Abstract

This research examines nomenclature disputes in Islamic Philosophy of Education using historical, anagogical and philosophical approaches. The research question posed is how the disputes over terms such as 'tarbiyah', 'ta'lim' and 'ta'dib' reflect different views within the Islamic educational tradition and what the philosophical and spiritual implications are. The aim of this study is to provide a deeper understanding of the evolution and meaning of these terms and their contribution to the discourse of Islamic education. The method used is an in-depth literature analysis with a qualitative approach, combining a historical study to trace the development of the terms, an anagogical analysis to unearth their spiritual meaning, and a philosophical approach to explore their conceptual implications. The results show that the nomenclature disputes not only reflect intellectual diversity in Islam but also highlight the need for a more holistic and multidimensional approach in understanding Islamic education. This research contributes to the development of a more inclusive Islamic education discourse that is relevant to the contemporary context.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming diverse fields, including the interpretation of Islamic religious texts. This study examines the influence of AI, particularly in the context of Nusantara Islamic traditions, and evaluates its ethical and theological implications. The research addres­ses the growing need to understand how AI intersects with traditional Islamic scholarship in Southeast Asia, emphasizing Indonesia as a case study. Using a qualitative literature review method, the study analyzes peer-reviewed articles, books, and reports from the last ten years that focus on AI applications in interpreting Islamic religious texts. Key fin­dings reveal that AI significantly enhances accessibility and efficiency in interpreting religious texts by offering tools for translation, pattern recog­nition, and thematic analysis. However, AI faces notable limitations, including contextual inaccuracies and an inability to grasp the nuanced meanings of religious doctrines deeply rooted in cultural and historical traditions. The ethical and theological concerns identified include ques­tions of interpretative authority, the risk of textual distortion, and the moral responsibilities of AI developers. The research highlights the need for collaborative frameworks between technologists and religious scholars to ensure ethically sound and theologically informed AI applications. It contributes to the literature by focusing on Nusantara Islamic texts and proposing actionable guidelines for integrating AI in religious studies responsibly. This study provides a foundation for further interdisciplinary research to balance technological innovation with the preservation of Islamic interpretive traditions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran pendidikan Islam dalam membangun keseimbangan emosional dan spiritual pada Generasi Z yang menghadapi tantangan perubahan sosial yang pesat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka dengan analisis isi, yang menggabungkan literatur terkait pendidikan Islam kontemporer, psikologi perkembangan, dan isu-isu unik Generasi Z. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pendidikan Islam yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai Islami dengan metode pembelajaran modern dapat secara efektif meningkatkan kecerdasan emosional, pertumbuhan spiritual, dan daya lenting generasi muda. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa pendidikan Islam, jika diterapkan dengan inovasi pedagogis yang relevan, dapat memenuhi kebutuhan emosional dan spiritual Generasi Z untuk mendukung mereka menghadapi kompleksitas kehidupan modern.

Abstract

This research examines the perceptions and attitudes of urban Muslim youth in Indonesia towards modernity and globalization. Urban Muslim youth navigate the challenges and opportunities of a globalized world while striving to maintain their religious and cultural identities. This study aims to explore the factors influencing their perceptions, including religiosity, family dynamics, education, economic conditions, and technological advancements. Through a comprehensive literature review, this research highlights how these factors interplay to shape the worldview and behaviors of young Muslims in urban settings. The findings reveal that while some urban Muslim youth embrace modernity and globalization, seeing them as opportunities for technological advancement and improved quality of life, others perceive them as threats to their traditional values and religious identity. The study underscores the importance of understanding these perceptions to address the social and religious development of urban Muslim communities. By providing insights into the attitudes of urban Muslim youth, this research contributes to the broader discourse on religious and cultural identities amidst the forces of modernity and globalization.

Abstract

The problem of rapid urbanization has led to environmental degradation in big cities, such as air pollution, reduction of green spaces, and poor waste management. This research aims to examine the role of Islamic perspective in urban environmental conservation. Through the concepts of khalifah (leadership), mizan (balance), and amana (trust), Islamic teachings provide a relevant ethical framework for protecting the environment. This research method is a literature review by analyzing primary sources such as the Qur'an, hadith, and secondary literature related to Islamic ecology and urban environmental challenges. The results show that Islamic teachings offer practical guidance in human interaction with nature. The concept of khalifah places humans as guardians of the earth with the responsibility to preserve the environment. Mizan emphasizes the importance of maintaining the balance of nature, avoiding overexploitation, and ensuring the sustainability of the ecosystem. Meanwhile, amana underlines the moral obligation to manage natural resources responsibly. This research reveals that with the integration of Islamic values, Muslim communities can be more actively involved in urban ecological preservation. The impact of this research is to increase the awareness and participation of Muslim communities in environmental conservation efforts, while enriching the global discourse on sustainability through a holistic approach. In conclusion, Islamic teachings can be a strong foundation in designing more sustainable urban policies, by encouraging a balance between urban development and environmental conservation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran teori tes klasik (CTT) dan teori respons butir (IRT) dalam evaluasi butir soal di pendidikan dasar. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka dengan pendekatan kualitatif, yang mencakup perbandingan karakteristik analisis butir soal antara kedua teori ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa IRT memiliki keunggulan dalam menganalisis kemampuan individual siswa dengan lebih akurat, seperti melalui daya pembeda dan tingkat kesulitan butir soal. Sementara itu, CTT lebih mudah diterapkan namun terbatas pada skor total dan kurang mampu memberikan analisis mendalam tentang karakteristik butir soal. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan IRT dalam pendidikan dasar dapat meningkatkan akurasi penilaian dan mendukung pembelajaran yang dipersonalisasi.

Abstract

This research explores Asma Barlas perspective on gender justice in Islam, particularly in the context of Qur’anic interpretation. Barlas, through her work “Believing Women in Islam: Unreading Patriarchal Interpretations of the Qur’an,” offers a critical hermeneutic approach to traditional interpretations that tend to be patriarchal. A descriptive-analytical qualitative approach was used to analyze Barlas works and compare them with other interpretations. Data were collected through literature review and document analysis. Thematic analysis identifies and understands the main themes in Barlas interpretations, including the principles of gender justice she proposes. The results show that Barlas rejects the patriarchal view often found in traditional commentaries and asserts that the Qur’an, when read with a just and non-patriarchal approach, supports gender equality. The research also discusses the fundamental differences between Barlas' interpretation and traditional exegesis, as well as the potential impact of her thinking on the contemporary Islamic feminist movement. Challenges and criticisms of Barlas approach are analyzed to provide a balanced view of the strengths and limitations of her methodology. This research highlights the importance of an inclusive hermeneutic approach in Qur’anic exegesis and offers a new perspective for developing a more just understanding of gender in Islam.
