The research instrument used Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the administration of abdominal stretching exercise, and used an abdominal stretching exercise logbook. Based on the results of the research carried out, after being given the abdominal stretching exercise technique on the second day, 83.3% of respondents experienced a decrease in menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea), only 16.7% of respondents had not experienced a decrease in the intensity of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea). This means that there is an effect of giving abdominal stretching exercise techniques to female students who experience dysmenorrhea during the menstrual process. Abstract

Adolescent knowledge of first aid in accidents (P3K) plays an essential role in reducing the risk of further injury during incidents that occur in the school environment. However, limited access to information and low exposure to first-aid materials remain obstacles for this age group. This study aims to analyze the influence of booklet media as a P3K educational innovation in increasing adolescent knowledge at MTs “NH” Luluk Batu Jaya in 2025. A pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was used, involving 54 students selected through accidental sampling. The intervention consisted of distributing a first-aid booklet accompanied by a guided educational session. Knowledge was measured using a standardized questionnaire administered before and after the intervention. The findings show a significant increase in knowledge scores after the booklet was provided. Prior to the educational intervention (pretest), 30 respondents (55.6%) had good knowledge, 23 respondents (42.6%) had moderate knowledge, and 1 respondent (1.8%) had poor knowledge. After the intervention, knowledge improved considerably, with 52 respondents (96.3%) demonstrating good knowledge, 2 respondents (3.7%) showing moderate knowledge, and none in the poor category. These results indicate that the booklet effectively enhanced adolescents’ understanding of basic first-aid procedures. The study confirms that booklets serve as an easy-to-implement, economical, and relevant educational medium to strengthen students’ preparedness for emergency situations in schools. The researchers recommend incorporating booklet-based education into continuous school health promotion programs as one of the key educational strategies.

Abstract

Academic stress is a condition that can arise when students are faced with various academic demands, such as preparing final projects, implementing practical exams, high grade standards, and preparing for the world of work. These various pressures have the potential to affect the mental health condition of students. This study aims to analyze the relationship between academic stress levels and mental health in final year health students at University X Pekanbaru in 2025. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research location is at University X Pekanbaru with a population of 49 students. The sampling technique uses total sampling. The instruments used for data collection were the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20). The results of the analysis showed that most of the respondents experienced a moderate level of academic stress (75.5%). Meanwhile, the mental health condition of the majority of respondents was in the normal category (55.1%). A statistical test using Chi-Square yielded a value of p = 0.004 (p < 0.05), which showed that there was a significant relationship between academic stress levels and students' mental health, especially in final year students. Therefore, it is recommended that educational institutions provide counseling services, stress management education programs, and adequate psychological support to help students deal with academic pressure more adaptively.

Abstract

Background: Adolescent mental health represents a critical global public health issue, particularly in light of the increasing incidence of depressive disorders and the heightened risk of suicidal behavior among school-aged youth. The identification of emotional and psychological disturbances at an early stage plays a pivotal role in preventing the progression toward self-harm and suicide. This study aimed to describe the emotional and mental health conditions of adolescents in Pekanbaru City by utilizing the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) as a screening instrument. Methods: This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach. Participants were selected through purposive sampling, involving 116 senior high school students. Data collection was conducted using the PHQ-9 questionnaire to determine levels of depressive symptoms and identify potential suicide risk. Results: The results showed that 5% of participants did not exhibit depressive symptoms, while 21% experienced mild depression, 38% moderate depression, 21% moderately severe depression, and 15% severe depression. In addition, 41% of respondents reported experiencing thoughts related to self-harm or suicide. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that a considerable proportion of adolescents in Pekanbaru City suffer from varying degrees of depression, accompanied by a significant risk of suicidal ideation. This condition underscores the urgent need for increased involvement from educational institutions, healthcare professionals, and families. Efforts to strengthen early screening programs, improve mental health awareness, and expand school-based counseling services are essential to mitigate more severe mental health outcomes in the future.
