Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the problem-based learning (PBL) model in enhancing learning outcomes for 10th-grade students in Economics. This research utilized a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design involving two groups: an experimental class employing PBL and a control class applying conventional learning methods. The research instruments included pre-tests, post-tests, observation sheets, and questionnaires to measure students' responses toward PBL. Findings indicated that the post-test average in the experimental class showed a significantly higher improvement than the control class. The N-Gain value for the experimental class was classified as high, indicating a positive impact of PBL on students' understanding. Furthermore, the observation sheets and questionnaires revealed that students were more actively engaged, felt motivated, and demonstrated better collaborative and critical thinking skills. Overall, the PBL model proved effective in enhancing students' learning outcomes

Abstract

The quality of local government financial reports is often suboptimal due to weak internal oversight by inspectorates. This study aims to analyze the effect of the internal audit function on the quality of financial reports at the Inspectorate of Ambon City and Maluku Province. The research employed a quantitative approach using questionnaires and simple linear regression analysis. The population consisted of 60 internal auditors, who also served as the sample through the census method. The results revealed that internal audit roles have a positive and significant effect on financial reporting quality, as evidenced by the t-value exceeding the critical threshold. These findings suggest that strengthening the internal audit function enhances the reliability, relevance, and comparability of financial reports. There is a need to build professional auditor capacity and enforce oversight standards based on regulations. It is recommended that local governments reassess internal audit strategies and provide competency-based technical training for supervisory personnel

Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ perceptions of the teaching and learning process conducted by economics teachers using the 2013 Curriculum at YPKPM Christian Senior High School Ambon, specifically among Grade X IIS students. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, using a closed-ended questionnaire distributed to 20 respondents. The instrument was developed based on indicators covering lesson planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results show that students’ perceptions are generally positive. Teachers are considered capable of designing lessons aligned with core competencies, applying various methods, and delivering material clearly and systematically. During implementation, teachers foster a conducive learning environment and encourage active student participation. However, some students noted that the evaluation methods did not fully reflect individual abilities due to the dominance of multiple-choice questions. The study recommends improving evaluation methods, incorporating more interactive digital media, and enhancing teacher training to optimize the 2013 Curriculum implementation. These findings are expected to serve as input for educators and policymakers in improving the quality of economics education

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the teaching strategies employed by lecturers in the Introduction to Accounting I course, particularly on the topic of the Accounting Cycle, within the Economics Education Study Program at FKIP Pattimura University. The course is complex and requires students to systematically understand the stages of the accounting process. A qualitative descriptive method was used, involving observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the teaching strategies include interactive lectures, group discussions, problem-solving exercises, and the use of visual media such as slides and videos. These strategies are considered effective in helping students grasp basic accounting concepts and map out the accounting cycle from transaction recording to financial statement preparation. Active student participation in discussions and hands-on practice plays a crucial role in improving learning outcomes. However, challenges remain in diversifying instructional approaches and integrating educational technology. The study recommends enhancing lecturers' pedagogical competencies and developing digital-based teaching methods to improve the quality of accounting education in higher education institutions.

Abstract

Affective assessment plays a vital role in shaping student attitudes but is often neglected in practice because teachers predominantly focus on cognitive aspects. This study aims to describe the implementation of affective assessment in social studies learning at SMP Negeri 6 Ambon. A qualitative approach with descriptive methods was employed, utilizing observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis of lesson plans and assessment instruments. The main findings indicate that affective assessment planning exists in lesson plans but is limited to observational sheets used by teachers. Students' spiritual and social attitudes were generally good, evident through prayer, greetings, cooperation, discipline, responsibility, and communication skills during group discussions. This research provides an in-depth description of the relationship between affective assessment planning and its actual implementation. The implications suggest a need for teacher training in developing comprehensive affective assessment instruments, and it is recommended that schools facilitate improving teachers' competencies to implement affective assessments consistently and comprehensively
