Abstract

Islamic boarding schools in East Java are generally crowded, with students living in one dormitory with limited facilities. Growth and development health issues in pesantren students are also an important concern, given the living conditions in pesantren that can affect the physical and mental development of santri. One problem that often occurs is stunting or stunted growth due to lack of adequate nutritional intake during childhood and adolescence. The methods used in this community service activity are lectures and physical examinations. The measuring instrument used is a multiplechoice type closedended questionnaire. Respondents were asked to fill out a questionnaire before counseling (pre-test) and after counseling (post-test). Then the data was analyzed using the average and delta calculation method with the results of the pretest average of 72.60 and postest of 87.23. In addition, the results of the health examination consisted of visus examination, height, weight, and other health examinations. In general, the results of the examination of participants showed that a small proportion experienced health problems, so it is hoped that the pesantren will further improve health services and facilities in the pesantren environment

Abstract

Leprosy is a chronic disease that rarely causes death but often causes disability. This disability leads to different opinions in the community, which disrupts the social life of leprosy sufferers and the surrounding community. In this study, the researcher wanted to examine more deeply the opinions of people with leprosy. This research design uses qualitative research that focuses on a phenomenological approach. The participants taken in this study were 11 people who had criteria where the location of the participant's house was not more than 100 meters from the leprosy patient. Participants were selected through purposive sampling and data collection techniques using in-depth interviews with the main instrument, namely the researcher himself and assisted by other instruments in the form of field notes, interview guidelines and sound recording devices. The results of this study resulted in three themes: (1) Factors that influence stigma towards leprosy patients (2) Perceptions of Leprosy Patients (3) Forms of Stigma towards Leprosy Patients. Community stigma still occurs against leprosy patients, this is due to the low level of education and knowledge of the community about leprosy, so there needs to be intervention by health workers to increase community knowledge so that the stigma felt by leprosy patients can be reduced.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a global health problem with increasing number of cases and morbidity rates. This study aims to analyze the risk factors associated with CKD in patients receiving hemodialysis therapy. The study design used a case-control study approach with 30 respondents selected purposively, consisting of 15 CKD patients as the case group and 15 hypertensive patients without CKD as controls. Inclusion criteria for the case group included patients aged 30–65 years who had been diagnosed with end-stage CKD and underwent regular hemodialysis, while the control group consisted of hypertensive patients without impaired kidney function with the same age. All respondents must be willing to participate in the study and sign an informed consent. The exclusion criteria for both groups included patients with a history of autoimmune disease, diabetes mellitus, other chronic diseases that affect kidney function, long-term use of nephrotoxic drugs, and the inability to fully participate in the research process. The research data were analyzed using the chi-square test to determine the relationship between hypertension, diet, and the risk of CKD. Statistical tests showed that a history of hypertension increased the risk of CKD with a p value of 0.003, unhealthy diet was associated with CKD with a p value of <0.05, and the relationship between hypertension and CKD risk with a ϕ value of 0.533. The results of this study indicate that hypertension and unhealthy diet play a significant role in the development of CKD, providing important guidance for health intervention programs. Hypertension and unhealthy diet are major risk factors for CKD in hemodialysis patients.
