Abstract

The study explores the effectiveness of interactive learning multimedia in boosting Gen-Z’s scientific literacy. There were 46 Gen-Z were involved from 2 (two) junior high school in Makassar. The research design was one group pretest-posttest design and the data collection used a set of scientific literacy test (multiple choices) and a questionnaire on the attitude towards science. There were 3 (three) domains of scientific literacy were measured namely; competency, knowledge, and attitude towards science. The result proves that the interactive multimedia is effectively enhance Gen-Z’s scientific literacy with n-gain value of average is 0,62 or in moderate category. The interactive multimedia was implemented using problem- based learning method which also contributed to the improvement of gen-Z’s scientific literacy. Moreover, the interactive multimedia is equipped with learning material including simulations which organized according to the students’ need as well as the existence of virtual laboratory allowed Gen-Z’s to sharpening their understanding about the given material. Ultimately, the presence of digital interactive multimedia is unconsciously taking part to the government’s initiatives to enhance the digital literacy among the citizens in education sector.  KeyThe study explores the effectiveness of interactive learning multimedia in boosting Gen-Z’s scientific literacy. Abstract

Learning motivation is one of the key factors influencing students' academic achievement in higher education. This study aims to examine the relationship between learning motivation and academic achievement among students in the Basic Science Concepts course. The research subjects consisted of 161 students from the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program at Universitas Negeri Makassar who were enrolled in the course. A correlational quantitative method was employed, with data analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed (significance = 0.001), prompting the use of a non-parametric correlation test. The Spearman test results revealed a significant relationship between learning motivation and academic achievement (significance = 0.001) with a correlation coefficient of 0.325, indicating a low-strength positive correlation. These findings suggest that learning motivation contributes to students’ academic achievement, although not dominantly. Therefore, strategies to enhance learning motivation should be continuously developed to support students' academic performance, particularly in basic science learning.

Abstract

The rapid development of educational technology has brought significant changes to science learning, primarily by integrating virtual laboratories. These tools provide interactive and student-centered experiences that are more accessible than conventional labs. This study explores the importance of PhET-based virtual labs in enhancing students' understanding of energy and work concepts in a Basic Science Concepts course, emphasizing their relevance in modern, inquiry-based science education. This research analyzes university students’ perceptions of the usability and quality of PhET simulations used in the course. Using a quantitative survey method, data were collected from 161 randomly selected university students through a Likert-scale questionnaire. The results show an overall satisfaction rate of 71.68%, indicating a positive response categorized as "good." Students particularly appreciated the user-friendly interface and dynamic visualizations that encouraged independent exploration and more profound comprehension of abstract concepts. The study concludes that PhET-based virtual labs are practical supplementary tools in science education. Despite limitations such as reliance on self-reported data and short-term evaluation, the findings highlight the potential of virtual labs to enhance conceptual learning. Future research should investigate long-term learning outcomes and compare virtual, traditional, and blended learning environments to optimize instructional strategies.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan memperkuat peran guru madrasah ibtidaiyah sebagai agen perubahan berwawasan pendidikan lingkungan. Program ini berupaya meningkatkan kapasitas guru dalam mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai kepedulian lingkungan ke dalam proses pembelajaran melalui pelatihan pembuatan eco-enzyme sebagai media yang mendukung pengelolaan limbah organik. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahap utama: (1) analisis kebutuhan untuk mengidentifikasi tingkat pemahaman awal guru; (2) pelatihan dan pendampingan dalam proses pembuatan eco-enzyme; dan (3) tahap implementasi dan evaluasi untuk menilai efektivitas kegiatan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam menerapkan konsep pendidikan lingkungan, yang ditunjukkan oleh kenaikan nilai dari pre-test sebesar 44,4% menjadi 55,6% pada post-test. Peningkatan tersebut mengindikasikan efektivitas kegiatan dalam memperkuat kompetensi pedagogis dan kesadaran ekologis guru. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini berkontribusi pada penguatan peran guru sebagai agen perubahan dalam mewujudkan sekolah berwawasan lingkungan dan diharapkan dapat menjadi model praktik baik (best practice) pendidikan lingkungan berbasis partisipasi guru di tingkat sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam merancang dan memanfaatkan alat peraga sederhana berbasis lingkungan sebagai media pembelajaran di sekolah dasar. Program ini dilaksanakan di SDN Centre Malino, Kabupaten Gowa, dan diikuti oleh 15 guru dari berbagai jenjang kelas. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan bimbingan dan pelatihan yang mencakup kegiatan teoritis dan praktik langsung. Guru dibimbing mulai dari tahap identifikasi capaian pembelajaran, pemetaan potensi lingkungan lokal, hingga pembuatan dan penerapan alat peraga di kelas. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam keterampilan dan kreativitas guru setelah mengikuti pelatihan. Berdasarkan hasil pre-test dan post-test, rata-rata nilai peserta meningkat dari 60,6 menjadi 89,2, atau terjadi peningkatan sebesar 47,2%. Peningkatan terbesar terjadi pada aspek kreativitas dan inovasi (55,2%) serta keterampilan teknis (53,3%). Hasil ini sejalan dengan temuan penelitian terdahulu yang menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan berbasis praktik langsung mampu meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogik dan kreativitas guru. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap kualitas pembelajaran, khususnya dalam menjadikan proses belajar lebih kontekstual, interaktif, dan berorientasi pada lingkungan. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga menumbuhkan kesadaran ekologis guru untuk memanfaatkan sumber daya alam sekitar sebagai bagian dari upaya pelestarian lingkungan.Kata kunci: pelatihan guru, alat peraga sederhana, pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan

Abstract

Pembelajaran IPAS pada jenjang sekolah dasar menuntut penyediaan pengalaman belajar yang konkret dan kontekstual, termasuk melalui integrasi budaya lokal sebagai sumber belajar. Namun, sekolah mitra belum memiliki media visual yang memadai untuk memfasilitasi pemahaman siswa terhadap budaya Sulawesi Selatan. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan mengembangkan dan menerapkan Media Papan Kebudayaan sebagai media visual pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan literasi budaya siswa kelas IV. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan implementatif berbasis experiential learning dengan desain pre–post evaluation, melibatkan 28 siswa, guru kelas, mahasiswa pendamping, dan dosen pembimbing. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi menggunakan instrumen observasi, LKPD, tes lisan, dan skala sikap. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang jelas pada kemampuan mengenali unsur budaya, memahami makna budaya, serta partisipasi dan apresiasi siswa terhadap budaya lokal. Guru dan siswa memberikan respons positif karena media membuat pembelajaran lebih menarik, konkret, dan mudah dipahami. Secara keseluruhan, media papan kebudayaan terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi budaya siswa dan dapat diadaptasi sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran berbasis kearifan lokal. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa penguatan konteks budaya dalam IPAS mampu memperkaya pengalaman belajar sekaligus mendukung pelestarian budaya daerah.
