Abstract

This journal examines the role of the kabanti tradition in projecting social ethics and local literacy in Buton, Southeast Sulawesi. Kabanti, a form of oral and written literature rich in Islamic and local cultural values, has become an important medium for the dissemination of Islamic teachings and the cultivation of social values within the Buton community. Despite facing challenges from globalization and digitization, the kabanti tradition persists as a vital part of Buton's cultural identity. This research employs an exploratory, sociological, and ethnographic approach to understand how kabanti maintains and strengthens the norms, values, and social identity of the Buton community. The results indicate that kabanti is not merely an oral and written tradition but also a social institution that influences the way of life and human interactions within the Buton community. Consequently, this research contributes to preserving and empowering local cultural heritage through the kabanti tradition.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Fatwa Number 80 of 2022 on consumer interest in halal-certified products among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), specifically pempek at 26 Ilir Market in Palembang. The research employs a qualitative socio-legal approach, utilizing interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that halal certification influences consumer purchasing decisions, as products with a halal label are perceived as more trustworthy and compliant with Islamic business ethics. However, MSMEs face challenges such as certification costs, lack of awareness, and regulatory complexity. The study concludes that integrating fatwa-based regulations with legal frameworks for halal product assurance plays a crucial role in shaping consumer preferences and strengthening the halal market ecosystem. Strengthening halal certification policies and socialization efforts is essential for enhancing MSME competitiveness in Indonesia's halal industry.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between Islam, Averroism, and democracy within public education, emphasizing their impact on social equity. It investigates how Islamic principles such as justice (ʿadl), consultation (shūrā), and public interest (maṣlaḥah), alongside Ibn Rushd’s rationalist philosophy, can support the development of inclusive and democratic educational frameworks. Employing a qualitative approach, the research integrates philosophical and theological analysis with a review of educational policies in Muslim-majority countries, analyzing primary and secondary sources to assess the alignment of religious ethics, rational inquiry, and democratic values in education. Using thematic analysis, the study identifies challenges in balancing traditional religious curricula with modern pedagogical methods, particularly in fostering critical thinking and democratic participation. Despite these obstacles, it underscores the potential for integrating religious ethics and rationalist thought to establish more equitable and participatory education policies. By synthesizing Islamic traditions, Averroist rationalism, and democratic ideals, this research provides a novel perspective on education reform and offers valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers. Future studies should explore the empirical application of this framework across diverse educational settings to enhance inclusivity and social justice.

Abstract

AbstractThis study explores the YukNgaji community’s #LessWaste campaign as a community-driven Islamic ecotheology model. Amid environmental crises requiring sustainable action, the initiative bridges Islamic stewardship (khalifah) and responsibility (amanah) with ecological awareness. Using qualitative methods—virtual ethnography, community-based education theory, and Living Qur’an-Hadith analysis—data were gathered via observations, interviews, and digital content assessment. Results indicate #LessWaste effectively integrates Islamic ecological values through digital activism and offline practices (e.g., waste donation, reusable items). The campaign functions as both an environmental movement and adaptive educational platform, engaging Muslim youth with modern challenges. It highlights hybrid activism’s role in Islamic education, suggesting applicability across diverse Muslim communities. Future studies should test similar frameworks in varied socio-cultural contexts to evaluate sustained behavioral change. How to Cite: Alanazi, M. S. Abstract

This research aims to explore the implementation of zakat management models from Indonesia and Malaysia in Afghanistan to enhance zakat effectiveness. The study employs a comparative analysis of successful practices in both countries, focusing on their applicability to Afghanistan's context. Findings indicate that adopting elements from Indonesia's community participation and Malaysia's centralized approach can improve transparency and efficiency in zakat management. The research concludes that Afghanistan must develop a comprehensive legal framework, establish a national zakat authority, and raise public awareness to overcome existing challenges. By integrating these strategies, Afghanistan can maximize zakat's potential to reduce poverty and promote social justice.
