Abstract

Abstract

The problem of low conceptual understanding in physics learning is still often encountered, including in thermodynamics material. The use of technology such as Augmented Reality to support concept formation in physics education is still very limited. One solution that can be offered to overcome this problem is the development of cognitive conflict-based physics teaching materials using Augmented Reality in thermodynamics material. This study aims to analyze the practicality of cognitive conflict-based thermodynamics teaching materials. This study reports the results of a small group evaluation (practicality test) which is part of the Plomp model development stage. The research instrument used was a practicality questionnaire, which was analyzed using a percentage technique. The results of the practicality test showed an average score of 89.90%, which is included in the very practical category. Cognitive conflict-based thermodynamics teaching materials with Augmented Reality have proven to be practical for students to use, both in terms of ease of use, attractiveness, usefulness, and efficiency.

Abstract

Technological advancements play a vital role in supporting educational processes, particularly in the development of instructional materials. A needs analysis conducted at SMA N 1 Dua Koto revealed that teachers continue to face difficulties in designing technology-based teaching resources. Existing teaching materials have yet to make a significant impact on the improvement of students' knowledge and creative thinking skills. One promising approach to address this issue is the development of interactive teaching materials that integrate ethnoscience and meaningful learning principles. This study aims to evaluate the validity of interactive teaching materials on environmental pollution that are integrated with ethno-meaningful learning. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the Hannafin and Peck model. The object of the research was the interactive teaching material itself. Data were collected through instruments such as needs analysis questionnaires, validity assessments, and practicality evaluations. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, particularly Aiken’s V formula. The results of the validation process indicated an average Aiken’s V score of 0.91 which falls into the “valid” category. These findings suggest that the developed teaching materials are both valid and suitable for implementation in classroom settings, with the potential to significantly enhance students’ knowledge and creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Abstract

The mastery of 21st-century skills, particularly the 4Cs (critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration), is not yet optimally supported by conventional learning approaches. The Ethno-PBL approach is considered effective in enhancing the relevance and meaningfulness of learning by linking scientific concepts with local context and indigenous knowledge. This study employed a descriptive statistical analysis, with data collected through questionnaires administrated to teacher and student. The research revealed four main findings from the needs analysis: students' knowledge was categorized as fairly good, with an average score of 56.11, while their creative thinking skills remained low, with an average score of 30.1. The use of E-Worksheets in school learning was classified as fairly good, with a score of 41.67. The integration of ethnoscience in learning was rated as poor, with a score of 36.25. The integration of the problem-based learning (PBL) model was considered fairly good, with a score of 41.3. These results indicate that the development of an Ethno-PBL integrated E-Worksheet is urgently needed by both teachers and students to improve creative thinking skills.
