Abstract

Stunting is defined as disturbances in growth and development that occur in children as a result of poor nutrition, recurrent infections or inadequate psychosocial stimulation. The government program that is in line with stunting prevention is through Gemarikan (Gemar Eating Fish) which is aimed at all groups from children to adults with aim to increase fish consumption to support the body's immune system and as an important source of animal protein for society. Elementary age is the right age to implement good habits, including getting used to eating nutritious food. This socialization aims to provide education to grade 3 elementary school students about the importance of eating fish so that they understand its benefits and start getting used to consuming fish in their daily lives. Community service was carried out using a qualitative approach to grade 3 students at SDN 3 Mrican, Kediri, as many as 16 students in one class. The implementation of community service will be carried out on Monday, September 30 2024. The activity procedure is to carry out interactive dialogues and presentations as well as two-way questions and answers to the audience using presentation slides and interesting videos. The results of the analysis of observations of service activities were then processed and presented in the form of percentages regarding several parameters, namely participant enthusiasm (3rd grade students at SDN 3 Mrican) of 62.5%, understanding of 100% and audience/student follow-up from the activities carried out of 68.75%.ABSTRAKStunting pengertian gangguan pada pertumbuhan maupun perkembangan yang terjadi pada anak sebagai akibat dari gizi buruk, infeksi berulang maupun stimulasi psikososial yang tidak memadai. Program pemerintah yang selaras dengan pencegahan stunting adalah melalui Gemarikan (Gemar Makan Ikan) yang ditujukan pada semua kalangan mulai dari anak-anak hingga dewasa dalam rangka meningkatkan konsumsi ikan untuk mendukung daya tahan tubuh dan sebagai sumber protein hewani penting bagi masyarakat. Usia dasar adalah usia yang tepat untuk menerapkan kebiasaan baik termasuk membiasakan makan makanan bergizi. Sosialisasi ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi kepada siswa kelas 3 SD tentang pentingnya makan ikan agar mereka memahami manfaatnya dan mulai membiasakan konsumsi ikan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif kepada siswa kelas 3 SDN 3 Mrican, Kediri sebanyak 16 siswa dalam satu kelas. Pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan pada Senin, 30 September 2024. Prosedur kegiatan adalah dengan melakukan dialog interaktif dan presentasi serta tanya jawab dua arah kepada audience menggunakan slide presentasi dan video yang menarik. Hasil analisis observasi kegiatan pengabdian ini kemudian diolah dan disajikan dalam bentuk presentase mengenai beberapa parameter yakni antusiasme peserta (siswa kelas 3 SDN 3 Mrican) sebesar 62,5%, pemahaman sebesar 100% dan tindak lanjut audience/siswa dari kegiatan yang dilakukan sebesar 68,75%.

Abstract

Indonesia is exporting less prawns and tuna to the United States in 2021–2023. An analytical investigation on the competitiveness of Indonesian prawn and tuna products supplied to destination nations like the USA is required in light of these facts. The objective of this study is to examine the growth of Indonesian prawn and tuna exports to the US as well as their competitiveness in this market. This study examines Indonesian prawn and tuna commodities' export competitiveness in the US market from 2012 to 2022. Pustaka, UN Comtrade, Trademap, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia (KKP RI) are the sources of the data. The Constant Market Share (CMS) and Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) approaches are the analytical techniques employed in this study. The results show that the trend of leading export commodities, one of which is still dominated by shrimp. Shrimp is the main commodity with export volume increasing significantly from 197.4 million (kg) in 2018 to 250.7 million (kg) in 2021 but experiencing a decline in 2022. The trade value of American shrimp, shrimp consists of large shrimp cold air (0306.16) and tiger prawns (0306.17). The trade value of American tuna, tuna consists of fresh tuna, frozen tuna and tuna fillet. Fresh tuna consists of yellowfin tuna (0302.32) and 0302.34 bigeye tuna. Frozen tuna consists of longfin tuna/albacore (0303.41), yellowfin tuna (0303.42), skipjack tuna (0303.43) and southern bluefin tuna (0303.46); Tuna fillet consists of skipjack tuna (0304.87). The competitiveness of tuna and shrimp in the United States has strong competitiveness.

Abstract

Kediri Regency is a non-coastal area, so only a few school students know about Aquatic Invertebrates. Generally, they only know through pictures or electronic information. The purpose of this activity is to increase literacy by directly introducing students to the diversity of marine biota (aquatic invertebrates) in order to foster environmental awareness from an early age. The methods used include interactive lectures, observations of original specimens, and evaluation of understanding through educational games. The activity was carried out on November 9, 2024 and was attended by 37 students in grades 4-6. This activity showcased various types of aquatic invertebrates from the Phylum Mollusca, Phylum Arthropoda, Phylum Coelenterata and Phylum Echinodermata. The results of observations showed that students were enthusiastic and showed an increase in understanding with a success rate of more than 90% in oral evaluations. This program has proven effective in building students' interest in science and environmental conservation, especially related to fisheries (aquatic invertebrates). This activity has a positive impact on strengthening contextual-based education and can be replicated in other non-coastal areas.ABSTRAKWilayah Kabupaten Kediri merupakan daerah non-pesisir, sehingga hanya sedikit siswa sekolah yang mengenal hewan Avertebrata Air. Umumnya mereka hanya mengetahui melalui gambar atau informasi secara elektronik. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan literasi dengan mengenalkan secara langsung kepada siswa mengenai keanekaragaman biota laut (avertebrata air) guna menumbuhkan kesadaran terhadap lingkungan sejak dini. Metode yang digunakan meliputi ceramah interaktif, pengamatan spesimen asli, serta evaluasi pemahaman melalui permainan edukatif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 9 November 2024 dan diikuti oleh 37 siswa kelas 4–6. Kegiatan ini memamerkan aneka macam hewan avertebrata air dari Phylum Molusca, Phylum Arthropoda, Phylum Coelenterata dan Phylum Echinodermata. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa siswa antusias dan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dengan tingkat keberhasilan lebih dari 90% pada evaluasi lisan. Program ini terbukti efektif dalam membangun ketertarikan siswa terhadap sains dan pelestarian lingkungan, khusunya terkait perikanan (avertebrata air). Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap penguatan pendidikan berbasis kontekstual dan dapat direplikasi di daerah non-pesisir lainnya.

Abstract

Budidaya ikan dalam ember (budikdamber) merupakan integrasi budidaya ikan dengan tanaman. Masukan pakan dan feses dalam budidaya dapat menurunkan kualitas air. Bakteri asam laktat (BAL) dapat digunakan sebagai probiotik dalam budidaya ikan yang diketahui mampu berperan dalam memperbaiki kualitas air, namun perlu diteliti metode pengaplikasian BAL yang paling optimal untuk menurunkan bahan organik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis pengaruh metode pengaplikasian BAL terhadap kadar bahan organik air serta pertumbuhan ikan lele pada sistem budikdamber. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan bulan Mei-Juni 2025 selama 28 hari. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen RAL, terdiri dari 3 perlakuan yaitu pengaplikasian BAL melalui pakan (A), pengaplikasian BAL melalui air (B) dan pengaplikasian BAL melalui pakan dan air (C) dan 1 kontrol (K) dengan 3 ulangan. Parameter utama yang diamati adalah bahan organik dan pertumbuhan ikan, serta terdapat parameter pendukung yaitu suhu, pH dan oksigen terlarut. Hasil dari penelitian ini didapatkan kadar bahan organik rata-rata dari masing-masing perlakuan yaitu perlakuan A sebesar 31.3 mg/L, perlakuan B sebesar 28.4 mg/L, perlakuan C sebesar 21.6 mg/L dan perlakuan kontrol sebesar 26.3 mg/L. Pertumbuhan mutlak ikan didapatkan hasil 2.53 (A), 2.92 (B), 3.15 (C) dan 2.42 (K). Pertumbuhan relatif ikan didapatkan hasil 104.11 (A), 120.17 (B), 129.24 (C) dan 98.62 (K), sehingga perlakuan terbaik yaitu pada perlakuan C (kombinasi pakan dan air). Parameter kualitas air suhu, pH, dan oksigen terlarut (DO) optimal untuk budidaya ikan lele kecuali DO karena < 3 mg/L, tergolong rendah untuk budidaya. Aplikasi bakteri asam laktat (BAL) pada sistem budikdamber terbukti mampu menurunkan kadar bahan organik dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan ikan lele, dengan hasil terbaik pada perlakuan kombinasi melalui pakan dan air. BAL dapat direkomendasikan sebagai strategi sederhana untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan menjaga keberlanjutan budidaya ikan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the supply chain system in catfish farming in Kediri, focusing on three main aspects: the flow of goods, financial flow, and information flow. It also aims to identify the actors involved in the supply chain and determine the appropriate supply chain model. This research was conducted from March to July 2025 among four catfish farmers in Kediri city and regency. The method used is a case study approach with interviews with four business actors consisting of catfish breeders and growers. The data analysis used exploratory descriptive analysis, explaining the actors involved in the supply chain, the flow of goods, the flow of money, and the flow of information in the form of graphs, tables, and figures. The results show that the flow of goods is dominated by an informal distribution network through middlemen, with distribution patterns varying between business actors depending on the type of business. With minimal intervention from the credit system and a high degree of trust between actors, financial flow occurs easily through cash and transfer channels.  Without written contracts, information is communicated directly between people, making it less formal yet more flexible.  The resulting supply chain model is a trust-based supply chain in which players cooperation is primarily driven by their social relationships.  In order to increase the effectiveness, sustainability, and transparency of the supply chain for catfish farming in Kediri, this study suggests that institutional assistance and technology integration are necessary.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the nutritional value and heavy metal lead (Pb) content in suckermouth catfish (Pterygoplichthys sp.) egg meal as a candidate feed additive in fish feed. The fish eggs were obtained from fishermen's catches in public waters in East Java, then cleaned, dried, and processed into meal for analysis. The proximate parameters tested included protein, fat, crude fiber, and ash content using the AOAC standard method, while Pb content was analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The results showed that suckermouth catfish egg meal had the following nutritional composition: protein 39.25±0.02%, fat 9.19±0.01%, crude fiber 2.36±0.03%, and ash 4.95±0.02%. This nutritional profile indicates that suckermouth catfish eggs are a high source of animal protein and have a low fiber content, thus having the potential to improve feed quality through the addition of essential amino acids and energy. Heavy metal Pb content was not detected within the sensitivity limits of the instrument, thus this product meets the safety aspects of feed ingredients related to heavy metal contamination. Overall, the results of this study indicate that suckermouth catfish egg meal has competitive nutritional value compared to several conventional feed ingredients and is safe from Pb contamination. Thus, this ingredient has the potential to be developed as an alternative feed additive in fish feed formulations.

Abstract

The use of simple filter media can reduce organic waste materials in Nile tilapia aquaculture systems. The performance of biofilters is strongly influenced by the type of media used, depending on their characteristics in supporting biofilm formation. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of bioball and pumice as biofilter media on water quality and the growth performance of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in a recirculating aquaculture system. The research was conducted from October to November 2024 at the Integrated Farming Laboratory, PSDKU Universitas Brawijaya Kediri, using an experimental method. Two treatments were applied, namely bioball (P1) and pumice (P2), with observations on water quality parameters including temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), Total Organic Matter (TOM), alkalinity, ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate, as well as fish growth parameters including absolute growth, specific growth rate (SGR), and survival rate (SR). Data were analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test, while alkalinity, absolute growth, and survival rate were analyzed using the non-parametric Mann–Whitney U test. The results showed that the use of biofilter media did not have a significant effect (p>0.05) on all water quality parameters, but showed a significant difference in absolute growth. Pumice media demonstrated better performance in increasing DO (5.6–10.3 mg/L) and reducing organic matter with a removal efficiency of 33–70% and ammonia up to 94%. In terms of growth performance, the pumice treatment produced higher values of absolute growth (2.52 ± 0.26 g), SGR (2.53 ± 0.18%/day), and SR (86.7 ± 4.7%) compared to bioball. Therefore, pumice has the potential to be recommended as a promising biofilter medium for improving water quality and growth performance of Nile tilapia in recirculating aquaculture systems.

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Blaru, Kecamatan Badas, Kabupaten Kediri, dengan tujuan meningkatkan kapasitas pembudidaya ikan melalui pelatihan aplikasi probiotik rabal pada pakan dan pengelolaan kualitas air. Metode kegiatan meliputi penyampaian materi, praktik lapangan, serta evaluasi pengetahuan peserta melalui kuisioner pra dan pasca pelatihan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada aspek pengetahuan. Pemahaman peserta mengenai pengaplikasian probiotik rabal pada pakan meningkat dari 61,11% menjadi 100%, sedangkan pada pengelolaan kualitas air meningkat dari 5,56% menjadi 100%. Profil peserta didominasi oleh laki-laki usia produktif dengan latar pendidikan menengah serta pengalaman budidaya lebih dari tiga tahun. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berbasis praktik lapangan ini efektif dalam mentransfer pengetahuan dan teknologi tepat guna kepada masyarakat.
