Abstract

The availability of a practicum guide is essential in fostering students' teamwork skills. Based on media needs analysis, it was concluded that the development of a practicum guide based on modified free inquiry is aimed at fostering students' teamwork skills. The objective of this research is to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the biology practicum guide based on modified free inquiry to enhance students' teamwork skills. This research is categorized as research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE development design (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The research population consists of biology education students at the State Islamic University of Raden Fatah Palembang. The sampling technique used in this study is purposive sampling. Data analysis for validity and practicality was conducted using Likert scale questionnaires, and effectiveness was measured based on observer questionnaires regarding students' teamwork skills. The validation results showed a media expert percentage of 88.1% with the criterion of very valid, a material expert percentage of 91% with the criterion of very valid, and a language expert percentage of 88.3% with the criterion of very valid. The field practitioners' assessment yielded an average response of 100% in all aspects, categorized as positive, leading to the conclusion that the guide is practical. The effectiveness of the practicum guide was derived from observer assessments, with a result of 83.3%, indicating a very frequent occurrence in fostering students' teamwork skills.

Abstract

This research to produce a valid and practical e-book teaching content product. The method used in this study is Research and Development (RnD) with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The data in this study were obtained through expert validation questionnaires (content experts, media experts, and language experts) and student response questionnaires on blended learning-based biochemistry e-book products using the developed sigil application. Data analysis techniques were carried out by referring to the standard criteria for validity and practicality of e-books. The results of the study were obtained based on the results of the media expert validity questionnaire (98%), content experts (98%), language experts (91%) with a very valid category, and field practitioners consisting of questionnaires filled out by lecturers who teach biochemistry courses (91.66%) and students as a form of readability from e-book users (97.86%). Therefore, it can be concluded that blended learning-based e-books using the sigil application in biochemistry courses are valid and practical for use in learning activities. Abstract

The phenomenon of street children in big cities, including Palembang City, is a complex social problem that requires special attention. These children generally come from poor or unstable families and are forced to work on the streets to survive or avoid dysfunctional home conditions. This study aims to analyze the social life system of street children through the perspective of Talcott Parsons' organic system and the perspective of utilitarianism. The method used is qualitative analysis based on interviews, street children's questionnaires, and Palembang City community questionnaires. Based on the organic system theory, street children are the result of family failure in providing social support and stability, thus encouraging children to meet their needs independently. Meanwhile, from the perspective of utilitarianism, although living on the streets is full of risks, these children can still feel happiness through freedom, autonomy, and the opportunity to earn their living. Thus, street children's existence is influenced by family failure and rational decisions that give them a sense of comfort and freedom outside the home, and economic factors strongly influence both.
