Abstract

ABSTRACTAvicennia marina leaf extract is known to suppress the activity of Vibrio spp. using solvent klorform and methanol. Therefore, the authors conducted a further study using different solvents. This research interest determine the ability of extracts of A. marina in suppressing the activity of Vibrio spp. isolated from mud crab (Scylla serrata). A. Marina leaf take in Pantai Amal Lama, The process of extraction, isolation and testing of clear zone performed at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Borneo Tarakan. Stages of research are: manufacture A. marina leaf extract, isolation, culture of Vibrio spp., and data analysis. The study consisted of 6 treatments, blank control, negative control, positive control, A. marina leaf extract concentration of 15%, 25% and 35%, A. marina leaf extract in each treatment were significantly different (P <0.05). Diameter of clear zone produced at a concentration of 15% obtained an average value of 12.25 ± 5.37 mm, at a concentration of 25% 24.4 ± 1.41 mm, at a concentration of 35% 30.37 ± 0.95 mm. While the positive control 42.5 ± 0:00 mm. But the blank control and negative controls do not form clear zones. Based on these results it can be concluded that there are indications A. marina leaf extract in suppressing the activity of Vibrio spp. were tested in vitro.Keywords: Leaf of A. marina, Vibrio spp., Mangrove crabs (Scylla serrata),                 in Vitro

Abstract

Information on morphological characters is very important to know because it became the basis for the conventional cross-breeding to obtain superior quality seeds. Sampling was done by using Purposive Random Sampling at five stations namely Kota Tarakan, Ketapang, Takalar, Trenggalek and Demak. Based on the results Meretrix spp. as many as 84 individuals were grouped into 12 variations of hues. Specimens obtained grouped into three species, namely M. meretrix has the characteristics of a thick shell structure, strong and shiny. The size of the inner shells posterior margin is longer than the anterior margin. Margin dorsoposterior flat and angle ventroposterior form a triangle. Dorsoanterior margin slightly concave and ventroanterior corner in a half ellipse; Meretrix lusoria have characteristics size inner shells posterior margin is longer than the anterior margin. Margin dorsoposterior flat and angle ventroposterior form a triangle. Dorsoanterior margin slightly concave and ventroanterior corner in a half ellipse; Meretrix sp. has characteristics similar to M. meretrix overall but there are differences that have color variations on the internal shell (black-purple), it is different with the character of the Genus Meretrix Keywords : Meretrix meretrix, Meretrix lusoria, Clams Morphological.

Abstract

Aegiceras corniculatum is mangrove vegetation that is widely spread in the mangrove area in Karang Rejo, Tarakan City and it has the potential for the development of drugs from natural ingredients from tropical sea coasts. The purpose of this study was to determine the water content, bioactive compounds, and antioxidant activity of A. corniculatum. The methods used were the analysis of water content, analysis of bioactive compounds using the phytochemical method, and analysis of antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. This study showed the percentage of moisture or water content in the leaf and fruit extracts of A. corniculatum were 1.83% and 1.95%, respectively. The bioactive compounds detected in the leaf and fruit extracts came from flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, phenol hydroquinone, and saponins. The antioxidant analysis showed that the fruit and leaf crude extracts had an antioxidant activity with IC50 values were        129.7 ppm and 365.8 ppm, respectively.

Abstract

Fortifikasi tepung tulang bandeng meningkatkan nilai proksimat, kalsium, dan fosfor pada crackersAbstractCalcium and phosphorus are important elements needed for development and growth. Milkfish is known to have high calcium and phosphorus content. The aim of study was to determine the proximate, and the content of calcium and phosphorus in crackers fortification with milkfish bone flour. Cracker fortification with milkfish bone flour consists of four treatments were presto, steamed, fresh and control. Proximate analysis includes water, ash, fat, protein and carbohydrates using the method (AOAC 2005) and analysis of phosphorus and calcium content using the AAS method. Calcium and phosphorus content bone flour crackers range respectively 88916-119730 mg/kg and 2.2 mg/kg – 7.4 mg/kg. Moisture content 12.26 – 14.42%, ash content 16.12 – 21.67%, protein 0.626- 7.304%, fat 4.0 – 4.8% and carbohydrates 37.64 – 41.88%. Fortification of milkfish flour increases the proximate, calcium, and phosphorus value in crackers.
