Abstract

Breast cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality among women worldwide, with hormonal factors playing a critical role in tumor development and progression. This study aims to describe the immunohistochemical profile of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), and Ki-67 in breast cancer patients at MRCCC Siloam Semanggi Hospital in 2022. A retrospective descriptive study was conducted using a total sampling of anatomical pathology archives, comprising 316 breast cancer cases. The most common age group was 40-49 years. ER positivity was observed in 229 patients (72.5%), while PR positivity was found in 183 patients (57.9%). HER2 overexpression (3+) was identified in 75 patients (23.7%); cases with equivocal HER2 (2+) required confirmation by in situ hybridization. High proliferative activity, indicated by Ki-67 ≥20%, was present in 262 patients (82.9%). These findings indicate a predominance of hormone receptor-positive tumors with high proliferative indices, highlighting the importance of immunohistochemical profiling in guiding prognosis assessment, therapeutic decision-making, and selection of targeted and systemic treatments in breast cancer management. Abstract

Lung cancer cases in Indonesia became the second highest with the highest mortality rate in 2022. Various advanced examinations such as histopathology and immunohistochemistry are performed to identify the morphological types of lung cancer. Histopathologically, lung cancer classified into two types are Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC). After histopathological examination, further immunohistochemical testing is required to help classify the subtype and identify therapeutic markers. One of the markers is the expression of Programmed Death Ligand 1 (PD-L1). Patients with this marker can receive anti-PD-L1 immunotherapy according to the specified criteria. This study determined the morphological profile and PD-L1 expression in patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) at Siloam MRCCC Semanggi Hospital between 2020 and 2022. The method used was descriptive with a retrospective approach by collecting data from the archives of the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory at Siloam MRCCC Semanggi Hospital. The population in this study comprised all patients diagnosed with NSCLC who underwent PD-L1 IHC testing at Siloam MRCCC Semanggi Hospital between 2020 and 2022. Data collection was conducted using a total sampling method, including all individuals who met the predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The final sample consisted of 91 patients diagnosed with NSCLC who had undergone PD-L1 IHC examination during the 2020–2022 period. A total of 91 patients including the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in the data and analyzed. The analysis revealed that the age group 60-69 years accounted for 39.5% of cases, 54.9% of cases were male, 73.6% of cases had an adenocarcinoma morphology, and 54.9% of cases had a negative PD-L1. The incidence of NSCLC patients who underwent PD-L1 IHK examination based on age was dominated by the 60-69 year age group, and most of them were male with the most common diagnosis being adenocarcinoma morphology type and PD-L1 expression with negative values.

Abstract

Pediculosis capitis (head lice) is a global health issue, particularly among school-aged children, caused by Pediculus humanus capitis. This condition can be transmitted both directly or indirectly via fomites. Symptoms commonly associated with Pediculosis capitis include itching of the scalp, sleep disturbances, and discomfort. Several factors generally influence the prevalence, including age, gender, frequency of hair washing, hair type, level of knowledge, personal hygiene, living conditions, and shared use of bedding or pillows. Research purposes to identify the risk factors associated with Pediculosis capitis among students at SDN Cawang 04 and SDN Cawang 12 in East Jakarta. This research is an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The research method employed is quantitative, utilizing questionnaires as research instruments and visual inspection to diagnose infestation, which is confirmed if eggs, nymphs, or adult lice are found in the hair. The sample was selected through random sampling from students in grades 3,4, and 5, with a total of 180 respondents determined using the Slovin formula. Data collection in this study used primary data collected through head lice or nit examinations and questionnaires. The research instruments used were a questionnaire regarding sociodemographic characteristics and questions to determine the number and risk factors for head lice. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis in SPSS. The results show that out of 180 respondents, 100 people (55.6%) were positive for Pediculosis capitis, with a higher infestation rate among female students (76, 42.2%) compared to male students (24, 13.3%). Based on respondent characteristics, the most common age was 9 years old, namely 39 people (21.6%), and grade IV, 37 people (20.5%). Dominant risk factors include age, gender, having long hair, a family size of more than four members, and parents' highest education level being high school. This study indicates that the incidence of Pediculosis capitis remains relatively high.

Abstract

Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among women, particularly in developing countries, largely due to late diagnosis and low participation in early screening programs. Limited knowledge and awareness regarding cervical cancer and Pap smear examinations contribute significantly to delayed detection. This community service activity aimed to increase the knowledge and awareness of the congregation of HKBP Jatisampurna Church, Bekasi, regarding the importance of early detection of cervical cancer through Pap smear examinations. The activity was conducted using interactive educational counseling followed by free Pap smear examination services. Educational sessions covered cervical cancer risk factors, prevention strategies, and the procedures and benefits of Pap smear screening. A total of 50 female congregation members participated in the activity and voluntarily underwent Pap smear examinations. The results demonstrated an improvement in participants’ knowledge and understanding of cervical cancer and the importance of early detection through Pap smear screening. In addition, there was an increased willingness and participation of congregation members in undergoing Pap smear examinations, indicating positive behavioral changes toward preventive health practices. In conclusion, educational counseling combined with direct Pap smear services effectively increased awareness and participation in cervical cancer screening among the HKBP Jatisampurna Church congregation. This community service activity represents a strategic approach to cervical cancer prevention and early detection and highlights the importance of community-based interventions in promoting women’s reproductive health
