Abstract

One of the main problems caused by Covid-19 is the problem of communication, especially in controlling so that the virus does not spread quickly. The regional government of Batubara Regency, North Sumatra Province, is required to be able to make top-down policy adjustments from the central government to policies issued by the regional government in order to overcome the spread of the virus. The problem is the amount of information circulating in the community which makes it difficult to optimally handle Covid-19 in an area. Apart from disinformation about Covid-19 and vaccines, changes to Methode's policy were made by the government to anticipate the spread of the virus. This means that in a crisis situation like this the role of Public Relations from the Regional Government is very important in providing accurate and reliable information in order to gain public trust. This research is qualitative research with descriptive analysis. The purpose of this study is to explain the Crisis Communication of the Batubara District Government in Socializing Public Services During the Covid-19 Pandemic. The results of this study explain the Challenges of Handling Hoaxes in a Pandemic. The conclusion of this study explains the Sense of Crisis in conveying Information and Dissemination of Information regarding the spread of Covid-19. This research is the result of original research conducted by researchers in 2022.

Abstract

This article intends to describe the phenomenon of conventional marketing transitioning to digital marketing by millennial-generation MSMEs in Serdang Bedagai Regency in marketing their products. Internet access in Indonesia is generally quite extensive; at this time, the average house has one cellphone that has an Internet connection. The millennial generation of MSME actors in Serdang Bedagai Regency has also known the benefits and advantages of digital marketing. However, the marketing method and the choice of digital platforms cannot be generalized for all types of MSMEs and their target markets. This article is based on qualitative research and descriptive analysis. The results found that most digital marketing was carried out through applications on smartphones rather than computers (laptops or desktops). The choice of media platforms is also adjusted to the target market and economic level as well as the user's understanding, so many MSME actors prefer social media based on mobile applications that are easy for them to access.

Abstract

This article is entitled "Optimizing the @official.usu Instagram Account to Improve the Image of the Institution." This study aims to determine the level of effectiveness of using Instagram @official.usu in improving the image of the University of North Sumatra when measured using the EPIC model. So, the theory used is the EPIC model. The research method is descriptive-quantitative. The population in this study was 100 thousand followers of the @official.usu Instagram account, with a sample size of 100 followers determined using the Slovin formula with a margin of error of 10%. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. The data analysis used is descriptive statistical analysis and the calculation of average scores, which includes calculating the cumulative score of each dimension of the EPIC model and the calculation of the EPIC rate. The results showed that the use of Instagram @official.usu was effective in improving the image of the University of North Sumatra based on the calculation of the EPIC rate, which was carried out by calculating the average value of the cumulative score of the four dimensions of the EPIC model. The calculation obtained a score of 4.17, included in the effective scale range. So, it can be stated that based on the dimensions of empathy, persuasion, impact, and communication, the use of Instagram @official.usu is effective in improving the image of the University of North Sumatra institution.

Abstract

Proses digitalisasi dan penetrasi internet yang mengarah pada percepatan perkembangan media online pada gilirannya mengarah pada disrupsi (disruption) teknologi yang menantang model bisnis media cetak konvensional. Penggunaan media online memang lebih populer daripada media cetak karena dapat memudahkan penggunanya dalam mengakses dan menyumbangkan ide serta pendapat tanpa batas. Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, jurnalis di Kota Medan melakukan adaptasi terhadap perubahan tersebut dan kerap menggunakan perangkat smartphone dalam kerja jurnalistik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan bentuk komunikasi dan kolaborasi yang dilakukan oleh jurnalis di Kota Medan dalam proses adaptasi terhadap digitalisasi industri media. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif dan dilakukan terhadap 60 orang jurnalis di Kota Medan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jurnalis di Kota Medan sudah memiliki kemampuan yang cukup baik untuk melakukan komunikasi dan kolaborasi dengan menggunakan perangkat digital. Para jurnalis sudah memiliki kemampuan untuk membangun konten digital, mengintegrasikan dan mengelaborasikan data digital, memiliki kesadaran akan copyright dan perizinan, serta membangun engagement dengan khalayak. Saat ini jurnalis di Kota Medan didominasi oleh generasi milenial yang berusia 25-39 tahun. Generasi ini merupakan generasi yang lahir dan tumbuh pada masa transisi elektronik ke digital, sehingga meskipun bukan native era digital namun masih bisa beradaptasi dengan perubahan yang muncul dalam digitalisasi

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Strategi Hubungan Masyarakat Terhadap Keputusan Berkunjung (Studi Korelasional Antara Strategi Hubungan Masyarakat Terhadap Keputusan Berkunjung Wisatawan di Museum TB Silalahi Center, Desa Pagar Batu, Kecamatan Balige, Kabupaten Toba Samosir)”. Penelitian ini bertujuan yaitu untuk mengetahui strategi hubungan masyarakat dalam mempengaruhi keputusan berkunjung wisatawan. Teori yang dianggap relevan yaitu komunikasi pemasaran, strategi komunikasi, hubungan masyarakat, pariwisata, museum, teori AIDA, dan wisatawan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif menggunakan metode korelasional. Penentuan sampel menggunakan rumus Eriyanto dengan variasi populasi 50:50, tingkat kepercayaan 95% dan sampling eror sebanyak 10%, sehingga diperoleh sampel sebanyak 96 responden. Teknik penarikan sampel di dalam penelitian ini yaitu purposive sampling dan accidental sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah penelitian lapangan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner dan studi kepustakaan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis tabel tunggal, analisis tabel silang dan uji korelasi dengan menggunakan SPSS versi 20. Hasil penelitian ini Terdapat pengaruh antara strategi hubungan masyarakat museum terhadap keputusan berkunjung wisatawan di Museum TB Silalahi Center, Desa Pagar Batu, Kecamatan Balige, Kabupaten Toba Samosir dengan penggunaan kampanye tarian budaya Batak yang diadakan secara berkala dan promosi eksternal yang menggunakan media adversiting seperti brosur, baliho, website dan instagram.

Abstract

Soft Skill communication skills are very important for prospective scholars. These abilities are useful in dealing with the world of work, such as during interviews, convey ideas well, and are able to negotiate and looby. The training was attended by 150 participants from various faculties at the University of North Sumatra such as: Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Cultural Sciences. The training method uses the method of delivering two-way communication and material simulation. The result of this community service activity is the increased knowledge and skills of Soft Skill Communication candidates for the University Sumatra Utara candidate in the face of the workforce.

Abstract

The intensity of social media consumption for young people is now very high, due to the rapid flow of information circulating directly proportional with to the ease of access the social media itself. But there are still some young people who have not equipped themselves with the ability to recognize the benefits and also the dangers of social media consumption itself. The results of observations through the community partner show that the young people in Tanjung Anom district tend to assume information obtained through social media is information from trusted sources. The lack ability of the young people to recognize the benefits and impacts of social media consumption is due to the fact that they rarely get socialization or education about the impact of social media consumption from the government or non-government organizations that may concern about it. This phenomenon certainly needs attention because the information flow circulates very quickly and easily through the various social media platform, it would be very dangerous if these young people then become one of the parties who carry on the information obtained without filtering first. These community service activities carried out at the young people community in Tanjung Anom district discussing about the social media platforms, the ethics in social media consumption, and also sharing about various problems may occur when accessing information on social media. This activity is expected to initiate small changes related to the ability of social media literacy for young people in the Tanjung Anom district.
