This research examines the therapeutic potential of the Qodiriyah-Naqsyabandiyah Tariqa (TQN) spiritual tradition as a solution to the need for a holistic and relevant Islamic counseling model. Focusing on Pesantren Suryalaya as a case study, the study aims to analyze the dynamics of TQN's spiritual guidance, identify its therapeutic elements, and formulate a tariqa-based counseling model. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study at pesantren suralaya. ata analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings reveal an effective integrative counseling model that blends Sufi practices such as dhikr, riyadhah, and reflective dialogue with core Islamic values like sabr (patience), tawakkul (reliance on God), and ridha (sincere acceptance). This model is proven to address psycho-spiritual issues and strengthen the character of students through a holistic collaboration among counselors, caregivers, and religious leaders (kiai). Although challenges exist, such as the potential for reducing the tariqa's meaning and low spiritual literacy among counselors, the study emphasizes the urgency of overcoming them through Sufi-based counselor training and the development of hybrid digital platforms. Overall, these findings affirm the relevance of the tariqa tradition in shaping a holistic, value-based, and contextual Islamic counseling practice amidst modern challenges.

This study is motivated by the challenges of religious outreach in coastal communities, particularly in Bancar District, Tuban, which faces digital disruption, shifts in patterns of religious communication, and the growing potential for polarization of religious understanding in cyberspace. Problems in da’wah communication arise when traditional da’wah approaches fail to adapt to the development of digital media, while digital religious content often lacks the context of local wisdom among coastal communities. This study aims to formulate a model of digital-cultural hybrid da’wah for coastal communities to strengthen religious moderation among maritime communities in Bancar Subdistrict. The method used is a qualitative approach with a field study design. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews with religious leaders, majelis taklim administrators, traditional leaders, and coastal communities, as well as documentation of digital da’wah activities in the Bancar region. Data was obtained from 10 informants consisting of 3 local da’is, 1 mosque administrator, 1 traditional leader, and 5 active congregants. The research findings indicate that the hybridization of coastal da’wah is realized through the integration of social media, visual-educational content, and digital platforms with narratives rooted in local traditions, maritime culture, and the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah as part of a digital-cultural approach. The resulting model encompasses three main components: adaptive digitalization, cultural reinterpretation, and the internalization of moderation. This approach strengthens inclusive, dialogic, and contextual da’wah communication, thereby contributing to increased tolerance, anti-violence attitudes, and national commitment among coastal communities in Bancar Subdistrict. This study concludes that the hybridization of da’wah based on the integration of digital technology and local wisdom holds strategic potential in strengthening a moderate da’wah ecosystem rooted in coastal communities. The contribution of this research lies in the formulation of a conceptual model for the hybridization of coastal da’wah as an innovative approach to strengthening religious moderation in maritime regions, particularly in Bancar Subdistrict, Tuban

The marginalization of local history and the weakening relationship between younger generations and indigenous Islamic heritage pose significant challenges for coastal communities in Indonesia. This study examines a community empowerment model employing Focus Group Discussion (FGD) as a participatory method to reconstruct inclusive local historiography while revitalizing culturally based Islamic preaching (dakwah kultural) in Tuban Regency, East Java. Grounded in a Participatory Action Research approach, the intervention involved 60 purposively selected participants, including academics, university students, religious leaders, local history communities such as Tuban Bercerita, and members of the wider community. The FGD was organized into three thematic sessions focusing on local history reconstruction, dakwah kultural, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. Thematic analysis revealed a strong public demand for accessible historical narratives, widespread recognition of inaccuracies in official historiography, and the emergence of culturally grounded preaching models integrating local symbols, such as the keris, as media for conveying Islamic values. The process also generated tangible academic and practical outcomes, including the establishment of collaborative networks between universities and grassroots communities. These findings demonstrate that FGD functions not only as a dialogical platform for knowledge co-production but also as a mechanism for strengthening social capital, fostering collective awareness, and facilitating the intergenerational transmission of local identity. This study offers a replicable bottom-up framework for integrating cultural heritage into Islamic preaching and community empowerment initiatives.
