Abstract

Abstract: Aviation safety is a crucial aspect of airport operations, especially in airside areas that are congested by Ground Support Equipment (GSE) vehicle activities. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of monitoring GSE movements in zone 3 of the Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport Makassar airside and evaluate the potential for implementing a traffic light system as a solution to improve operational safety. Using descriptive qualitative methods, data was collected through direct observation, interviews with Apron Movement Control (AMC) personnel, and documentation studies. The findings show that surveillance that relies on CCTV and radio coordination has not been able to effectively prevent operational violations, especially in the zone 3 blind spot area. This condition is exacerbated by GSE congestion, limited AMC personnel, and low compliance with SOPs. The implementation of a traffic light system at critical service road points has proven to improve visibility, visually clarify operational instructions, reduce potential incidents due to jet blast, and ease the workload of AMC officers. The system also supports the implementation of the Safety management system (SMS) by providing technical controls that strengthen the safety culture in the airport environment. Therefore, the integration of traffic light systems as GSE traffic control aids is recommended to improve airside safety and operational efficiency. Keyword: Ground Support Equipment, Service Road, Aviation Safety, Apron Movement Control, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport Makassar. Abstrak: Keselamatan penerbangan merupakan aspek krusial dalam operasional bandar udara, khususnya di area sisi udara yang padat oleh aktivitas kendaraan Ground Support Equipment (GSE). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pengawasan pergerakan GSE di zona 3 sisi udara Bandar Udara Internasional Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar serta mengevaluasi potensi penerapan sistem traffic light sebagai solusi peningkatan keselamatan operasional. Menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara dengan personel Apron Movement Control (AMC), dan studi dokumentasi. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa pengawasan yang bergantung pada CCTV dan koordinasi radio belum mampu mencegah pelanggaran operasional secara efektif, terutama di area blind spot zona 3. Kondisi ini diperparah oleh kepadatan GSE, terbatasnya personel AMC, dan rendahnya kepatuhan terhadap SOP. Penerapan sistem traffic light di titik-titik kritis service road terbukti dapat meningkatkan visibilitas, memperjelas instruksi operasional secara visual, mengurangi potensi insiden akibat jet blast, serta meringankan beban kerja petugas AMC. Sistem ini juga mendukung penerapan Safety management system (SMS) dengan menyediakan kontrol teknis yang memperkuat budaya keselamatan di lingkungan bandar udara. Oleh karena itu, integrasi sistem traffic light sebagai alat bantu pengendali lalu lintas GSE direkomendasikan untuk meningkatkan keselamatan dan efisiensi operasional di sisi udara.  Kata kunci: Ground Support Equipment, Service Road, Keselamatan Penerbangan, Apron Movement Control, Bandar Udara Internasional Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar.

Abstract

Information media within the airport environment play a crucial role in educating passengers about baggage regulations, thereby supporting aviation safety and security. However, the effectiveness of such media still requires evaluation, particularly at Minangkabau International Airport. This study aims to analyze the extent to which information media functions as an educational tool for passengers. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative methods through observation and interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS software through validity and reliability tests, simple linear regression, and hypothesis testing. The results show that information media have a significant influence on passengers' understanding of baggage regulations, indicated by a β (beta) value of 0.943 and a significance level of p < 0.001. Qualitative findings suggest that the current information media is still suboptimal due to its lack of visual appeal, poor placement, and outdated content. Passengers were more responsive to interactive media such as educational videos and digital infographics. Therefore, a more effective communication strategy is needed by utilizing digital media that is engaging, visual, and easily accessible. This study is expected to serve as a reference in the development of more efficient and educational information media within the airport environment.

Abstract

The increase in the number of passengers at Sultan Thaha Airport has triggered the need for faster and more accurate information services. One of the digital information systems used is the Flight Information Display System (FIDS), which is managed through an internal website by information officers. This research aims to analyze the factors that cause FIDS to not provide maximum service, identify features that need to be added, and examine the integration of Flight Information Display System (FIDS) with Public Address System (PAS) and Automatic Announcement System (AAS). This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, documentation, and interviews. The results showed that the main obstacles lie in data input errors, delays in information updates, less legible FIDS displays, and unstrategic screen locations. In addition, the absence of integration between FIDS and PAS makes information not delivered simultaneously. In conclusion, the FIDS system needs to be improved through officer training, development of real-time dashboard features, and automatic integration with PAS and AAS to improve information services that are fast, accurate, and user-friendly.

Abstract

Risiko wildlife hazard di bandar udara, khususnya bird strike, merupakan ancaman serius terhadap keselamatan penerbangan yang semakin meningkat seiring urbanisasi dan perubahan ekosistem sekitar bandar udara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tantangan dalam pengelolaan bahaya satwa liar serta mengevaluasi strategi mitigasi berbasis teknologi dan pengelolaan habitat. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data yang dilakukan melalui studi pustaka dan analisis dokumen dari berbagai studi kasus di Indonesia dan luar negeri. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan risiko satwa liar belum optimal akibat keterbatasan sumber daya manusia, teknologi, dan koordinasi antarunit. Teknologi seperti radar ornithologi dan GIS terbukti membantu pemetaan zona risiko, sementara pengelolaan vegetasi dan sumber air memainkan peran penting dalam mengurangi daya tarik habitat. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan kebijakan keselamatan penerbangan yang adaptif dan berbasis ekologi. Kesimpulan menekankan perlunya integrasi strategi teknologi dan habitat, peningkatan kapasitas kelembagaan, serta penelitian lebih lanjut dengan pendekatan lapangan dan partisipatif untuk memperkaya pemahaman dan efektivitas mitigasi di berbagai konteks.
