Abstract

The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a crucial measure in protecting healthcare workers from the risk of infection exposure in the workplace. However, in Fancawati Village, Klari Sub-district, Karawang Regency, the level of PPE usage among community health volunteers (posyandu staff) remains suboptimal. This community service program aims to enhance knowledge, attitudes, and adherence to PPE usage among posyandu staff through educational activities, training, simulations, and intensive mentoring over one month. The methods used include an initial survey, socialization, training, simulations, mentoring, and evaluation. The results showed an increase in knowledge from 55% to 90%, a positive attitude shift from 50% to 80%, and improved adherence to PPE use from 60% to 85%. Additionally, the number of posyandu units providing PPE independently increased from 3 to 6. This program successfully improved the quality of services at posyandu by raising awareness and better PPE usage behaviors. The success of this program highlights the importance of a holistic approach that involves education, policy support, and adequate facility provision to improve safety standards in primary healthcare facilities

Abstract

Workplace accidents are one of the risks faced by workers in vocational education environments, including at Vocational High Schools (SMK). This program aimed to increase knowledge and awareness of occupational health and safety (OHS) among staff at SMK Sehati Karawang. The training was conducted through several stages, including awareness sessions, general OHS training, accident handling simulations, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. The results showed that the majority of participants were highly satisfied with the program, with 50% stating they were very satisfied, 30% satisfied, 15% fairly satisfied, and 5% dissatisfied. The program significantly increased awareness of the importance of using personal protective equipment (PPE) and understanding risk management in the SMK environment. According to monitoring results, the application of OHS improved significantly, particularly in the use of PPE and quick response to emergency situations. This program was supported by previous studies showing that comprehensive OHS training can reduce workplace accidents by up to 70%. With continuous support and evaluation, this program is expected to serve as a model for effective OHS implementation in other vocational schools

Abstract

Occupational health and safety (OHS) is a crucial aspect of protecting workers from the risks of accidents and work-related illnesses, especially in healthcare facilities such as community health centers (Puskesmas). This study aims to evaluate the impact of a safety training program on reducing the number of workplace accidents at Puskesmas Klari Karawang. This community service program was implemented through several stages, including problem identification, material preparation, initial outreach, training and simulations, interactive discussions, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. The results show a significant reduction in workplace accidents across all categories. Minor accidents decreased by 40%, moderate accidents by 46.7%, and severe accidents by 60%. This decrease was influenced by an increase in workers' knowledge and compliance with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the implementation of safety protocols. Furthermore, continuous monitoring and evaluation confirmed the program’s effectiveness in fostering a stronger safety culture within the workplace. This occupational safety outreach program has demonstrated positive outcomes in reducing workplace accidents and can be adapted by other healthcare facilities

Abstract

The occupational health and safety (OHS) education program for nutrition workers at RSI Kabupaten Karawang aims to enhance their understanding and skills in preventing various work-related risks they frequently encounter. Key risks, such as ergonomic issues, improper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), injuries from kitchen equipment, and exposure to hazardous chemicals, are the main focus of this program. Through an educational approach that includes awareness campaigns, practical training, and simulations, there was a significant reduction in risk levels after the program was implemented. Prior to the intervention, ergonomic risks reached 40%, improper PPE use was 30%, kitchen equipment injuries accounted for 25%, and chemical exposure was 20%. After the education program, all risk categories showed a decrease, with ergonomic risks reduced to 20%, PPE misuse to 15%, equipment injuries to 12%, and chemical exposure down to 10%. These results demonstrate that OHS education can effectively improve work safety and the well-being of nutrition workers, as well as support the creation of a safer and healthier hospital work environment. This program could serve as a model for sustainable OHS implementation in other healthcare institutions
