoked salted eggs using a smoking oven from an oil drum-sized drum produces smoked salted eggs that have a gritty egg yolk texture and taste better than unsmoked salted eggs. The color of salted eggs is better which is light brown compared to using smoking eggs with a gas smoking oven. The cost of making an oven is cheaper than making a gas smoking oven. The smoking oven has helped the UKM community of Kampung Silang Baru in producing smoked salted eggs that are efficient, so that it is possible to further improve the UKM economy.
