Abstract

Hazard identification and risk assessment in the Farisna workshop are classified based on the work performed. The use of machinery, equipment, supporting materials, workshop environment, and mechanical work procedures can be a source of potential hazards for workers in the workshop, therefore it is necessary to evaluate health in the Farisna workshop to prevent the risk of harm. This study aims to determine the planning and evaluation of occupational health in the engineering sector in the Farisna workshop. This research method is descriptive qualitative. Using total sampling technique. Data collection by observation with research instruments using JSA or Job Safety forms. The results of this study indicate that of the 7 work activities in the workshop there are 5 activities with medium or medium risk, and there are 2 high risk or high. Medium risks such as being crushed and crushed by heat stress montors, heat disorders, slipping and skin irritation, skin blisters, scratches and punctures, back pain. While the high risk of work activities in the workshop is exposed to explosions, burns, skin irritation, and respiratory problems. Prevention to avoid the risk of work in the workshop should be when working using PPE, doing work carefully, and putting tools in place, and providing fire extinguishers to prevent accidents.

Abstract

Cardiorespiratory fitness refers to the integrated ability of the cardiovascular system with the respiratory system to provide oxygen to body tissues and is measured through VO₂max parameters. This variable is related to gender, abdominal circumference, and Body Mass Index (BMI). This cross-sectional study was analytical and involved 43 students as subjects selected by purposive sampling technique. Data were analysed descriptively and analytically using frequency distribution and chi-square test. The majority of the subjects were female (72%), with a mean abdominal circumference of 78.84 cm and included low risk (53%), a mean BMI of 24.88 and included normal (56%), and a mean VO2 max of 11:02 including a very poor category (72%). Correlation tests of gender, abdominal circumference, and BMI with VO2max showed p values of (p=0.000); (p=0.019) and (p=0.645) respectively, which means that there are differences in cardiorespiratory fitness between men and women; there is a statistically significant relationship between abdominal circumference and VO2max level and there is no statistically significant relationship between BMI and VO2max level.  Exploration of the biological mechanisms behind gender disparities and the influence of body fat distribution on VO₂max needs to be studied longitudinally, in addition to testing the effectiveness of integrated interventions in improving the aerobic capacity of at-risk populations..

Abstract

Household waste management in Kalisegoro Village, Gunungpati District, Semarang remains a serious challenge that affects both the environment and public health. The lack of community awareness in waste sorting and limited sanitation infrastructure have led to soil and water pollution. This community service program aimed to improve residents' knowledge and skills in managing household waste independently through training in simple compost production. The implementation method included identification and problem analysis, socialization and education, training and practical demonstrations, implementation and mentoring, as well as program evaluation and sustainability. The program was conducted on August 5, 2025, involving 18 participants, the majority of whom were housewives. The materials covered the dangers of poorly managed household waste, alternatives for managing organic household waste through simple compost production, and the benefits of compost for the environment and household economy. Evaluation results showed an increase in participants' average knowledge scores from 7.88 to 8.75, with 37.5% of participants experiencing score increases, 43.8% maintaining their scores, and 18.7% experiencing score decreases. Participants were able to practice composting independently and expressed commitment to applying it in their households and sharing knowledge with other residents. This program successfully enhanced the community's capacity in managing organic household waste and created a potential multiplier effect through peer-to-peer learning. Therefore, the activity supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6 and 11, namely clean water and sanitation, and sustainable cities and communities.
