Abstract

This research aims to increase students' self-efficacy through group counseling services using symbolic modeling techniques in class XI MATLANSOS SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. The research method used was Counseling Guidance Action Research (PTBK), with research subjects of 8 students selected based on low and medium levels of self-confidence. Data collection techniques include self-efficacy scales, interviews, and observations. Data analysis was carried out descriptively qualitatively using the data analysis model from Miles and Huberman. The research results showed a significant increase in students' self-confidence levels after being given intervention through symbolic modeling technique group counseling services. In cycle I, the percentage increase in student self-confidence reached 63%, and in cycle II, this percentage increased to 100%. This shows that the intervention carried out is effective in increasing students' self-efficacy, so that they become more confident in speaking and actively participating in class.

Abstract

This research aims to improve students' career planning at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan through the implementation of information services using discussion techniques. The main focus is to identify and improve students' understanding of career choices that suit their interests and abilities, as well as to increase their involvement in career planning through interactive discussions. The method used in this research is Counseling Guidance Action Research (PTBK), which is a strategy for improving educational services in the classroom context. This research was carried out in two cycles, each involving observation, interviews and questionnaires to collect qualitative and quantitative data. Data was collected through documentation, observation and questionnaire techniques which were processed with quantitative analysis using a modified Likert scale. Evaluation is carried out based on increasing the percentage of students with high career planning. In Cycle I, the results of the questionnaire showed that 60% of students experienced an improvement in their career planning after the information service. However, these results have not reached the success target of 75%. Observations revealed that student involvement in discussions varied, with some students active and others less involved. In Cycle II, after improvements in implementation methods, 80% of students showed improvement in their career planning, achieving the set targets. These results indicate that information services with discussion techniques significantly improve students' understanding of career planning and their ability to plan their future better.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication occurs between at least two people, including between speech-impaired children and the people around them. The problem that arises is that speech-deaf children have weaknesses in hearing and speaking, resulting in hampered interpersonal communication because not everyone understands the symbols used by speech-deaf children in communicating. The theory used in this study belongs to the theory group of interpersonal messages, namely the theory of symbolic interactionism from George Herbert Mead. Symbolic interaction is a means for deaf children to understand everything that happens around them. This theory was chosen because the research object taken was the interaction between the therapist and the speech-deaf child during interpersonal communication through the use of verbal and nonverbal symbols. This study uses a qualitative research method, namely case studies. This study aims to find out how interpersonal communication verbally and nonverbally occurs between a therapist and a child with hearing impairment in communication skills training. Research was conducted through in-depth interviews (in-depth interviews), observation, and documentation. The research sample was taken through purposive sampling by specifying special characteristics according to the research objectives. The samples taken were five out of seven speech-deaf children and five out of six therapists at the Surakarta State Extraordinary School Clinic (SLBN) with consideration of the age of the speech-deaf children and the therapists who provided therapy to them.The results of this study indicate that speech-deaf children are taught to use lip reading more than sign language. The therapist provides practice by inviting the child to feel the sound vibrations when the therapist speaks and asking the child to imitate the therapist’s words. The limitation of this research is the inability of the researcher to directly interact with the deaf children because the researcher does not yet have sufficient ability to communicate using sign language. During the research, it was found that deaf children combined lip reading with sign language in communicating with others. If balanced with consistent use of hearing aids, the ability to hear children with hearing impairments will get better. Abstract

Abstrak Konsep Diri yang merupakan bagaimana cara pandang serta perasaan seorang individu terhadap dirinya yang sifatnya psikologis, sosial dan fisik. Konsep diri dapat menghantarkan manusia dalam mengambil sikap dan cara menjalani hidupnya sehari-hari. Sekolah yang merupakan wadah siswa untuk belajar, menjadi wadah untuk mendidik anak bangs. Dalam Undang-Undang No 20 tahun 2003 Pasal 3, dinyatakan bahwa Fungsi Pendidikan “Mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa”. Peserta didik yang menjadi sasaran objek pendidikan mulai dari proses pendidikan, tentunya diharapkan dapat berkembang dan membentuk diri sesuai yang diharapkan, yakni tidak hanya menjadi individu yang berintelek untuk mengembangkan potensi setiap anak. Maka anak didik memerlukan fasilitator untuk membantu tumbuh kembangnya menjadi individu yang seutuhnya dengan menyelesaikan tugas perkembangan dengan optimal dan mencegah ataupun mengatasi hambatan-hambatan dari tugas perkembangan di fase remaja. Maka dari itu sebagai mahasiswa PPL 1 dari Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara di Satuan Pendidikan tingkat MA, yakni SMA IT AL-Ulum Tuasan Medan menyadari pentingnya Guru BK dalam bersikap dan menindaklanjuti keadaan ini agar terciptanya lingkungan sosial yang lebih baik dengan menelaah dari akarnya yakni Sikap dari Konsep Diri Negatif siswa. Adapun Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif yakni wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah Untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran Guru BK dalam mengatasi Konsep Diri Negatif Siswa di SMA IT Al-Ulum Tuasan Medan. Hasil dari Penelitian ini adalah bagaimana pentingnya Peran Guru BK di Sekolah, Lalu langkah apa yang dapat dilakukan Guru BK serta apa saja tahap-tahap dalam melaksanakan Layanan BK tersebut.
