Abstract

Agricultural development aims to improve the living standards of farmers and the welfare of the community, one of which is fruit farming which has a strategic role in economic development at the local level to the national level. So, this study aims to identify the region's leading commodities and recommend land suitability as the basis for its development. This research uses quantitative-qualitative methods with a Location Quotient (LQ), Ship Share Analysis (SSA) approach, where this analysis is used to identify fruit commodities cultivated in an area to determine the base commodity, comparative and competitive advantages. Furthermore, a land analysis was carried out with the aim of determining the suitability of the superior commodity land in the South Tinangkung District. The results of the LQ-SSA analysis for the leading fruit commodities in South Tinangkung District are citrus plants. Furthermore, the analysis of land suitability for citrus crops, namely the criteria of sufficient compliance (S2) with an area of 3087.5 ha, and marginal (S3) covering an area of 1222.6 ha, with limiting factors in its development, namely texture, N, P, slopes and C-organic.

Abstract

Tanaman Kopi saat ini merupakan komoditas tanaman perkebunan yang diharapkan dapat dilakukan alternatif manajemen praktis yang tepat dikalangan petani, sehingga pengembangan tanaman kopi robusta (Coffea robusta L) harus berdasarkan potensi lahan yang diestimasi melalui sifat dan karakternya. Sehingga perlunya mengetahui kesesuaian lahan, luasan dan factor pembatas dalam pengembangan tanaman kopi robusta di Kecamatan Lobu Kabupaten Banggai. Penelitian ini menggunakan atas dasar nilai ciri lahan merujuk pada sistem klsifikasi FAO (1976). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pada kesesuaian lahan aktual tanaman kopi robusta Kecamatan Lobu diperoleh pada titik 1, 2, 3 dan 4 tergolong “tidak sesuai”, hal ini karena adanya factor pembatas tekstur (titik 1) dan curah hujan (titik 1,2,3 dan 4) yang tergolong rendah. Maka perlunya upaya perbaiakan dengan melakukan pembuatan saluran irigasi agar air dapat memenuhi kebutuhan tanaman kopi robusta (Coffea robusta L), akan tetapi untuk factor pembatas tekstur tidak dapat dilakukan perbaikan. Sehingga diperoleh potensial lahan tanaman kopi robusta Kecamatan Lobu pada titik 1 yaitu tidak sesuai (N), pada titik 2, 3 dan 4 tergolong S3 (sesuai marginal). Dengan mempertimbangkan faktor pembatas dan upaya perbaiakn maka, arahan untuk pengembangan tanaman kopi robusta (Coffea robusta L) dapat dilakukan pada wilayah titik 2, 3 dan 4 dengan luas yaitu 3.137,12 ha.

Abstract

Basic human needs are something that is needed by man to maintain his life, and the carrying capacity of food crops is very important for food availability in the face of food crises in each region. The purpose of this study is to find out which non-rice food crops are superior and the carrying capacity of non-rice superior food crops that can be used as alternative food in Banggai Regency. The data used in this research is data on the production of non-rice food crops in 2017 and 2021. Furthermore, the research was conducted using qualitative methods that were analyzed descriptively quantitatively with the LQ-SSA approach and the Carrying Capacity of Agricultural Area Land. So that the results of the analysis of LQ and SSA of non-rice food crops that are superior are obtained, namely corn which is spread in 14 districts, sweet potatoes in 5 districts, peanuts in 4 districts, and soybeans in 1 district. Furthermore, the land carrying capacity of non-rice superior food crops, obtained the results of corn, sweet potato, peanut, and soybean plants experiencing a surplus (SL>DL), which means that these superior food crops can contribute to a decent life for the population and determine the carrying capacity of the agricultural area of food crops. non-rice seed, the result is corn (ℓ > 1), which means that corn can be used as an alternative food to replace rice. As well as for Sweet Potato, Peanut, and Soybean plants, the results obtained (ℓ < 1), which means that these plants cannot be used as an alternative food to replace rice in Banggai Regency.

Abstract

Agricultural development aims to improve the living standards of farmers and the welfare of their people. The prospects for the development of peanut farming business are very bright in order to increase the income and welfare of farmers, so there is a need for a strategy in the development of peanuts as a leading commodity. Thus, this study aims to develop a strategy for developing peanuts as a leading commodity in South Tinangkung District, Banggai Islands Regency. The research was conducted from June to November 2022 in South Tinangkung District, Banggai Islands Regency. The data used in this study is primary data. Primary data were obtained by conducting structured interviews and direct observations from certain natural places by circulating questionnaires to respondents. Furthermore, the research used the SWOT method, namely SO (Strength-Opportunity), WO (Weakness-Opportunity), ST (Strength-Threats), and WT (Weakness-Threats). The results obtained in this study are that the development of peanut crop commodities in South Tinangkung District is in the second tier (diversification). so that the most appropriate strategy to be applied is Strategy-ST, thus the main strategy for the development of peanuts as a superior commodity is to utilize the experience of farmers in farming peanut crops with the ability to carry out land management to overcome the shortage of Agriculture machinery needs, in addition to that, it can maximize the role of Agricultural cooperation and can reduce high labor wages.

Abstract

Abstrak. Peningkatan kebutuhan pangan saat ini sejalan dengan pertumbuhan penduduk, yang secara otomatis menuntut pencapaian ketahanan pangan harus terpenuhi sebagai wujud dari kemandirian pangan di setiap wilayah. sehingga tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui daya dukung lahan padi sawah dalam melaksanakan swasembada pangan untuk kehidupan masyarakat yang layak di Kecamatan Tinangkung Selatan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli sampai November 2022, dengan menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer dilakukan untuk menentukan kesesuaian lahan sawah dengan metode perbandingan (matching) dan data sekunder digunakan untuk menentukan daya dukung lahan sawah di Kecamatan Tinangkung Selatan. Adapun hasil analisis kesesuaian lahan padi sawah aktual diperoleh kriteria marginal (S3), dengan faktor pembatas kandungan KB tanah dan C-organik yang tergolong rendah, serta yakni kandungan P2O5 dan N-total yang tergolong rendah hingga sangat rendah. Namun, setelah dilakukan upaya perbaikan pada lahan sawah di Kecamatan Tinangkung Selatan diperoleh kesesuaian lahan padi sawah potensial yakni kriteria sangat sesuai (S1). Selanjutnya penetuan daya dukung wilayah pertanian untuk tanaman padi sawah di Kecamatan Tinangkung Selatan diperoleh hasil (ℓ 1), wilayah tersebut tidak mampu melaksanakan swasembada pangan. Artinya, padi sawah belum memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat sebagai kemandirian pangan di Kecamatan Tinangkung Selatan di Kabupaten Banggai Kepulauan. Carrying Capacity of Paddy Fields as Food Independence in South Tinangkung DistrictAbstract. The current increase in food needs is in line with population growth, which automatically demands that the achievement of food security must be met as a form of food independence in each region. so, the purpose of this study was to determine the carrying capacity of paddy fields in carrying out food self-sufficiency for the decent life of the community in South Tinangkung District. This research was conducted from July to November 2022, using primary data and secondary data. Primary data was carried out to determine the suitability of paddy fields using the matching method and secondary data was used to determine the carrying capacity of paddy fields in South Tinangkung District. The results of the analysis of the suitability of actual paddy rice fields obtained marginal criteria (S3), with limiting factors for soil KB and C-organic content which are relatively low, and namely the content of P2O5 and N-total which are classified as low to very low. However, after carrying out efforts to improve paddy fields in South Tinangkung District, the suitability of potential paddy rice fields was obtained, namely the very appropriate criteria (S1). Furthermore, the determination of the carrying capacity of the agricultural area for paddy rice crops in South Tinangkung District obtained results (ℓ 1), but the area was unable to carry out food self-sufficiency. This means that paddy rice has not met the needs of the community as food independence in South Tinangkung District in Banggai Islands Regency.

Abstract

Sustainable agriculture has a role in improving the living standards of farmers and the welfare of their communities. The purpose of this study is to identify superior food commodities and determine the strategy for their development in the Banggai Islands Regency. This study used Location Quotient (LQ), Ship Share Analysis (SSA), and SWOT approaches. The research results from determining competitive and comparative superior food commodities in the Banggai Islands Regency, namely cassava, taro, and sweet potatoes, were obtained from Banggai plants in 5 sub-districts, then sweet potato plants were obtained in 3 districts, and corn and peanut plants. the harvest was obtained by 1 district. Furthermore, the strategy for developing superior food crop commodities in Banggai Islands Regency is Strategy (ST), namely utilizing farmers' experience in farming, the ability to manage land to overcome the limitations of agricultural machinery, increasing the role of combined farmer groups which have not been maximized to reduce high labor wages. Next, utilize the availability of food crop commodity seed stocks to overcome the procurement of superior food crop seeds which are difficult to obtain. In addition, local governments are advised to encourage efforts to intensify superior agriculture by implementing strategies and directives following this research and are expected to improve facilities for farmers' needs to obtain better production and crop productivity in the future. With the results obtained, there is a need for the government's role as a facilitator for farmers in overcoming obstacles and fulfilling solutions based on the strategies obtained.

Abstract

Banggai yam is one of the food crop agricultural commodities categorized as an endemic plant of Banggai Islands Regency. Besides being endemic, Banggai yam is also the main food for the people of Banggai Islands, especially in Totikum. So it is necessary to conduct research with the aim of knowing the nutrients in banggai yam land and the direction of banggai yam development in Sambiut village and Abason village, Totikum District, Banggai Islands Regency. The research was conducted in Sambiut and Abason Villages using a descriptive exploratory survey approach. Furthermore, the results of the analysis obtained will be tabulated in tabular form and narrated in sentence form. Based on the results of laboratory analysis of banggai yam plants in the totikum district of Sambiut and Abason villages have a marginal category (S3), because the limiting factor is rainfall base saturation. The limiting factor of rainfall can be improved by changing the planting time or making irrigation channels for the water needs of plants, although it requires relatively high costs. Furthermore, the limiting factor of base saturation can be improved by applying dolomite lime or organic materials such as biochar. Thus, the results of potential land suitability in Sambiut and Abason Villages are moderately suitable (S2). These results are expected to provide information to stakeholders in managing banggai yam land in order to obtain more production in the future, so that Ubi banggai can be available as food in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Soil fertility maps are vital tools in agriculture and land management, offering essential information for decision-makers. The availability of soil nutrients significantly impacts crop production. This study aimed to assess soil nutrient content and develop a soil fertility map for mixed farmland in the Banggai Islands region of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The research involved soil sampling at a depth of 0-20 cm from 60 random points, followed by laboratory analysis and geostatistical interpolation using the Kriging Semivariogram (Spherical) method in ArcGIS to create the soil fertility status map. Validation was conducted using absolute mean error (AME) and absolute error of variation (AVE). Results indicated that soil pH in the area ranged from slightly acidic to neutral, while organic C, nitrogen, and cation exchange capacity were evenly distributed but classified as low to medium fertility. Potassium levels were consistently low across the study area. Additionally, available phosphorus varied from low to very high, and base saturation was predominantly high to very high. By overlaying the nutrient distribution maps, three soil fertility categories, very low, low, and medium, were identified. These findings offer valuable insights into nutrient management and sustainable agricultural practices in the Banggai Islands, Central Sulawesi.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the potential of vegetable crops in Lake Alani, Buko Village, South Buko District, Banggai Islands Regency and recommend the distribution of directions for the development of vegetable crops in Lake Alani, Banggai Islands Regency. This research will be carried out in Lake Alani and its surroundings located in Buko Village, South Buko District, Banggai Islands Regency. This research will be conducted in March - May 2023. Research is conducted in qualitative form to identify the quality and characteristics of land as parameters. Data on the quality and characteristics of the land are then compared (matching) with the criteria of land suitability classes that have been prepared based on the requirements for use or growing needs of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and Eggplant (Solanum melongena), where in the results of plant criteria obtained the actual land suitability class at the research site on Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and Eggplant (Solanum melongena) classified as class (S3 = marginal), then by increasing improvement efforts obtained potential land suitability classes in lettuce and eggIn general, both types of vegetable crops namely Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and Eggplant (Solanum melongena) can be developed for cultivation at the research site in Lake Alani, Buko Village, South Buko District, Banggai Islands Regency, by carrying out land processing such as liming or adding organic matter and fertilization plant crops are classified (S2 = moderately appropriate) in the development of vegetable crops.

Abstract

Kesuburan tanah merupakan indikator penting dari kapasitas tanah untuk memasok nutrisi penting bagi pertumbuhan tanaman. Mengingat perannya yang signifikan dalam keberhasilan produksi tanaman dan langkanya penelitian yang komprehensif tentang kesuburan tanah khususnya di Kecamatan Tinangkung Selatan, maka data yang tersedia sangat terbatas mengenai dampak jangka panjang yang dapat menghambat keberhasilan pengembangan tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai tingkat kesuburan tanah di berbagai penggunaan lahan di Kecamatan Tinangkung Selatan, Kabupaten Banggai Kepulauan. Sampel tanah dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan bor tanah pada kedalaman 0-30 cm, dengan tiga sampel diambil dari setiap penggunaan lahan dan kemudian dikompositkan, sehingga menghasilkan delapan titik sampel yang representatif. Unsur hara yang dianalisis yakni sifat kimia yang meliputi kandungan pH tanah, C-organik, fosfor (P), kalium (K), kapasitas tukar kation (KTK), dan kejenuhan basa (KB). Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pencocokan (matching) untuk membandingkan nilai kesuburan tanah aktual dengan kriteria yang telah ditetapkan berdasarkan penilaian kesuburan tanan, sehingga dapat menentukan status kesuburannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa enam penggunaan lahan diklasifikasikan sebagai penggunaan lahan dengan tingkat kesuburan rendah, sementara dua penggunaan lahan dikategorikan sebagai penggunaan lahan dengan tingkat kesuburan sedang. Untuk meningkatkan kesuburan tanah, beberapa strategi dapat diterapkan, termasuk praktik pengelolaan lahan yang tepat, mengedukasi petani untuk menghindari pembakaran lahan, dan memasukkan amandemen tanah seperti bahan organik atau biochar untuk meningkatkan kualitas kimia, fisika, dan biologi tanah.
