Abstract

The research investigates technology integration in elementary education, focusing on teachers' experiences, challenges, and strategies in Semarang City and Blora Regency, Indonesia. As technology rapidly evolves, its application in education becomes increasingly vital, yet the effective integration of digital tools remains a challenge in many primary schools. Teachers' perspectives and practices are critical in shaping how technology impacts learning outcomes. The primary objective of this study is to explore the various strategies teachers employ in integrating technology into the classroom, identify the challenges they encounter, and assess the overall impact of technology on students' learning experiences. A qualitative research method was used, employing in-depth interviews and classroom observations with elementary school teachers from selected schools in Semarang and Blora. The findings reveal that while teachers recognize the potential of technology in enhancing learning, they face several challenges, such as limited resources, insufficient training, and resistance from students or parents. However, many teachers have developed innovative strategies to overcome these obstacles, incorporating various digital tools to foster interactive and engaging learning environments. In conclusion, the research highlights the need for more comprehensive support, professional development, and resource allocation to integrate technology into elementary education effectively. This study provides valuable insights for policymakers and educators to enhance technology adoption and improve primary school educational practices.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the implementation of Indonesia’s Independent Curriculum in elementary schools, focusing on three pedagogical aspects: differentiated instruction, project-based learning (PBL), and formative assessment. A systematic review of literature published between 2020 and 2025 was conducted to identify emerging trends and challenges in applying these strategies. The findings indicate that the Independent Curriculum’s student-centered approach has led to more personalized and active learning experiences. Differentiated instruction is promoted to meet diverse student needs, and early evidence suggests it can improve student engagement and learning outcomes. PBL, exemplified by interdisciplinary projects to strengthen the  Pancasila Student Profile, has fostered critical thinking and collaboration. Likewise, formative assessment practices are increasingly adopted, shifting the focus from high-stakes exams to continuous feedback on student learning. However, significant challenges were identified. Many teachers face difficulties in designing differentiated lessons and PBL activities due to varying student abilities, limited resources, and insufficient training. Adapting to a holistic, formative assessment approach has also proven challenging for educators accustomed to traditional testing. Based on these findings, the study provides practical recommendations for stakeholders, including enhanced teacher professional development, improved infrastructure support, and collaborative strategies to overcome implementation barriers. This synthesis offers insights into the progress of Independent Curriculum in primary education and underscores the need for ongoing support to realize its student-centered vision fully.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the digital literacy practices of Indonesian elementary school students in overcoming technology access gaps. A systematic literature review was conducted across Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar for publications from 2020 to 2025. Following PRISMA guidelines and using narrative synthesis, 10 empirical studies were selected based on their focus on student-centered strategies under constrained infrastructure. Findings reveal that students employ collaborative scheduling of school computer labs and community centers; leverage personal smartphones with peer-to-peer sharing via Bluetooth and messaging apps; integrate offline materials such as printed modules and USB flash drives; and utilize “lite” versions of digital quiz platforms for formative assessment. Additionally, single-download interactive content (e.g., PhET simulations, Extended Reality recordings) is repeatedly accessed offline. These adaptive practices underscore the critical role of teachers in designing hybrid learning packages and highlight the need for supportive policies standardized offline modules, teacher training in blended pedagogy, and development of bandwidth-optimized digital platforms to ensure inclusive and sustainable digital literacy.
