Abstract

Measles is an infectious disease, infecting many children and becomes a major cause of child mortality in Indonesia. This disease is highly contagious, transmitted by viruses through droplets. Undeveloped immunity and low immunization coverage make it potentially epidemic. According to the 2016 Health Profile of Magetan Regency, measles cases were ranked first. Indonesia is committed to achieve the elimination of measles in 2020, with strategies such as the Measles Rubella vaccine campaign for children between 9 months-15 years. The research purpose was to analyze the factor of measles after the 2017 measles rubella vaccine campaign in Magetan Regency. This research used retrospective case control research design, the case sample was all the measles patients after the MR vaccine campaign until July 2018, as many as 16. The control sample was a part of the Magetan Regency population who did not suffer measles, as many as 64, determined with a ratio of 1:4. The research variables were immunization status, gender, exclusive breastfeeding, patient contact history, and knowledge of measles. The results showed that there is an effect of immunization status on the incidence of measles. The probability of someone who was not immunized is 81% for measles infection compared to those who are immunized. There is no influence of gender, exclusive breastfeeding, patient contact history, and knowledge of measles on the incidence of measles. Conclusion: immunization factor is the dominant factor that influence the incidence of measles. Suggestion: to reduce morbidity and mortality rates due to measles, Health Center (Puskesmas) is expected to increase the coverage of measles immunization, supported by highest quality of vaccine and techniques. Abstract

Afterpains can be more painful after childbirth, and one option for relieving them is endorphin massage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of endorphin massage in reducing the duration and intensity of afterpains. This experimental study, with a pretest and posttest design with a control group, involved 30 mothers with afterpains, divided into a treatment group and a control group, each with 15 participants. The intervention given to the treatment group was endorphin massage. In both groups, the duration and intensity of afterpains were measured through observation. A comparative analysis of the results was performed using a t-test. The analysis showed a p-value of 0.001 for the comparison of changes in pain duration between the two groups, thus interpreting that endorphin massage was more effective in reducing pain duration than the control group. Meanwhile, a p-value of 0.183 was obtained for the comparison of changes in pain intensity between the two groups, thus interpreting that endorphin massage was equally effective in reducing pain duration compared to the control group. Furthermore, it was concluded that endorphin massage is an effective method for reducing pain duration and reducing afterpains intensity. Keywords: afterpains; endorphin massage; pain duration; pain intensityABSTRAK Afterpains akan lebih terasa sakit setelah melahirkan, dan salah satu pilihan untuk meredakannya adalah dengan endorphine massage. Abstract

ABSTRACT The Community Engagement activity, conducted from May to August 2024, aimed to empower various stakeholders, such as early childhood integrated health service cadres, prospective brides and grooms, pregnant women, and mothers of young children, in their endeavors to monitor early stunting effectively. It addressed the pressing issue of stunting prevalence in Ngiliran Village, which had reached an alarming 18.6%, surpassing the national target set for 2024, which is 14%. Partners, including integrated health service cadres, prospective brides and grooms, pregnant women, and mothers, faced challenges like limited knowledge in measuring children's nutritional status, inconsistent monitoring, and inadequate stunting prevention education. To address these issues, the activity utilized the Electronic Child Card (KARANEL) smartphone application. KARANEL accurately measured children's height and weight, stored data electronically, presented nutritional status visually, and offered guidance. It empowered partners to identify, prevent, and manage stunting effectively. The results demonstrated that KARANEL enhanced the knowledge, skills, and motivation of integrated health service cadres and partners. Conclusion: the smartphone-based KARANEL application proved highly beneficial for early stunting monitoring in Ngiliran Village, providing a practical solution to combat stunting

Abstract

Background: Back massage acupressure is a natural complementary technique that minimizes side effects and can be administered to teenage girls experiencing dysmenorrhea. This technique was performed during the menstrual cycle, specifically from the 1st to the 3rd day, administered once a day for approximately 30 minutes. The novelty of the study lies in the complementary combination of a back massage and acupressure to reduce menstrual pain. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of back massage acupressure in reducing the intensity of pain and the duration of dysmenorrhea. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design was conducted on 60 teenage girls in the Magetan district. Systematic random sampling was used to select 30 respondents for both the intervention and control groups. Data were obtained from observations and interviews with respondents regarding the intensity of pain and duration of dysmenorrhea. Results: Back mass acupressure effectively reduces the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain from the 1st to 3rd day (p-value= 0.000) and shortens the duration of dysmenorrhea (p-value <0.05), thereby improving adolescent reproductive health. Conclusions: Back massage acupressure is a simple, cost-effective, and minimally invasive solution for managing dysmenorrhea. This innovative technique has been proven highly effective in reducing both the intensity of pain and the duration of dysmenorrhea. It is recommended for use among teenage girls to promote better reproductive health.
