Abstract

The phenomenon of fatherlessness has become a global issue that affects the psychological and emotional development of children into adulthood. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of positive affirmation therapy in reducing aggression behavior in female college students who experience fatherlessness. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with the subjects of three female college students aged 20-21 years. Data were collected through a fatherless impact questionnaire, observation sheets, and the implementation of positive affirmation therapy for four intervention sessions. The results showed that the experience of being fatherless had an impact on low self-esteem, lack of security, and inability to establish a close relationship with the father. Positive affirmation therapy significantly decreased aggression scores in all subjects, from severe and moderate categories to moderate. The intervention also improved subjects self-control, as supported by previous research. In conclusion, positive affirmation therapy is effective in addressing the psychological impact of father absence and can be used as a non-pharmacological intervention that supports emotional well-being. Further research is recommended to expand the number of subjects and explore additional interventions.

Abstract

Introduction: Elderly people with hypertension are at risk of experiencing anxiety due to chronic disease conditions, physical dependence, and psychosocial changes. Al-Qur'an murottal therapy is a potential spiritual approach to reduce anxiety. Family involvement in implementing this therapy at home is an approach that has not been widely explored in the context of religious communities. Objective: This study aims to determine the role of families in providing Al-Qur'an murottal therapy to reduce anxiety in elderly people with hypertension. Method: This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design involving five families in Karang Tengah Hamlet, Balokang Village, Banjar City. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and measurement of anxiety levels using the Geriatric Anxiety Scale (GAS) before and after therapy. The murottal therapy intervention was carried out by the family for seven consecutive days. Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques, while quantitative data were analyzed descriptively-comparatively. Results: All respondents experienced a decrease in anxiety scores after the intervention, with a score difference between 13 and 30 points. GAS scores showed a decrease from moderate to mild or minimal anxiety categories. Family involvement in guiding and playing murottal consistently strengthens the relaxation effect, sense of security, and emotional support for the elderly and family spiritually, increases the elderly's mental peace, and strengthens affective relationships within the family. Conclusion: Providing murottal Al-Qur'an therapy by families on a regular basis has been proven effective in reducing anxiety levels in elderly people with hypertension. This approach is relevant to be implemented as a community nursing intervention based on spirituality and local culture, especially in religious communities.

Abstract

Introduction: Cyberbullying is a growing phenomenon with the increasing use of digital technology and social media among adolescents. This phenomenon can affect adolescents' mental and emotional well-being, even having long-term impacts on their psychological health. This study aims to reveal the prevalence, risk factors, and psychological impact of cyberbullying among adolescents. Objective: This study aims to explore the prevalence, risk factors, and psychological impact of cyberbullying among adolescents, with a focus on the relationship between cyberbullying and mental health outcomes such as depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Method: This study used a literature search design with articles searched through three search engines: Ebsco, Proquest, and Google Scholar. The articles used were research conducted within the last five years (2020-2025), using the keywords "cyberbullying," "adolescence," and "effects." A total of 594 articles were found, which were then narrowed down to nine articles that met the inclusion criteria. Result: This study found that the prevalence of cyberbullying among adolescents globally ranges from 13.99% to 57.5%. Key risk factors include personal characteristics such as age, gender, and online behavior. The most common psychological impacts include decreased happiness, increased anxiety, depression, and an increased risk of suicide, especially for those who experience cyberbullying alongside traditional bullying. Conclusion: Cyberbullying has a significant impact on adolescent mental health, particularly in the form of psychological disorders such as depression and anxiety. Therefore, preventive efforts involving parents, schools, and the community are crucial to mitigate the negative impact of this phenomenon. Emotional education and strong parent-child relationships can help prevent cyberbullying.

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescents are an age group that is vulnerable to stress and has a serious impact on mental health. Pressure, social, and developmental transitions make vocational high school students a high-risk group for mental disorders such as anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, understanding and access to mental health services are still very limited among adolescents. Objective: This study was to improve students' understanding of stress, its impact on health, and stress management techniques through applicable health education at SMK Suryalaya. Method: This activity was carried out through mental health education to 61 students in grades X and XI at SMK Suryalaya, using interactive lecture methods, visual media, and pretest and posttest evaluations. Data were analyzed to see changes in student knowledge before and after the educational intervention. Results: There was an increase in the average score of student knowledge from 8.14 in the pretest to 9.53 in the posttest, with a difference of 1.39 points. Most students who were originally in the "moderate" category moved to the "high" category after the intervention. All participants experienced an increase or maintained their maximum score without a decrease in value. Conclusion: Health education on stress management has been proven to be effective in improving mental health literacy in adolescents. This intervention not only strengthens students' conceptual understanding, but also builds awareness of the importance of managing stress in a healthy way. This activity can be used as a promotive-preventive model for other schools to create a learning environment that supports students' mental health.
