Abstract

Over 50,000 villages across the country have adopted Mission Antyodaya, which has had a significant positive impact on poverty reduction, improved access to key services, and promoted equitable growth. However, the effort faces a number of challenges, including a lack of adequate funding, ineffective monitoring methods, and hostility from well-established power structures. These challenges must be addressed in order for the program to be successful and to ensure that the most marginalised people in society benefit from development.

Abstract

A Hindu temple devoted to Surya, the Martand Sun Temple (also called Pandou Laidan) dates back to the eighth century. Its building was ordered by the third Karkota Dynasty emperor, Lalitaditya Muktapida. Unfortunately, Sikandar Shah Miri, the Muslim monarch, demolished it, and it is now in ruins. The temple, located in Jammu and Kashmir five miles from Anantnag, had a fusion of Chinese, Gandharan, and Gupta architectural styles. It is known as Kartanda (Sun Temple) and is a centrally protected monument. The author draws attention to the remnants of the Kashmir Valley's Martand Sun Temple.

Abstract

This research article delves into the persistent challenge of violence against women in India, examining its various forms and societal implications. It scrutinizes the ambiguity in defining such violence and the subsequent methodological challenges in research, particularly addressing the sensitive nature of the subject. The study highlights the complex interplay of factors contributing to increased reports of sexual violence against women, including patriarchy, education, and disparities in gendered power dynamics. Despite societal changes, the normalization of violence complicates the assessment of actual increases. The paper underscores the multifaceted nature of the issue, influenced by contextual factors, intermediate factors, and societal effects. The research proposes that attempts have been made to eliminate domestic violence, yet some programs demonstrate less success. The analysis emphasizes the interconnectedness of sexual harassment with broader economic, political, and cultural contexts. Despite women's increased confidence, the reluctance to report violence persists, attributed to the normalization of such incidents. The conclusion advocates for improved legislation to address the pervasive issue effectively. The research encounters challenges in defining violence and underlines the need for enhanced research efforts to better understand gender violence and design effective interventions.

Abstract

History and economics are closely related. Because a man's actions in society are closely related to economic issues, a historian of any age must have at least a basic understanding of economics. Because they can frame questions about complex economic, social, and political issues and look for patterns and outcomes of prior episodes, economic historians are frequently in a good position to reply to questions about current global economic trends and crises. The current study emphasises the relationship between history and economics in social science and their significance in the contemporary environment.

Abstract

Jammu and Kashmir, often referred to as "heaven on Earth," has long captivated rulers and poets alike. The famous Persian couplet by Amir Khusrau describes it as unparalleled in beauty, inspiring numerous rulers to vie for control over the region. The Rajatarangini, a metrical chronicle, narrates Kashmir's dynastic history from the Mahabharata era to Sangrama Deva's reign. Avantivarman, a significant ruler of the Utpalas dynasty established in 855 CE, heralded a golden age for Kashmir. Eschewing military conquests, he prioritized peace and prosperity, ushering in a period of unparalleled stability and contentment. His reign, approximately 25 years into his rule, marked Kashmir's zenith in terms of happiness and economic well-being. Avantivarman, though not from a distinguished lineage, exhibited exceptional leadership qualities. His administration not only alleviated the populace's suffering but also revitalized the region's cultural and political legacy, symbolizing a transformative era in Kashmir's history.

Abstract

Marcus Garvey, a proponent of Black Nationalism in the United States, likened a people without historical awareness to a tree without roots. Inspired by this perspective, I explored the historical canon of Kashmir, Jammu, and other Chak Dynasty territories. As residents of Jammu and Kashmir, understanding regional history is crucial. This study examines the Chak Dynasty’s legacy, highlighting its governance from 1561 to 1586. Although administrative records are scarce, the Chaks maintained and reinforced existing institutions. The research investigates their rule, emphasizing their influence on Kashmir’s political and economic structures and its transition under Muslim dominion.

Abstract

The incorporation of faith-based education within secular institutions remains a subject of significant debate, as it seeks to balance inclusivity and pluralism with concerns over religious neutrality. This study examines the rationale, benefits, and challenges of integrating religious education into secular settings, particularly in the context of India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Rather than fostering division, religious education contributes to ethical development, social harmony, and cultural understanding. By instilling moral values and promoting interfaith dialogue, it enhances national knowledge systems and supports holistic learning. However, challenges such as fears of indoctrination, curriculum resistance, and ensuring fair representation of diverse religious perspectives complicate its integration. The NEP 2020’s focus on value-based and multidisciplinary education provides an opportunity to incorporate religious education within a secular framework. Drawing from academic literature, government reports, and expert perspectives, this research highlights the potential of religious education to strengthen the moral and intellectual foundations of society. It also emphasizes addressing challenges through transparent policies, inclusive curriculum development, and structured teacher training. This study employs qualitative methods, including regressive analysis, to offer a comprehensive exploration of the topic.
