The World Health Organization in 2019 reported that approximately 1.13 billion people worldwide suffer from hypertension, meaning that 1 in 3 people globally is diagnosed with hypertension. Hypertension can cause individuals to experience anxiety, which, in turn, can worsen their condition. Therefore, hypertensive patients experiencing anxiety require appropriate and effective treatment to reduce anxiety and prevent worsening hypertension. Objective To describe the characteristics of elderly individuals experiencing anxiety, to illustrate the results of anxiety detection using the HARS method, to explain the implementation of the guided imagery technique, and to assess changes in anxiety levels among elderly hypertensive patients following guided imagery therapy. Research Method A qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method was used to explore nursing issues and client intervention techniques by applying guided imagery therapy to reduce anxiety in elderly hypertensive patients. The results is Anxiety reduction was observed after guided imagery therapy, with a decrease of 5 points in respondent 1, 3 points in respondent 2, and 6 points in respondent 3. The study concluded that after four days of guided imagery therapy, all three respondents experienced a reduction in anxiety levels. Initially, all three respondents had severe anxiety levels. Abstract

Abstract Hypertension is a chronic condition with a high prevalence, increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney failure. Recent data suggest that hypertension affects not only adults but also adolescents, with a rising prevalence. Major risk factors include an unhealthy lifestyle, obesity, genetic predisposition, and lack of physical activity. Preventive efforts are essential to increase awareness among adolescents about maintaining heart health through physical activity. This community service program aimed to enhance adolescents' understanding of hypertension risks and prevention through the "Heart Care Movement" with Healthy Heart Exercise. Conducted at SMAN 7 Tasikmalaya, the program involved 86 grade XII students. Methods included interactive education using leaflets and the implementation of Healthy Heart Exercise led by instructors from the Bachelor of Nursing program at Universitas Bakti Tunas Husada. Evaluations involved pre-test and post-test knowledge assessments and monitoring participants' heart rates. Results indicated a significant improvement in students' knowledge about hypertension and the benefits of physical activity. The average knowledge score increased from 59.77 in the pre-test to 83.02 in the post-test. Active participation in education and exercise sessions demonstrated strong enthusiasm for the program. Supported by the Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) model, which actively engaged the school, this initiative proved effective in raising awareness. Integrating such programs into routine school activities could foster a culture of healthy living from an early age and reduce future hypertension risks. Keywords: hypertension, adolescents, prevention, healthy heart exercise, community service.

Abstract

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of mortality worldwide, with early prevention efforts ideally started during adolescence. Risk factors such as high blood pressure, obesity, and poor lifestyle habits often emerge during the teenage years and require promotive-preventive strategies within the school environment. Objective: The purpose of this service was to increase cardiovascular health awareness and conduct early screening of cardiovascular risk factors among vocational high school students. Method: This public service was conducted by lecturers and students of the Nursing and Professional Nurse Program at Universitas Bakti Tunas Husada. The activities included questionnaire screening (Z-CHECK), vital signs measurement (blood pressure, heart rate, BMI), fitness testing using the Modified Step Test, health education, and pre–post knowledge assessment. A total of 66 students from grades X and XI at SMK Suryalaya participated in the program on May 27, 2025. Result: The screening showed that 6 students had hypertension, 23 had hypotension, and 9 were obese. One student had irregular pulse, while all others showed normal cardiovascular fitness levels. Knowledge scores improved significantly from a pre-test average of 60 to a post-test average of 82. Conclusion: The program effectively identified early cardiovascular risk factors and significantly increased students’ knowledge about heart health. This model is applicable for school-based health promotion and prevention programs.

Data were collected via an online questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and binary logistic regression. Results: A total of 70.6% of respondents were categorized as high-risk and 11.9% as very high-risk for hypertension. Significant contributing factors included late-night eating habits (OR=4.85; p<0.005), consumption of high-sodium processed foods (OR=2.48; p<0.005), and inadequate water intake (OR=1.97; p<0.05). Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is no longer a health issue limited to adults but increasingly affects adolescents. Its asymptomatic nature makes it difficult to detect early, while lifestyle factors such as poor diet, lack of physical activity, and stress significantly increase the risk. Early intervention through school-based programs is crucial to increase awareness and prevention. Objective: The purpose of this service was to provide promotive and preventive efforts against hypertension in adolescents at SMK Suryalaya, Tasikmalaya, by increasing their knowledge, awareness, and healthy lifestyle practices through health screening, education, and counseling Method: This public service was conducted by lecturers and students of Universitas Bakti Tunas Husada in collaboration with SMK Suryalaya. The program consisted of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Screening included measurement of blood pressure, pulse, body mass index (BMI), and fitness tests. Health education was delivered through interactive lectures and discussions, while personal counseling was provided for students identified with health risks. Result: The activity involved 58 students (34 from grade X and 24 from grade XI). Screening results revealed 9.1% hypertension, 34.8% hypotension, and 13.6% obesity, indicating significant cardiovascular risks. Health education improved students’ knowledge with an average score increase from 60 (pre-test) to 82 (post-test), a gain of 36.7%, shifting most students from “moderate” to “high” knowledge categories. Personalized counseling for at-risk students enhanced their understanding and commitment to adopting healthier habits. Conclusion: This program demonstrated that integrating screening, education, and counseling effectively improved adolescent health awareness and promoted preventive behaviors. Early detection and health promotion in schools are essential strategies to reduce long-term cardiovascular risks. The program can serve as a replicable model for adolescent health promotion in other educational institutions.
