Abstract

Digital literacy is an essential competency in 21st-century Biology learning due to the complexity of biological concepts and the increasing reliance on digital learning resources. However, validated and reliable instruments for measuring students’ digital literacy skills at the senior high school level remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the validity and reliability of a digital literacy instrument for Grade XI students in Biology learning at SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach involving 70 Grade XI science students from classes XI.3 and XI.8. Data were collected using a digital literacy questionnaire developed based on four indicators: internet searching, hypertextual navigation, content evaluation, and knowledge assembly. Instrument validity was tested using Pearson’s Product Moment correlation at a 5% significance level, while reliability was analyzed using Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient. The results indicated that most questionnaire items had correlation coefficients (r count) exceeding the r table value, indicating that the items were valid. Furthermore, the reliability analysis yielded Cronbach’s Alpha values of 0.79 for class XI.3 and 0.88 for class XI.8, both of which exceeded the minimum reliability threshold. These findings demonstrate that the developed digital literacy instrument meets the criteria of validity and reliability and is suitable for measuring students’ digital literacy skills in Biology learning at the senior high school level. This instrument is expected to assist teachers and researchers in obtaining accurate data on students’ digital literacy abilities and in designing more effective Biology learning strategies aligned with 21st-century educational demands.

Abstract

Generasi muda merupakan tulang punggung bangsa yang perlu dipersiapkan dengan baik, salah satunya dengan membekali mereka pemahaman tentang bahaya perilaku negatif seperti pergaulan bebas, penyalahgunaan narkoba, dan dampak penggunaan gadget secara berlebihan. Artikel ini membahas hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa sosialisasi bertema "Bahaya Gadget Secara Fisik dan Psikis" di SMP YABRI Terpadu Pekanbaru, pada 20 Oktober 2024. Kegiatan ini bertujuan memberikan pemahaman kepada siswa terkait dampak negatif gadget terhadap kesehatan fisik dan psikis, termasuk penurunan motivasi belajar, gangguan fungsi otak, hingga efek pada karakter anak. Metode kegiatan meliputi penjelasan materi, diskusi, dan partisipasi aktif dari siswa serta guru. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme peserta yang tinggi, dengan peningkatan pemahaman tentang bahaya penggunaan gadget secara berlebihan serta solusi untuk mengurangi dampaknya, seperti pengawasan orang tua, pembatasan waktu penggunaan, dan alternatif kegiatan yang bermanfaat. Dampak positif dari kegiatan ini terlihat pada kesadaran siswa terhadap pentingnya pengelolaan waktu yang bijak dalam penggunaan gadget untuk mendukung pembentukan karakter yang sehat. Kegiatan ini diharapkan berkelanjutan dengan partisipasi aktif dari sekolah dan orang tua untuk menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang sehat dan mendukung. Selain itu, hasil kegiatan dipublikasikan sebagai referensi akademik untuk program serupa di masa mendatang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada pentingnya aspek afektif, khususnya minat belajar, dalam memengaruhi capaian akademis siswa pada mata pelajaran biologi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara minat belajar dengan hasil belajar biologi siswa kelas X di SMA N 3 Siak Hulu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif korelasional. Pengumpulan data minat belajar dilakukan menggunakan instrumen angket sebanyak 20 item pernyataan yang disebarkan kepada sampel penelitian sebanyak 39 siswa. Sebelum uji hipotesis, dilakukan uji coba instrumen untuk mengukur tingkat keandalan angket. Hasil uji reliabilitas menggunakan program SPSS menunjukkan bahwa instrumen angket minat belajar memiliki nilai Cronbach's Alpha sebesar .950. Nilai tersebut jauh melampaui batas batas minimal reliabilitas baku sebesar .60, sehingga instrumen dinyatakan sangat reliabel dan valid untuk digunakan dalam penelitian. Nilai rata-rata total skala yang diperoleh dari responden adalah sebesar 80.72 dengan varians 52.050. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa instrumen penelitian ini memiliki konsistensi internal yang sangat tinggi untuk mengukur minat belajar siswa, yang selanjutnya akan dikorelasikan dengan data hasil belajar biologi siswa di sekolah.

Abstract

Extraneous cognitive load (ECL) measurements are important to evaluate the quality of digital learning design, but self-report instruments need to be tested for psychometric quality. This study aims to evaluate students' ECL instruments using the Rasch model. Data was collected through a survey of 38 students using an ECL questionnaire containing 17 items with a Likert scale of 1–5, then analyzed with the Rasch Rating Scale Model to assess reliability-separation, fit items and persons, as well as targeting of persons through the Wright map, The results showed that mapping of person-items on a logit scale could be done, but the targeting was less optimal because the average person was far below the average of items. indicates low ECL dominance and limited item coverage at low range. Category diagnostics show a very uneven distribution of responses (categories 4–5 are hardly used), and the probability curve of categories that do not form a clear peak in the upper categories, so the 5 category scale function is not yet effective. It was concluded that the instrument could be used as an initial measurement of ECL, but it needed to be improved on some items and the addition of items to improve precision and interpretability.Keywords: AI, Biology, ECL, Learning Media, Technology.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the need for developing an electronic student worksheet (E-LKPD) based on a deep learning approach for the topic of living organism classification in Grade X senior high school. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method and was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Siak Hulu, involving one biology teacher and 38 students of Grade X MIPA. Data were collected through observation, teacher interviews, and student questionnaires. Interview data were analyzed descriptively using qualitative techniques, while questionnaire data were analyzed quantitatively by calculating the percentage of needs. The results showed that the need for learning media reached the very high category with a percentage of 83%, media suitability to student characteristics was 76%, availability and benefits of learning media at school were 77%, and expectations toward deep learning-based E-LKPD reached 82%. Teacher interview results supported the questionnaire findings, indicating that digital learning media are essential to enhance students’ motivation, learning independence, and conceptual understanding in Biology. Therefore, it can be concluded that the development of a deep learning-based E-LKPD on living organism classification is highly necessary to support more effective, interactive, and meaningful biology learning.
