Abstract

Pada Desember 2024, banjir setinggi 40 cm terjadi di Jalan Soekarno-Hatta depan Pasar Induk Gedebage. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi jaringan drainase yang menerima permasalahan banjir dapat diatasi. Dari hasil simulasi dengan program SWMM dengan dimensi saluran eksisting didapat bahwa drainase mampu menampung debit banjir pada catchment area drainase. Maka dilakukan analisis terhadap gorong-gorong yang menerima debit dari Sungai Cinambo, Sungai Cipamulihan, dan Sungai Jajaway guna mencari penyebab lain terjadinya banjir. Dari hasil analisis didapat bahwa kapasitas gorong-gorong tidak mencukupi untuk kala ulang 25 tahun sehingga dilakukan perencanaan ulang. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan solusi jangka waktu pendek berupa normalisasi sungai, jangka waktu menengah dilakukan dengan perencanaan ulang gorong-gorong Sungai Cinambo dan Sungai Cipamulihan sehingga dapat mengurangi luasan banjir sebanyak 10.65 ha dari semula 106.40 ha, dan untuk jangka waktu panjang berupa pengembangkan infrastruktur hijau.

Abstract

This study aims to optimize the Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) system at Bandung State Polytechnic as a strategy for water resource conservation and strengthening the Green Campus concept. The research was conducted by identifying the existing condition of the RWH system at 25 campus building points, analyzing hydrological potential using BMKG rainfall data from 2014–2024, as well as evaluating efficiency and developing technical optimization recommendations. The existing RWH system is dominated by tanks with a capacity of 1,050–2,000 liters, which do not yet function optimally due to limited capacity, channel blockages, and variations in pipe diameter. The analysis shows an average annual rainfall of 2,831 mm with a potential rainwater catchment of up to 70 m³ per month, sufficient to meet 25–30% of the campus's non-potable water demand. System optimization is proposed by increasing tank capacity to 5,000–10,000 liters, using 3–4 inch pipes, and implementing multi-layer filtration and automated control, thus increasing system efficiency to 40–60%. The integrated system prototype in classrooms and laboratories has been proven to reduce PDAM water consumption by 40% and surface runoff by up to 35%. The research outcomes support the achievement of UI GreenMetric water conservation indicators and contribute to the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) points 6 and 13. This study provides recommendations for an adaptive RWH system replication model for other educational institutions in Indonesia to manage water resources sustainably and efficiently.​

Abstract

Poor household waste management can lead to environmental pollution and health issues. To address the issue, a community service program was conducted in RW 13, Ciwaruga Village, through Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot cultivation for organic waste processing and the establishment of a waste bank for inorganic waste management. The program was implemented using a participatory approach consisting of baseline assessment, community counseling, hands-on training, mentoring, and monitoring and evaluation. These activities aimed to improve household waste segregation, reduce waste generation, and increase the economic value of waste through integrated organic and inorganic waste management. Baseline assessment results indicated that community knowledge and attitudes toward waste management were relatively high (75% and 60%, respectively), while waste management practices remained below 50%. Following the intervention, knowledge increased from 75% to 92%, attitudes improved from 60% to 85%, and proper waste management practices increased from below 50% to 80%. Community members were also able to independently sort household waste, implement BSF maggot cultivation for organic waste treatment, and manage a community-based waste bank. These findings demonstrate that the program successfully strengthened community capacity for integrated and sustainable household waste management, reduced the volume of waste sent to landfills, and generated environmental and economic benefits.
