Abstract

This research explores the implementation of servant leadership values in developing student character in the Islamic boarding school environment. Islamic boarding schools as Islamic educational institutions have a strategic role in shaping students' character through formal and non-formal learning which is influenced by the leadership style of Islamic boarding school caregivers. This research used a qualitative approach with participatory observation methods and in-depth interviews. The research informants were Islamic boarding school leaders, caregivers, and students at the Darul Ihsan Islamic boarding school in Samarinda. The research results show that servant leadership values, such as empathy, commitment to student development, and example, are applied consistently by Islamic boarding school leaders in developing students' character. These values are transformed through daily interactions, spiritual formation, and religious-based self-development programs.Implementing servant leadership in Islamic boarding schools is not only influences students' moral and spiritual improvement but also increases their sense of social responsibility and discipline. This research concludes that servant leadership plays an important role in the character formation of students in Islamic boarding schools, and recommends this approach as an effective strategy for character education in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the perceptions of teachers and students towards library services at school. The method was descriptive qualitative, with data collection through in-depth interviews and observation. The research subjects comprised 3 teachers and 2 students at 004 Elementary School of  Samarinda Ulu. This study used triangulation to analyze the data studied. The results showed that teachers view library services as an important resource for learning. They appreciate the availability of books and adequate facilities. Still, they would like improvements in the availability of the latest book services and the internet network, thus the students could get information easily in learning. On the other hand, students show enthusiasm for the library but complain about the lack of variety of reading topics and room for reading. Based on this information, the recommendation for library services is to improve library management to support the learning process and literacy and develop programs for improving student attractiveness. Thus, library services can be optimized.

Abstract

Effectiveness of leadership creates a conducive work environment and increases teachers' motivation and performance. The research used in this study is a qualitative description approach. The data was collected by interview, observation, and documentation methods. The subjects of this research were principals and teachers at SD Negeri 011 Samarinda Seberang. The results showed that principals who apply the principles of participative, democratic and transformational can have a positive influence on teacher performance, providing space for teachers to make decisions and increasing a sense of responsibility. In addition, principals who apply effective leadership principles, as well as transparent communication between principals and teachers and create a positive work climate will make teachers feel supported and valued. Structured training and professional development also have a significant effect on improving teacher competence and productivity. These results showed an improvement in teachers’ performance as well as an improvement in quality education in SD Negeri 011 Samarinda Seberang.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of leadership in implementing the three main aspects of 1-minute management, namely praise, reprimand and apology at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darussalam. In educational leadership, madrasa heads play a strategic role in motivating and developing teaching and educational staff performance. This research used a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study approach and data collection through an online questionnaire distributed to 15 respondents consisting of teachers and madrasa staff. Data analysis was carried out using theme analysis techniques to identify patterns of behavior and responses to the three aspects of leadership. The results showed that the praise by madrasah heads significantly increased teacher motivation and self-confidence, while reprimands given constructively helped improve performance. In addition, a leader's attitude of apologizing when they make a mistake creates a more inclusive work environment and increases subordinates' trust in leadership. These findings indicate that leadership that integrates praise, reprimand, and apology can build positive relationships and improve performance in the educational environment.

Abstract

Situational leadership is a flexible leadership style, where the leader can adjust his leadership approach based on existing conditions and situations. In the madrasah context, integration includes the synergy between management, teaching staff, curriculum, and student development to create a conducive and effective educational environment. The research method used qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation and document analysis. The research results showed that the headmaster of MTs Al Mujahidin 2 Samarinda adopted various leadership styles, such as directing and training employees, participation and authority, based on needs and madrasah development level. Thus, the educational goals are achieved effectively, improving coordination between teaching staff, and synergy in implementing academic programs. The results confirmed that situational leadership has a significant role in supporting integration at MTs Al Mujahidin 2 Samarinda, which impacts the learning quality and madrasah management.

Abstract

Strategic management is needed when facing changes in educational policies and the demands of technological developments. Therefore, schools carry out planning, implementation, mobilization and supervision processes, as well as factors that support the success of strategic change management in schools. A qualitative descriptive approach was used with a case study approach, with data collection techniques through interviews, observations and documents. The research results show that SMP Negeri 39 Samarinda has carried out a planning strategy based on SWOT analysis to identify needs for change, such as implementing the Independent Curriculum, increasing teacher competency, and developing technological infrastructure. The changes were implemented in stages, starting with socialization and teacher training, followed by the application of project-based learning and hybrid learning methods. However, the change process faces challenges such as teacher resistance, limited technological facilities, and budget constraints. However, the success of change management is supported by the principal’s strong leadership, active participation of the school committee and parents, and regular monitoring and evaluation. This research concludes that the changes in management strategy at SMP Negeri 39 Samarinda are quite effective, requiring continuous adjustments and improvements. The school is expected to continue to adapt and innovate to improve the quality of education and face future challenges optimally.

Abstract

This research was carried out to uncover and understand the role of self-leadership in the team-building process at UPTD Tahura Bukit Soeharto using a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects and main data sources focused on the head of UPTD Tahura Bukit Soeharto and the forestry police team. Various techniques applied to collect data were interviews, observations, and documentation.The result showed that in the context of self-leadership and team-building efforts at UPTD Tahura Bukit Soeharto, the head of UPTD applied five sources of strength namely personal strength, knowledge, relationships, influence and resources. This shows that leadership strength does not depend on the position or title, but rather on how a leader utilizes the various strengths to inspire, motivate, and build a solid team.Furthermore, when facing various challenges faced by the team, the head of UPTD Tahura Bukit Soeharto acts as a leader who provides emotional support to his members and encourages flexibility, which contributes to increasing the team's resilience. This results in team members feeling more secure and supported, so they can deal with difficult situations and find innovative solutions. With this support, a strong bond is created between team members, which is important for maintaining enthusiasm and motivation in achieving common goals.

Abstract

This article examines the correlation between knowledge, science, and religion within the context of public service at the East Kalimantan Regional House of Representatives (DPRD). The integration of these three elements is essential since public service must not only be efficient and rational, as emphasized by scientific principles, but also grounded in moral and religious ethics. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review and policy document analysis of DPRD East Kalimantan. The findings indicate that knowledge and science strengthen the rationality of public policies, while religion provides the moral and ethical foundation for public accountability. The correlation among the three creates a holistic governance model that promotes professionalism and integrity. In conclusion, the harmony of knowledge, science, and religion forms the basis for improving public service quality rooted in intellectual and spiritual values within DPRD East Kalimantan.

Abstract

Strategi Bauran Pemasaran Marketing Mix Di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Ma’arif NU 003 Samarinda ialah melalui strategi bauran pemasaran marketing mix yaitu 7P (product, price, place, promotion, people, process, physical avidence). Maka dari pada itu, Product (produk) berupa program- program yang ditawarkan yaitu diantaranya pramuka, kelas akselerasi (unggulan) tahfidz al- qur’an, dan pencak silat pagar nusa (NU). Price (harga) yang ditentukan oleh madrasah dan seluruh stakeholder masih bisa dikatakan tidak terlalu mahal dan masih bisa dijangkau oleh kalangan masyarakat, maka dari itu para orang tua murid harus bersedia membayar nominal sesuai dengan ketentuan yang telah ditetapkan. Place (tempat) lokasi madrasah itu sendiri berada dikawasan yang cukup ramai dan padat penduduk. Promotion (promosi) dilakukan dengan 2 media baik secara langsung (melalui informasi mulut ke mulut) atau secara tidak langsung yaitu melalui platform sosial media facebook, instargam dan channel youtube. People (orang/ SDM) madrasah memiliki kualifikasi sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas dan sesuai dengan bidang keilmuan masing-masing. Process (proses) madrasah telah memperoleh akreditasi A dan telah memenuhi Standar Nasional Pendidikan, dan banyak meraih berbagai prestasi dibidang akademik dan non-akademik. Physical Avidence (bukti fisik) yang mencakup seluruh alat bantu untuk menunjang proses terlaksananya pendidikan, dengan adanya gedung pembelajaran serta segala fasilitas yang telah tersedia.
