Abstract

Breast cancer, a heterogeneous disease, often metastasises, impacting prognosis. In Indonesia, adjuvant hormonal therapy (AHT) is the standard for hormone receptor-positive cancer, reducing recurrence and mortality. However, patients often face anxiety and depression during treatment. Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) are known to alleviate psychological stress. This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Adjuvant Hormonal Therapy with Emotional Freedom Technique (AH-EFT) module for breast cancer patients. A quantitative survey with a descriptive design assessed the content validity and reliability of the AH-EFT module. Six breast cancer care experts reviewed the module using a validity questionnaire and qualitative feedback. The result found that the content validity percentage reached 97%, with session suitability at 95%. The module’s reliability value was 0.934, indicating excellent consistency. The AH-EFT module is highly valid and reliable, making it suitable for guiding counselling and treatment for breast cancer patients in Indonesia and beyond.

Abstract

Nursing handover is a critical component in health services that requires accurate and appropriate communication to ensure patient safety. This study aims to analyze the effect of ISBAR3 (Identity, Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation, and Readback) training on improving the communication of the nursing team in the inpatient unit of Pariaman Hospital. Using quantitative methods with pre-test and post-test designs, the study involved 30 nurses as respondents. Data were collected through structured questionnaires, observations, and in-depth interviews. The results showed a significant increase in communication scores from 65% to 85% post-training. Statistical analysis confirmed the effectiveness of the intervention with a p < value of 0.05. The implementation of ISBAR3 contributed to a reduction in miscommunication incidents from 3.5 to 0.8 events per week and a 35% reduction in emergency response time. The increase in staff confidence in clinical communication was reflected in the rise in the score from 65.3 to 87.8. Despite the challenges of implementation, the development of a comprehensive mitigation strategy facilitates the continued adoption of the ISBAR3 method. The study concluded that ISBAR3 training was effective in improving the quality of communication of the nursing team with positive implications for patient safety and service efficiency.

Abstract

Background: The Kidney Disease and Quality of Life Short Form (KDQOL-SF™ v1.3) was specifically developed to assess quality of life in individuals with kidney disease, including those not yet requiring dialysis. With the increasing burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in Indonesia, there is a need for culturally adapted and psychometrically sound instruments. Objective: This study aimed to adapt, validate, and evaluate the reliability of the Indonesian version of the KDQOL-SF™ v1.3 among hemodialysis patients. Methods: The KDQOL-SF™ v1.3 was adapted for cultural use by following international guidelines, including forward and backward translation, expert review, and interviews with patients. A total of 190 hemodialysis patients took part in the study. Construct validity was tested using factor analysis, and convergent validity was checked by comparing it with the EQ-5D-5L quality of life scale. Differences in scores between early-stage CKD patients and those on hemodialysis were used to test known-groups validity. Reliability was measured through internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha) and a two-week test–retest method. Results: Of the 225 patients invited, 190 (84.4%) completed the survey. The content validity index (CVI) ranged from 0.73 to 1.00 across items. Exploratory factor analysis revealed factor loadings between 0.501 and 0.872, supporting construct validity. Significant correlations between the KDQOL-SF™ v1.3 domain scores and EQ-5D-5L measures confirmed convergent validity. Known-groups validity was demonstrated by significantly lower scores in physical function, role-physical, mental health, general health, pain, and fatigue domains among hemodialysis patients compared to those with earlier-stage CKD (p < 0.05). Cronbach’s alpha values ranged from 0.710 to 0.883 across domains, indicating good internal consistency, while test-retest reliability coefficients ranged from 0.702 to 0.852. Conclusion: The Indonesian version of the KDQOL-SF™ v1.3 is a valid and reliable tool to measure quality of life in hemodialysis patients. It can be used in both clinical practice and research to support patient-centered care and track outcomes. Future research should look at how well the tool detects changes in health and whether it works for patients with other stages of CKD

Abstract

Effective clinical communication is a fundamental element in ensuring patient safety. ISBAR3 (Identification, Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation, Read-back, Risk) as a structured communication method has the potential to transform the culture of patient safety in nursing practice. This study critically analyzes the implementation of ISBAR3 in the Indonesian nursing literature for the 2018-2023 period through a qualitative methodology based on a literature study. The results of the analysis revealed the multidimensional impact of ISBAR3 on improving the quality of nursing handover, patient satisfaction, and reducing safety incidents. Factors supporting and inhibiting implementation include teamwork, organizational learning, workload, and management support. Implementation optimization requires a comprehensive approach including contextual adaptation, capacity building, system integration, policy support, and continuous evaluation. The transformation of patient safety culture through ISBAR3 represents a fundamental shift from a reactive to a proactive paradigm in Indonesian healthcare.

Abstract

The study carried out a bibliometric analysis of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to know the effectiveness of the therapy. This bibliometric research focuses on looking at research activities around the world using publication data from the Scopus database. Bibliometric analysis uses a quantitative approach to analyze results and provide a representative picture. This research is recognized as a practical approach to assessing the output of publications, organization, writing, and characteristics of research topics between 2005 until 2023. There are Attempts to use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to reduce trauma but the amount of effort did not increase significantly. Instead, the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy research is growing.

Abstract

The disease that causes the number 1 death in the world is cardiovascular disease. Self-care involves maintaining possibilities by engaging in practices that enhance health. Monitoring symptoms and managing symptoms when they arise in patients with chronic diseases, including heart failure. This study aimed to explore knowledge and innovations that can be applied to Self-care with heart failure. The research method uses a systematic literature review. Research articles were obtained from three databases, namely Proquest, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Literature searches using keywords (in English), namely knowledge and practice, self-care, and heart failure, with Primary articles. The inclusion criteria used are articles from 2019-2023 in English. Primary articles, full text, and research subjects of patients with heart failure were reviewed from 1390 articles in eleven that met all criteria. Then, it was analyzed using simplified thematic analysis. The results show the themes that emerged from this literature review were the critical domain of self-care, the excellent impact of compliance, and monitoring innovations needed to reduce complications. Apart from that, telemonitoring is an outstanding innovation. The conclusion is that self-care for heart failure patients improves their quality of life and reduces complications. Adherence is critical, and innovations like telemonitoring applications enhance monitoring, proving effective in boosting patient welfare. This research contributes to providing readers with information about self-care strategies for heart failure patients to improve patient well-being.
