Abstract

Science learning in Early Childhood Education (ECE) serves as a crucial foundation for developing children’s critical thinking skills and curiosity. However, its implementation often encounters challenges related to topic selection, teaching methods, and limited resources. This study aims to analyze the science activities being taught, the learning resources used, and the challenges faced by ECE teachers in Bandung City and Bandung Regency. Using a multi-case study approach, the research involved classroom observations and in-depth interviews conducted in 17 ECE institutions, with data analyzed thematically. Findings indicate that the most commonly taught science topics are colors and water, delivered through simple experiments using physical materials. In contrast, complex concepts such as human anatomy and engineering are rarely addressed due to teachers' limited understanding and the lack of instructional media. Key challenges include low levels of teacher scientific literacy, inadequate facilities, and the developmental characteristics of young learners that require adaptive approaches. These findings highlight the need for practice-based teacher training, the development of innovative learning media, and multi-stakeholder collaboration to support effective science instruction. This study offers practical contributions for educators, policymakers, and researchers in designing higher-quality and more sustainable science learning strategies for early childhood education.

Abstract

The research was conducted to evaluate the facilities and infrastructure of the Natural Sciences (Science) laboratory at SMA Edu Global School Bandung. The method used is an evaluative approach with a quantitative framework, where data collection was carried out through observation, data recording, and brief interviews. The focus of this research is on the importance of the IPA laboratory in supporting effective and quality learning processes. This study assesses the conformity of the laboratory's facilities and infrastructure with the standards set forth in Permendikbud No. 8/2018. The evaluation results indicate that although some aspects have met the standards, there are deficiencies in the completeness of tools and facilities necessary for student practical activities, such as incomplete equipment and uncomfortable workspace. The conclusion of this study recommends the need for improvements and development of the IPA laboratory facilities and infrastructure to enhance the quality of education at SMA Edu Global School, enabling students to learn optimally and effectively. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi sarana dan prasarana laboratorium Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) di SMA Edu Global School Bandung. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode evaluatif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, di mana pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, pendataan, dan wawancara singkat. Fokus penelitian ini adalah pada pentingnya laboratorium IPA dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran yang efektif dan berkualitas. Penelitian ini menilai kesesuaian sarana dan prasarana laboratorium dengan standar yang ditetapkan dalam Permendikbud No. 8/2018. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa meskipun beberapa aspek telah memenuhi standar, terdapat kekurangan dalam kelengkapan alat dan fasilitas yang diperlukan untuk kegiatan praktikum siswa, seperti peralatan yang tidak lengkap dan ruang kerja yang kurang nyaman. Simpulan dari penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya perbaikan dan pengembangan sarana serta prasarana laboratorium IPA agar dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di SMA Edu Global School, sehingga siswa dapat belajar secara optimal dan efektif.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat Desa Pijeran Kecamatan Siman dalam mengelola susu kedelai yang di inovasi menjadi soya puding kedelai. Pengelolaan susu kedelai menjadi puding bertujuan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan gizi masyarajat Desa Pijeran khususnya anak-anak agar terhindar dari masalah gizi salah satunya adalah stunting. Pemilihan inovasi susu kedelai menjadi soya puding didasarkan karena di desa Pijeran terdapat pelaku UMKM susu kedelai namun belum ada inovasi terkait produk susu kedelai tersebut. Kegiatan pengolahan inovasi susu kedelai diawali dengan penyampaian materi tentang gizi kemudian dilanjutkan dengan metode pengolahan susu kedelai menjadi soya puding dan mempraktikkan cara pengolahannya. Karena pentingnya gizi bagi kehidupan manusia maka program pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Desa Pijeran yang dilakukan oleh tim KKN kelompok 8 Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. Soya puding dari susu kedelai yang dapat dinikmati oleh masyarakat desa Pijeran setiap hari dan diharapkan dapat menjadi ide bisnis untuk BUMDES Pijeran.

Abstract

Cassava leaves (Manihot Esculanta Crantz) are widely used by the community as a vegetable, however they contain high levels of cyanide acid (HCN), for this reason they need to be processed properly and correctly. This research aims to determine the processing process to reduce cyanide acid (HCN) levels in cassava leaves (Manihot Esculanta Crantz). This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a Pre-Post Test Control Design design by immersing in NaCl solution using a concentration of 2% and a boiling process for 40 minutes and replication 3 times. The data obtained based on the results of observations during experiments were then presented in written and tabular form and then analyzed descriptively regarding the reduction in cyanide acid (HCN) levels in cassava leaves (Manihot Esculanta Crantz). The results of the research showed that before treatment, the HCN level was found to be 0.00156 mg/kg, whereas after treatment, namely soaking with 2% NaCl solution, the average result was 0.00725 mg/kg with a decrease of 53.5% and for boiling it was 0.00181 mg/kg with a reduction of 88.3%. The conclusion of this research is that the boiling process has a greater effect on reducing cyanide acid (HCN) levels in cassava leaves (Manihot Esculanta Crantz) compared to the soaking process with NaCl solution. It is recommended to apply cassava leaf processing using the boiling method to reduce HCN levels
