Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women is a significant public health issue, especially in rural areas like Mondokan, Tuban Regency, where access to quality healthcare and nutrition may be limited. This community service program aimed to improve hemoglobin levels in anemic pregnant women through the combination of iron tablets (Fe) and Ambon bananas, a locally available food rich in iron, potassium, and vitamin C. The program involved socialization, nutritional education, and the regular provision of iron supplements and Ambon bananas to pregnant women in the third trimester. Hemoglobin levels were measured before and after the intervention to assess the impact. Results showed a significant increase in hemoglobin levels, with 80% of participants showing improvements, averaging an increase of 1.5 g/dL. In addition, knowledge of anemia and nutrition improved markedly among participants, and the community’s engagement was high, with over 85% of women attending group support sessions. The use of Ambon bananas also contributed to local economic development, as it promoted the use of locally sourced agricultural products. This program demonstrates the potential for combining local resources and nutritional interventions to address anemia, with positive health outcomes for both pregnant women and the broader community. The findings suggest that this approach can be replicated in other regions facing similar challenges.

Abstract

Anemia is one of the most common nutritional problems throughout the world, not only in developing countries but also in other developed countries. Anemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or hemoglobin is below normal limits if the hemoglobin level is <14 g/dL in men and <12g/dL in women. To provide additional iron (Fe) to adolescents, it is hoped that by making cookies substituting chicken liver flour and green bean flour (Vigna Radiata L.) it can be used as an alternative snack for adolescents. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of substitution of chicken liver flour and green bean flour (Vigna Radiata L.) on iron (Fe) levels and acceptability test on cookies. This research used True Experimental with Completely Randomized Design (CRD), 4 treatment levels and 6 times replication. The treatment applied was the ratio of wheat flour: chicken liver flour: mung bean flour at each P0 (100:0:0), P1 (45:25:30), P2 (30:40:30), P3 (25:30:45). The results of the study showed that there was an effect on increased iron (Fe) levels, with the highest iron (Fe) levels in the P3 treatment. There was a significant effect on color, taste, aroma and texture (Kruskall-Wallis (p<0.005). The best effect was on cookies treated with P1. The conclusion of this study was that cookies substituted for chicken liver flour and mung bean flour have an influence on iron (Fe) levels, and organoleptic quality.

Abstract

In coastal areas, a less diverse diet is one of the main causes of anemia in pregnant women. This study aims to analyze the correlation between marine resource consumption patterns and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in coastal areas of Indonesia in the period January 2025, focusing on food intake. This study uses a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study is pregnant women living in coastal areas, totaling 369 pregnant women; the sampling technique used in this study is Simple Random Sampling, totaling 189 respondents. Data collection was conducted using a Food Frequency Questionnaire, which was employed to identify the types and frequency of marine resource consumption over the past month, while the three-day 24-hour dietary recall was used to estimate daily nutrient intake, including iron and other relevant micronutrients. Anemia status was assessed by measuring hemoglobin levels through the Cyanmethemoglobin method. In data analysis, the Spearman test will be used to identify the relationship between marine resource consumption patterns and the incidence of anemia. Based on the results of the Spearman test on pregnant women, the value of Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.033 was obtained, which showed that there was a significant relationship between seafood consumption patterns and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in coastal areas. study found a significant relationship between seafood consumption patterns and anemia in pregnant women in coastal areas. The presence of non-heme iron and inhibitory compounds in seafood, along with low intake of red meat and liver, increases the risk of anemia.

Abstract

Malnutrition was a medical condition caused by unbalanced nutritional intake in the form of macronutrients and micronutrients. Malnutrition was at risk for abortion. The high number of malnutrition accompanied by abortion, so this study aims to determine whether there is a correlation study of malnutrition in pregnant women with the incidence of abortion at the Tambakboyo Health Center, Tambakboyo District, Tuban Regency. The research design was correlational analytic with the population of all pregnant women who were examined (216) by collecting data through medical records. The sampling technique is simple random sampling (140). The independent variable is malnutrition of pregnant women, the dependent variable is the incidence of abortion. Analysis with contingency coefficient test with️ = 0.05. The results were obtained from data on 140 pregnant women, for malnutrition who experienced abortions based on BMI almost half (46%), based on Chronic energy deficiency almost half (29%) and based on anemia almost half (30%). From the data analysis, the results were obtained in the form of abnormal BMI sig 0.000, in the form of chronic energy deficiency sig 0.004, in the form of anemia sig 0.000. Because sig < 0.05, Hi is accepted, which means that there is a significant relationship between malnutrition in pregnant women and the incidence of abortion in the form of BMI, CED and anemia. The conclusion of this study is that there is a correlation between malnutrition in pregnant women and the incidence of abortion in the Tambakboyo Community Health Center, Tambakboyo District, Tuban Regency. Thus, it is hoped that health workers will provide IEC on balanced nutrition to prospective mothers before preparing for pregnancy, both through formal and informal channels.
