Abstract

The efficiency and effectiveness of vessel piloting services at ports play a crucial role in ensuring smooth maritime operations and enhancing maritime safety. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of vessel piloting services at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, Indonesia. The evaluation encompasses various aspects of piloting services, including navigational guidance, maneuver assistance, and response to emergency situations. By employing qualitative methodologies, data will be collected from stakeholders, including port authorities, vessel operators, and piloting personnel. Key performance indicators such as response time, safety record, and customer satisfaction will be analyzed to assess the current state of piloting services. Additionally, potential areas for improvement will be identified to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of vessel piloting services at Tanjung Perak Port. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for port authorities and stakeholders to optimize piloting services and ensure safe and efficient maritime operations at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya.

Abstract

Analysis of Causes and Treatment of Leaks Pipe in the Process of Loading and Discharging Liquid Bulk Commodities Types of Fuel: Case Study at Tanjung Wangi Port. Pipe leaks in the process of loading and discharging liquid bulk commodities, types of fuel, at Tanjung Wangi Port are serious problem that needs to be handled quickly and effectively. Pipe leaks can cause significant financial losses, environmental damage and danger to public health. This research aims to analyze the causes of pipe leaks during the loading and unloading process of liquid bulk commodities such as fuel oil at Tanjung Wangi port and identify effective solutions for handling these leaks. The research was carried out using qualitative analysis methods. The research results show that the causes of pipe leaks can come from human factors, such as errors in the loading and unloading process or pipe operation. Apart from that, technical factors such as wear and corrosion on pipes can also cause leaks. To handle pipe leaks, this research recommends implementing preventive measures which include routine maintenance, use of corrosion-resistant pipe materials, as well as high training and awareness for officers involved in the loading and unloading process. Apart from that, this research also suggests the use of sophisticated leak detection technology to detect leaks early and reduce the impact they cause.

Abstract

This research examines the comparison between manual ship loading and unloading methods and modern technology in the context of large ports to increase productivity. The main focus of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of each process in improving port operational efficiency. The research was carried out through analysis of quantitative and qualitative data collected from large ports that apply both methods. Data collected includes loading and unloading times, operational costs, and productivity. The research results show that ports that use modern technology such as gantry cranes and automated guided vehicles (AGV) experience a significant increase in productivity compared to ports that use manual methods. Modern methods can reduce loading and unloading times by up to 30% and reduce operational costs substantially. In addition, this technology also reduces the risk of errors and damage to goods, increases safety, and optimizes resource use. These findings indicate that investment in modern technology is a strategic step to increase efficiency and productivity in large ports. Therefore, port managers should consider the implementation of advanced technologies and staff training to maximize the benefits of these technologies. It is hoped that this research can provide practical guidance for ports in designing more efficient and economical loading and unloading strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the waiting time for passenger ships at the North Jamrud Terminal, Surabaya. This research method used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data sources used are primary data and secondary data with data collection techniques in the form of interviews with 4 office staff and 1 SPJM manager, direct observation and documentation. The results of this research show that there are still waiting times that do not meet port performance standards at the North Jamrud Terminal, Surabaya. Waiting time for passenger ships at the Jamrud Utara terminal in Surabaya is influenced by several factors such as bad weather such as heavy rain and storms, making it difficult for ships to dock at the pier and extending the ship's time aloft. Inconsistency in the ship's arrival schedule, whether the ship arrives earlier than scheduled or late. As well as the effectiveness of guide services, guide services that are not optimal in busy water situations can worsen waiting times. The results of the analysis for the period October to December 2023, the waiting time at the Jamrud Utara terminal in Surabaya reached 2.53 hours, so it does not comply with port performance standards. Meanwhile, the ship's approach time at the North Jamrud Terminal, Surabaya, shows that the port service performance is good, because it is below the average approach time standard at the North Jamrud Terminal, Surabaya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji peran manajemen logistik dalam meningkatkan efisiensi distribusi di PT Bahari Utama Samudra. Dengan pendekatan studi kasus, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi kinerja logistik, hambatan yang dihadapi, serta strategi yang diterapkan untuk mengoptimalkan distribusi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi langsung, dan analisis dokumen internal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknologi pelacakan berbasis GPS meningkatkan transparansi dan akurasi distribusi. Optimalisasi rute pengiriman mengurangi waktu tempuh hingga 15%, sementara manajemen inventaris digital meminimalkan risiko kekurangan atau kelebihan stok serta mempercepat distribusi. Sinergi antara teknologi, perencanaan berbasis data, dan koordinasi internal terbukti meningkatkan efisiensi operasional. Direkomendasikan agar PT Bahari Utama Samudra terus mengembangkan sistem logistik berbasis teknologi serta meningkatkan kompetensi sumber daya manusia untuk menghadapi dinamika pasar.

Abstract

The loading and unloading process of ships, known as stevedoring, is a critical operation in ports that significantly affects the efficiency of cargo handling and port operations. This study aims to analyze the stevedoring methods used in Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, to enhance productivity. A qualitative approach was employed, including observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that conventional methods still dominate stevedoring activities, with limited utilization of modern techniques. Factors such as coordination among personnel and infrastructural limitations contribute to delays and inefficiencies. Comparatively, modern methods demonstrate higher productivity. Recommendations include the increased use of modern methods, infrastructure enhancements, improved coordination, and continuous evaluation and improvement. Implementing these recommendations is expected to improve stevedoring productivity in Tanjung Perak Port and optimize overall port operations.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the widespread ethical violations in the practice of maritime cargo distribution, which reflect a weak integration of moral and spiritual values in maritime logistics management. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the implementation of the values of trustworthiness (amanah) and responsibility in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) as an ethical foundation that can strengthen professionalism and integrity in the management and distribution of maritime cargo. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using in-depth interview techniques, participatory observation, and document study to explore the implementation of the values of trustworthiness and responsibility in cargo and maritime distribution management. Informants were selected purposively, and the data were analyzed thematically using the Miles, Huberman & Saldana (2014) model, with validation through triangulation, member checking, and expert discussions. The study concludes that the values of trustworthiness and responsibility taught in Islamic Religious Education have been internalized in the practice of cargo and maritime distribution management through accuracy, honesty, and work discipline. Managerial approaches such as routine evaluations, character training, and reward & punishment systems further reinforce the organizational implementation of these values. Therefore, PAI values deserve to be strategically integrated into the maritime logistics work system as a sustainable moral and professional ethical foundation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas keterlambatan keberangkatan kapal di pt dharma lautan utama cabang tanjung perak surabaya yang terjadi meskipun sistem inaportnet telah diterapkan sebagai sarana digitalisasi proses clearance kapal. Temuan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa keterlambatan tersebut dipengaruhi oleh kurangnya pemahaman sumber daya manusia terhadap cara kerja sistem inaportnet dan masih adanya praktik manual, seperti proses persetujuan dokumen yang dilakukan melalui sambungan telepon antar instansi. Padahal, sistem ini dirancang untuk mempercepat proses administratif dan mengurangi interaksi tatap muka. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui observasi dan wawancara dengan staf sertifikasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa meskipun inaportnet berpotensi meningkatkan efisiensi waktu, kendala teknis dan keterbatasan koordinasi antarlembaga masih menjadi hambatan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini merekomendasikan adanya pelatihan teknis bagi sdm serta pengembangan fitur notifikasi otomatis yang dapat memantau status pengajuan secara real-time sebagai bentuk percepatan dan transparansi proses clearance
