Abstract

Abstract

Integrating local culture into language learning is a practical approach to enhancing students' writing skills while promoting positive character values and cultural identity. This study focuses on the utilisation and strengthening of character through digital media in learning to write descriptive texts by highlighting the Malay maritime tradition of the jong boat race as contextual learning material for elementary school students. The purpose of this study is to develop descriptive text writing competencies that incorporate traditional Malay culture, modern technology, and the principles of meaningful learning, thereby fostering the connection between new knowledge and students' existing experiences and knowledge. The method employed is a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative approach uses a pre-experimental one-class pretest-posttest design to measure the improvement of writing skills before and after learning. The qualitative approach is carried out through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation to explore the experiences and responses of students and teachers. Digital media, including photos, short videos, and presentation applications, are used to help students observe, analyse, and describe the characteristics, materials, and processes of the Jong Boat Race. The results indicate that integrating cultural elements supported by digital visual sources and meaningful learning strategies can enhance students' descriptive vocabulary, sentence structure, emotional engagement, and depth of understanding. Furthermore, this approach encourages students to appreciate and preserve Malay maritime traditions, thereby enabling language learning to be integrated with cultural education. The study concluded that technology-enabled culture-based learning not only enriches students' language skills but also strengthens cultural awareness, making it a relevant and sustainable strategy for language education at the primary school level.

Abstract

The Learning Community Program is part of the Merdeka Curriculum strategy that aims to improve teacher competency and performance through collaboration, reflection, and continuous professional development. The Learning Community Program at SMAN 1 Teluk Bintan is named Kombel Keren (Collaborative, Educational, Responsive, and Energetic). This study aims to: 1) explore the implementation of the Learning Community Program using a descriptive evaluative approach with the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model at SMAN 1 Teluk Bintan; 2) the magnitude of the increase in teacher competency and performance; 3) the magnitude of the increase in student learning outcomes. This library research uses data from the 2020/2021 and 2024/2025 academic years. The subjects of this study were teachers of SMAN 1 Teluk Bintan. Data on the Learning Community Program were collected using documentation techniques, observation guidelines, and portfolios. Data on teacher competency and performance were collected using test instruments and documentation techniques. Data on learning outcomes were collected using documentation techniques. Implementation data were analyzed qualitatively and thematically. Data on improving teacher competency and performance as well as data on improving student learning outcomes were analyzed using descriptive statistics, namely the mean. The results of the study: 1) the implementation of the Learning Community Program used a descriptive evaluative approach with the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model based on in-house training and workshops categorized as very active; 2) the magnitude of the score for improving teacher competency and performance was between 10-20; 3) the magnitude of the increase in student learning outcomes was between 0.51 to 0.97.

Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum demands a transformation of the mathematics learning paradigm that emphasizes contextual experience through a problem-solving approach. The low motivation to learn mathematics of SMA Negeri 1 Lingga students, especially in statistics materials with achievements below the KKM (42.86% of students complete), indicates the need for innovative learning strategies that are relevant to the local context. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) based on maritime contextual problems in Lingga Regency in increasing the motivation to learn mathematics of grade X.1 students. The research method used the Kemmis and McTaggart model Classroom Action Research with two learning cycles over three weeks, involving 37 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire based on five indicators with a four-point Likert scale, then analyzed quantitatively descriptively. The results showed a significant increase in motivation scores from 3,249 (medium category) in the first cycle to 3,784 (high category) in the second cycle with an increase of 0.355 points. The contextualization of maritime issues using real data on sea transportation, fishermen's activities, and trade in marine products has succeeded in creating an authentic learning experience that bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. In conclusion, PBL based on the maritime context is effective in increasing students' learning motivation by transforming active participation, presentation courage, and development of independence. It is recommended that the systematic implementation of local context PBL as an alternative learning to increase student involvement in mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital teaching module for Pancasila Education subjects based on local wisdom of Malay culture for grade X students. The study was conducted at SMAN 1 Lingga, Lingga Regency, Riau Islands Province in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The research subjects consisted of grade Pancasila Education subject teachers, grade X-3 students and material and media validator experts. The research method used Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model including the stages of Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. Data collection instruments were in the form of expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning implementation observation sheets. Data analysis used a qualitative and quantitative descriptive approach with a percentage formula. The results of material expert validation reached 100% in the very feasible category, media expert validation 90% in the very feasible category. Teacher responses showed a score of 97% in the very practical category, observation of learning implementation 92% in the very good category, and student responses 95% in the very practical category. A digital teaching module based on local Malay cultural wisdom has proven valid, practical, and effective in enhancing understanding of Pancasila values through contextualization of local culture.
