Abstract

The oil and gas industry, particularly during the exploration stage such as seismic projects, faces high risks related to occupational safety and environmental impact. This study aims to identify and evaluate risk management strategies based on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) in a seismic oil and gas project at PT XYZ. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, and analysis of HSE documents such as HIRARC and incident reports. The research was conducted across PALI, Muara Enim, and Musi Banyuasin Regencies in South Sumatra. The findings reveal that the primary risks include workplace accidents, social disturbances due to land conflict, and environmental pollution. Key implementation barriers of the HSE Plan include weak supervision in remote areas, uneven safety training, and the lack of a digital incident reporting system. Nevertheless, mitigation strategies such as work rotation schedules, emergency drills, and the involvement of local community leaders have proven effective in reducing risk exposure. This study highlights the importance of an adaptive HSE approach that considers geographic and social contexts and the need to digitize risk monitoring systems. The implications suggest that the risk management model developed from this research can serve as a practical reference for planning HSE strategies in other oil and gas exploration projects in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study focuses on Steam Power Plant companies (PLTU) in Serang Regency (Suralaya Power Plant, Jawa 7 Power Plant, and Merak Energi Indonesia Power Plant). It investigates the impact of sustainable strategies, specifically energy management and carbon emission disclosure, on company performance. The data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to 270 respondents, which were subsequently analyzed using the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach. The direct analysis shows that green manufacturing not significantly affect company performance, conversely, energy management significantly improves company performance, green manufacturing significantly influences carbon emission disclosure. Energy management also contributes to higher carbon emission disclosure, and carbon emission disclosure positively affects company performance, emphasizing the benefits of transparency for stakeholder trust and operational efficiency. Indirect effects reveal that green manufacturing and energy management positively impact company performance through carbon emission disclosure. This research offers insights for PLTU companies in Serang Regency. Sustainable strategies focusing on energy management and carbon emission disclosure enhance company performance and transparency. Further investigation is needed to understand complex relationships, considering external factors and specific management practices. These findings provide significant insights but are part of the broader puzzle in achieving sustainable business practices and superior performance.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan merumuskan strategi komprehensif untuk meningkatkan kinerja operasional dan keberlanjutan energi pada pembangkit listrik di Provinsi Banten melalui integrasi analisis Value Chain dan SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat). Permasalahan utama yang diangkat adalah kebutuhan mendesak untuk mencapai efisiensi operasional maksimum sambil mendorong transisi menuju sistem energi yang lebih berkelanjutan dan rendah karbon. Penelitian ini mengadopsi metode mixed-method, menggabungkan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan pihak manajerial, penyebaran kuesioner, dan observasi lapangan. Analisis kualitatif (Value Chain dan SWOT) dilanjutkan dengan analisis kuantitatif menggunakan Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) untuk memprioritaskan strategi yang paling berdampak dan feasible. Hasil analisis QSPM mengidentifikasi tiga strategi prioritas yang harus segera diimplementasikan. Pertama, optimalisasi sistem Automatic Generation Control (AGC) untuk meningkatkan efisiensi operasi. Kedua, penerapan co-firing biomassa secara masif untuk mengurangi ketergantungan pada batubara. Ketiga, digitalisasi sistem pemeliharaan berbasis predictive maintenance. Strategi ini diprediksi mampu meningkatkan Equivalent Availability Factor (EAF) sebesar 3%, menurunkan Heat Rate sebesar 2%, dan meningkatkan bauran energi terbarukan hingga 10%. Implementasi strategi ini akan dilakukan melalui roadmap lima tahunan yang terstruktur, didukung oleh kebijakan internal yang kuat mengenai efisiensi energi dan kemitraan strategis dengan pemangku kepentingan. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini memberikan acuan transformasional yang praktis bagi industri pembangkit listrik di Banten untuk mencapai sistem yang efisien, berdaya saing, dan mendukung tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (SDGs) nasional. Implementasi dilakukan bertahap melalui roadmap lima tahun, didukung kebijakan efisiensi energi dan kolaborasi lintas pemangku kepentingan. Hasilnya diharapkan menjadi acuan transformasi menuju sistem pembangkit yang efisien, berkelanjutan, dan rendah karbon.
