Abstract

This study presents the seismic-resistant structural design of a 3-storey guest house with a roof garden, located in Surabaya, Indonesia, an area classified as Earthquake Zone 6. The building is designed using a Special Moment Resisting Frame System (SMRFS) as per SNI 1726:2019, which is appropriate for high seismic risk areas. The equivalent static lateral force method is employed for seismic analysis. Structural modeling and upper-structure design are performed using ETABS, while sub-structure components such as pile caps and foundations are analyzed manually and supported by PCA Column software. The structural elements are designed according to Indonesian codes, including SNI 2847:2019 for reinforced concrete, SNI 1727:2020 for minimum loads, and SNI 2052:2017 for steel reinforcement. The final design yields column dimensions ranging from 200×400 mm to 600×600 mm and beam dimensions from 250×400 mm to 350×700 mm, with slab thicknesses of 120 mm and 150 mm. The results confirm that the structure meets strength, stiffness, and ductility requirements. This research ensures compliance with national standards while enhancing structural safety in high seismic zones.

Abstract

The increase in waste from construction and daily human activities has raised environmental concerns, particularly the disposal of non-biodegradable materials such as glass and granite. This study investigates the potential use of glass bottle waste and granite waste as partial substitutes for coarse aggregates in normal concrete. The objective is to evaluate their influence on the compressive strength of concrete with a target strength of 20 MPa. Experimental tests were conducted using cylindrical specimens (15 cm × 30 cm), incorporating 3% glass waste and varying granite waste contents (3%, 5%, 8%, and 10%). A total of 45 specimens were tested at curing ages of 7, 14, and 28 days. The results show that the highest compressive strength of 25.20 MPa was achieved with 3% glass and 3% granite waste, surpassing the design strength. However, increasing granite content beyond 3% led to a gradual strength reduction. The findings indicate that limited substitution of both wastes is feasible without compromising structural performance. Future research should optimize mix design parameters to improve efficiency and explore higher substitution levels for environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Beban Carry Idler & Return Idler meningkat sebesar 37,83%, berdasarkan perhitungan Helix 2000 TPH.

Abstract

As the height of a structure supported by concrete increases, it demands a higher quality of concrete. However, increasing the use of concrete structures makes the materials that compose the concrete more expensive. In this study, corn stalk ash, which contains silica and has pozzolanic properties, was used to partially replace cement. Meanwhile, powdered snail shell can be assumed to act as a filler to fill the voids between aggregate particles. The study was conducted by replacing 7% of the cement weight with corn stalk ash and adding varying amounts of snail shell powder at 0.3%, 0.5%, 0.7%, and 0.9% of the cement content in the concrete mix for ages of 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days. The goal was to determine its effect on the concrete's density, compressive strength, and water absorption. The results of the study concluded that substituting 7% corn stalk ash and 0.3% snail shell powder after 28 days could increase compressive strength by +10.8%, reduce the density by -2.8%, indicating that the concrete becomes lighter, and reduce water absorption by -0.4%, indicating that the concrete becomes denser, which is beneficial for reinforced concrete as it protects the reinforcement from water and harmful substances. However, this substitution and addition led to a decrease in the slump value, affecting workability and making the concrete more difficult to mold.

Abstract

The increasing demand for concrete in construction has encouraged the exploration of sustainable materials to reduce the consumption of natural resources and utilize construction waste. Roof tile waste has potential as a partial substitute for coarse aggregate, while chemical admixtures such as Fosroc Conplast WP421 can improve concrete workability and performance. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of roof tile waste and Fosroc Conplast WP421 on the workability and compressive strength of concrete. An experimental laboratory method was employed using cylindrical concrete specimens with a diameter of 150 mm and a height of 300 mm. Fosroc Conplast WP421 was added at 1.3% of cement weight, while roof tile waste was used as a 30% replacement for coarse aggregate. Slump tests and compressive strength tests were conducted at curing ages of 7, 14, and 28 days. The results indicated that the addition of Fosroc Conplast WP421 increased the slump value from 13.5 cm in normal concrete to 18.0 cm in concrete containing 30% roof tile waste. The highest compressive strength at 28 days was obtained by concrete containing 1.3% Fosroc Conplast WP421 without roof tile waste, reaching 39.65 MPa, while the mixture with 30% roof tile waste achieved 37.73 MPa. It can be concluded that Fosroc Conplast WP421 improved concrete workability and maintained satisfactory compressive strength. Further studies are recommended to investigate different replacement ratios and long-term durability performance. The findings contribute to the development of more sustainable concrete materials through waste utilization.

Abstract

Wood management activities that are often encountered, as in wood cutting activities in the manufacture of wooden handicrafts, basically after this activity can become a problem, namely sawdust waste, where this waste if left for so long will be a big problem and have an impact on the environment. One solution that can be used for the problem of sawdust waste is to mix this sawdust waste into a concrete mixture. This sawdust waste can be used in concrete mixtures because of the cellulose content in sawdust waste which can affect the compressive strength value with different concrete treatment methods (curing) and slump of concrete. In this research included into experimental research with wood used is wood kamper samarinda, from the leftover cutting of wood frames from craftsman wood UD. kembang Arum in Bekasi, West Java.  Using sawdust waste with a size that passes through sieve No.4 (passes through a 4.75 mm) with variaes addition of 0 kg/m3 , 1 kg/m3  dan 1,5 kg/m3, as well as testing with a concrete mixture that has a mix design of 35 MPa f'c which is inserted into the test object in the form of a cylinder with a diameter and height of 15 and 30 cm which is then for the treatment method done by three different methods. The addition of saw dust waste with a varies of 1 kg/m3  dan 1,5 kg/m3   to the concrete mixture makes the slump and workability values decrease, but the slump value obtained is still in accordance with slump value plan. and for compressive strength values with an addition variation of 1 kg / m3 and 1.5 kg / m3 , The compressive strength value changes from the normal compressive strength value of concrete and the effect of the treatment method also affects the compressive strength value obtained.
