Abstract

This study investigates the properties of substandard limestone aggregates sourced from a quarry in Meleura Village, Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, and explores their potential use in concrete applications. The aggregates were characterized using X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to assess their chemical composition, crystalline phases, and microstructural features. The XRF analysis revealed significant silica content, while XRD identified calcite, quartz, and dolomite as the primary phases. SEM analysis showed notable porosity and microcracks, indicating potential weaknesses. Despite these challenges, the study suggests that with appropriate treatments, such as the use of supplementary cementitious materials, these aggregates could be effectively utilized in concrete, contributing to sustainable construction practices. The findings underscore the importance of targeted reinforcement strategies to enhance aggregate performance and recommend further research on long-term durability and environmental impacts.

Abstract

Desa Sandey, Kecamatan Angata, Konawe Selatan memiliki potensi limbah sekam padi mencapai 390 ton per tahun yang belum dimanfaatkan optimal. Di sisi lain, UMKM "Zidan Roster" sebagai pengrajin batako menghadapi permasalahan biaya produksi tinggi (Rp 900.000/truk material konvensional) dan kualitas produk yang belum memenuhi standar SNI. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah mentransfer teknologi batako interlock berbasis abu sekam padi untuk meningkatkan efisiensi ekonomi dan mengatasi permasalahan lingkungan. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan "Technology Transfer and Community Empowerment" melalui lima tahap: persiapan dan asesmen baseline, uji coba laboratorium, transfer teknologi dan implementasi, evaluasi dan pengujian produk, serta konsolidasi dan keberlanjutan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terdahulu, formula optimal yang digunakan adalah: semen 30%, pasir 35%, abu sekam padi 35%, dengan faktor air semen (fas) 0,5. Hasil menunjukkan produk batako interlock memenuhi standar SNI dengan kuat tekan 26,5 kg/cm² dan penyerapan air 25%. Monitoring dan evaluasi menunjukkan 90% mitra menguasai keterampilan produksi BATASIK (Batako Abu Sekam Interlock). Dampak ekonomi berupa efisiensi biaya produksi 30-40% dan peningkatan pendapatan 25-30%. Dampak lingkungan mencakup utilisasi limbah sekam padi dan pengurangan emisi CO₂. Program ini berhasil menciptakan model pemberdayaan masyarakat berkelanjutan melalui inovasi teknologi ramah lingkungan.
